rsync's "value to large" error.
HI, I'm trying to transfer a list of files within a filesystem to another filesystem. I've used the option: # rsync -avzol --progress /wp05/global/FCSI/WP_RLS05/rundir/ /nfs_proj/global/WP/ However, it had produced the error below: building file list ... global/FCSI/WP_RLS05/rundir/wp_celtic_max_fullwarn.tcl.log: Value too large to be stored in data type # du -sk wp_celtic_max.tcl.log

File size limitations?
Hi I'm running rsync 2.5.6 protocol version 26 on solaris 8. I have a local software RAID array, plus a mounted netapp fileserver, and am looking to replicate the contents of the netapp mount on the RAID array. I run a cronjob each night, with lines like :- /usr/local/sbin/rsync -ar /netapp/all/projects /backup/vol0/ >> /tmp/rsync_log.txt 2>&1 Looking at the log files, I get

Some C help patching sender.c (from:plain source -> encrypted destination: rsync + gpg)
Hi, I am exploring extending Kyle Jones' patch (which implements post-transfer filter in receiver.c) to pre-filter or otherwise pre-process the file before it is sent. Kyle Jones patch can be found here <http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=b6f55s%24256q%241%40FreeBSD.csie.NCTU.edu.tw&rnum=6> and the rationale for what I am trying to do here

Samba 2.2.8 SEGV in rpcclient getdriver on Solaris 7
Hello I was trying to figure out how to add printer drivers manually for downloading to Windows 2000 clients and I came accross this problem. (The printer drivers were installed some time ago using an earlier version of samba 2.2.x). $ dbx /usr/local/samba/bin/rpcclient (dbx) run xxxxxxx -U yyyyyyy Running: rpcclient xxxxxxx -U yyyyyyy (process id 4735) Password: rpcclient $> enumprinters

Win XP Pro / Linux PDC
Hi all, I'm trying to configure Samba as a PDC. I'm running Debian Woody, hence Samba version 3.0.0final-1. We have no Windows servers anywhere on the network (yay!). I have done an smbpasswd for root, and add machine script is setup (see attached smb.conf). From the XP Pro workstation, when I fill in the domain name, log in as root, and click ok, I eventually get: "The following

using more than one ldap server in smb.conf
Hi! I'm trying to get Samba running to accept more than one ldap server in smb.conf. I applied this patch (http://groups.google.com/groups?q=smb.conf+second+ldap+server&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=ar08ok%241pjt%241%40FreeBSD.csie.NCTU.edu.tw&rnum=5) to the samba (2.2.5) sources, but samba doesn't query the second ldap server I specified in smb.conf. Is there

Hardware - no way -Re: Crashes maybe due to: "error writing 4 unbuffered bytes"
Dear JW, I spent hours checking and upgrading my hardware. There is nothing wrong with it. It is a 'mature' Pentium-II 400MHz system that has been running my servers WITHOUT ANY CRASHES for nearly 2 years now 24/7 Listen to me: "The crashes are dues to rsync" There is an IDENTICAL report from a totally different source at

New Users cannot login on W2k client (Samba 3.01 on debian linux)
Hi all, I have a problem with newly created users beeing not able to login at our Windows clients. We have debian linux with Samba 3.01 running as PDC and fileserver. I create the linux users first with useradd and then the samba users with smbpasswd. There are existing machine accounts for all the workstations and users that exist already for quite some time can login at the workstations. But

security = server & Win2k PDC
Hi, I'm having a problem with the smbd process losing its connection to the password server. Smbd can successfully authenticate a user upon initial connection. Then after some time (within a matter of 10-20 minutes) if the user tries to use the mapped drive, he sometimes gets prompted with an authentication dialog box. Nothing that is typed into this box will be accepted, and the user

PC-Pine "Junk in end of group"
I am running PC-Pine under Windows XP, connecting via SSL to a Dovecot IMAP server (0.99.10-2 under Debian woody). When I open a mail folder (mbox format) in Pine I get the following non-fatal error: [Junk in end of group: pn=undisclosed-recipients al= dn=] A similar error was reported to comp.mail.pine as happening with a Lotus Domino server. Mark Crispin explained it as a server-side bug:

Win2K. Raw CUPS printing, driver download
Using Debian Sarge, samba, CUPS, and an HP G85 mutifunction with HPOJ to use the G85 USB connection, I've been able to get raw printing to work, and Point 'n' Print driver download to work, but not at the same time. The driver download was a chore, because of HP's proprietary install program. Had to install the driver locally to get the needed files and copy them manually to the

Workstation Trust Accounts
Hi there, I have a really ugly problem, which, as I know is partially selfmade. But to the problem: I have five servers running samba-2.2.3a-12 (latest Debian Woody release) which are controlled by one master server. All of the five servers act as pdc for an own nt-domain. Now to keep the administrative work as low as possible I have this one master server. Via this server we/our customer
