Deletion of files only on remote system is not logged
I've only just seen the response from May 9, as I'm not enrolled in the list (too much mail already!). Here is a cut-down example as requested, showing the same behaviour: Script started on Fri May 23 15:18:37 2003 15:18 [220](H:root@Edelfelt)/tmp: ls -l /tmp/testdir total 32 -rw-r----- 1 root other 9 May 23 15:15 both -rw-r----- 1 root other 7 May 23 14:59

passwd and secrets files (2.5.6)
I am a little confused regarding the above files. As I read the man pages, the passwd file is for the password of the user as which the rsync server runs - on the server machine. The secrets files (AFAIK) contain the name:password for the valid users of rsync. Some problems that arose ("address family not supported") went away after I updated both this file and the password file. These

samba 2.2.7a and multiple logins...
Hello I use a new samba server with LDAP support as PDC for some Windows2000 and WindowsXP machines. All is working nice. The useer can login with a user/password in the domain, we have remote profiles, the user can access the samba shares and print etc. But after some time (< 1 day) we get a smbstatus output like the attached file. Users are connected multiple times with the same share

C code validation
Dear R-devel, I'm trying to validate the results from a C function, against a (trial and tested) older R function. For reasons unknown to me, the C function seems to give different result sometimes at each trial, even with the very same data. These are the relevant outputs from R: > library(QCA) Loading required package: lpSolve > benchmark <- function(x, y) { + index <- 0

W2K Office97 File Open or Save problem
Hi all I have a Samba 2.2.2-3.2mdk build running on 8.1 Mandrake. All the Win9x clients work fine. The Win2k clients also work fine except that from within Word or Excel they can't use file open or file save. When trying to open or save a file on a drive that is mapped to the Samba share then the app says that the user does not have enough privileges on drive x: The file can be opened by

programming question
Dear list, I have a vector of numbers, let's say: myvec <- c(2, 8, 24, 26, 51, 57, 58, 78, 219) My task is to reduce this vector to non-reducible numbers; small numbers can cross-out some of the larger ones, based on a function let's say called reduce() If I apply the function to the first element 2, my vector gets shorted to: > (myvec <- reduce(myvec[1])) [1] 2 24 51

error running sammon
Hello, I am inputing a 17 x 17 symetric matrix to sammon. The matrix is a co-occurance matrix with no missing data. If this is at all relevant, running hclust on this matrix works. > samx <- sammon(q23axproduct) I receive the following error: Error in sammon(q23axproduct) : initial configuration must be complete In addition: Warning messages: 1: some of the first 2 eigenvalues are

multiple bases to decimal (was: comparing two matrices)
Hi again, I was contemplating the solution using base 3: set.seed(3) mat2 <- matrix(sample(0:2, 15, replace=T), 5, 3) Extracting the line numbers is simple: bases <- c(3, 3, 3)^(2:0) # or just 3^(2:0) colSums(apply(mat2, 1, function(x) x*bases)) + 1 [1] 7 23 25 8 1 The problem is sometimes the columns have different number of levels, as in: mat1 <- expand.grid(0:2, 0:2,

Files getting excluded.. don't understand why?
I am trying to use rsync along with find to quickly copy changes to mirrors for some web sites. The basic idea is: 1 look for files newer than X >> export-file 2 rsync --include-from=export-file remote-server:/remote-path Simple enough. Unfortunately, I can't get this to work. Step 1 works well enough. However, when I use rsync it appears that rsync is excluding the files I added

FW: Help Please! - Copying files from Windows to Samba share loses connection
Aaron, Yes, I left the server string out intentionally because of how the mapped drive description showed in Windows. Could this be causing my problem? I was able to join this server to the domain and I could retrieive a list of users using the winfo command. Thanks!
