Rsync / SSH / Cygwin .. permission problems..
I am attempting to use rsync to "mirror" data between several windows 2000 and windows XP systems. I am a UNIX person by nature, so decided the easiest way to go about doing this would be to use Cygwin with cron and ssh running as services, then run the rsync connection nightly through cron. Cygwin is installed on both systems and works perfectly. OpenSSH is installed and running,

Building Stand-Alone NT Installer. Need Advice on File Structure. Thank you!
-- Hello Everyone, I am trying to build a stand-alone installation application of OpenSSH 4.1p1-1. The target of this project is the NT platform (NT/00/XP/03). I've met with success and am happy so far with the progress. I cross-checked all executables and DLL's for dependencies. All executables and DLL's should truly stand-alone (dependent on nothing outside the enclosed tree).

Building NT installer. Need Advice RE: File Structure.
Hello OpenSSH, I am working on building an installer for a stand alone OpenSSH 4.1p1-1 build for NT systems. Since it is built with Cygwin, it seems Cygwin bombed the OpenSSH directory with a ton of erroneous files. The installer is so far perfect and I am seeking advice. Which of the following files from the following structure are totally unnecessary? I wish to know so I can clean up the

PATCH/RFC: Another stab at the Cygwin hang problem
Hi, In http://sources.redhat.com/ml/cygwin/2002-09/msg01155.html, I noted that the often-observed hangs of rsync under Cygwin were assuaged by a call to msleep(). After upgrading my Cygwin environment to rsync 2.5.6, I'm seeing these hangs again, not surprisingly given a CVS entry for main.c notes that this kludge was not harmless: Revision 1.162 / (download) - annotate - [select for

rsync on Windows 2000?
What is the status of rsync on Windows 2000? I was looking to install it on my test system, and the download directory has a readme file that says I need the cygnus gnu-win32 library. The link refers me to the index page for cygnus, with no way to get to a download area. A google search shows many mirrors of the download directory. All I have checked are completely blank. I will confess

Constant pinging from muon.cygnus-1.org
Can someone in this icecast list tell me why, after steaming a shoutcast server for some time, a 69.46.29.165 ip address has started and keeps pinging my port 8000 every couple of seconds 24 hours a day 7 days a week? It's from muon.cygnus-1.org, and the isp is hivelocity.net or hivelocity ventures corporation. Funny, whenever my shoutcast server comes alive, that same 69.46.29.165

rsync on Windows 2000? ----- Sorry, me again!
Hello, I just posted this a few days back and my email got totally messed up so I don't know for sure if there was any reply yet to this. If there was I would be glad if someone just could forward that to me. Thank you in advance, Stephan Hello, I downloaded that win version of rsync and I have a small question: How can I do one of the following: 1.) Add multiple syncronisation

Winamp plugin compile problems and fix/docs
The winamp plugin would not compile. I am using the Cygnus environment (gcc, and a lot of other GNU utils) on Windows NT. _beginthread() is not found. That doesn't look like a function application code should ever call directly. I converted it to use CreateThread and it compiles and works. Change this: thread_handle = (HANDLE)_beginthread(DecodeThread,0, (void *)(&killDecod eThread)

R-beta: .C and dyn.load for Windows
Dear R-users, I maintain software for survival analysis written in C and Fortran since many years ago. Recently I have rewritten part of it as functions to be called from R by .C. This works fine with the unix version. I just create a ".so" file as described in an example in the R distribution. However, when I try this approach in Windows (NT or 95), using the Cygnus gcc latest

[Bug 2328] cygwin rsync hangs when initiated remotely after transfering some files

I have been tracking this for a while now and can say that the latest cygwin install appears to have fixed the problem on one of the setups that has consistantly failed in the past. Have not put the update on to any

KerbNet!
I want to thank whoever mentioned KerbNet by Cygnus Solutions! Wowza! I recommend that people check it out. It lets you implement Kerberos under UNIX and NT, and have them work together (so you have one *unified* security system that is used by both your NT and UNIX boxes). It's at http://www.cygnus.com/product/kerbnet-index.html It also does authentication *without* sending passwords over

porting Ogg Vorbis to Symbian OS
Hi I am in the process of porting the Ogg Vorbis libraries and player(s) to Symbian OS (EPOC32) which runs on Psion machines and Nokia 9210 to name some machines. They are all using an ARM core. I managed to successfully recompile libogg, libvorbis and libvorbisfile with only minor modifications. They include: * removal of static data, which is not supported by EPOC DLLs. All lookup tables are
