Hardisk cloning for centos-5.3
Hi, I want to clone my hardisk containing the centos-5.3 OS and its swap region on to new raw hardisk via network either through ssh, tftp or ftp. How do i do that ? Is there any Tool for that or will DD command be sufficient.I know that dd command will have to be used on hardisk with already existing partitions and not on raw disk. Today's "frustrated programmer" award goes to Linphone, which has the following debug output: > (linphone:28655): LinphoneCore-WARNING **: this fucking remote sip phone did not answered properly to my sdp offer! I get this message when I connect to linphone using a softphone, or when I try to use linphone to connect to asterisk and listen to an announcement. I suspect that

Yum update slow on CentOS 4.1 x86_64?
Hi list I have several CentOS 4.1 boxes, but only one is running x86_64 CentOS. yum update on all boxes is really fast, on the x86_64 box it is horribly slow. Even startup and "Setting up Repos" takes minutes to complete. The box is just idling all the time (no load at all) and is connected to an 8 mbit DSL connection. Also the downloading of the headers seems to go very slow,

Confusion regarding rsync vs. rsyncx
We currently do backup using rsync amongst Linux and Solaris machines. Modulo an ACL issue that we had to patch, this is working extremely well. But I want to add our OSX machines to the mix. This is, unfortunately, leaving me confused about rsyncx. I can do the normal thing from OSX using rsync. But the page for rsyncx says - cryptically, in my ignorant opinion - that rsyncx adds support for

works with webrick,lighty, not mongrel
Hello, I''ve been working away to setup mongrel as my production server, however I am running into an odd problem and am not sure where to investigate for the answer. When I run using mongrel_rails start most things work fine, but a I get a few inexplicable undefined method errors, for example: undefined method `send_qbxml'' for #<Sync:0x2aaaafa7aa78> The method is

File listing problems in 3.0.13
Over the weekend I upgraded my IRIX servers to 3.0.13 and have found many strange issues regarding the creation of new folders. When I attempt to add a new folder through the Windows side I get an immediate error dialog box stating "You may not be able to access file created in the folder X:\New Folder." When I select to continue the folder is created, looking on the IRIX side the

alternatives to liveice and darkice
are there any decent alternatives to live audio streaming [via. soundcard] to darkice or liveice? after a few days fighting with darkice, i finally managed to bring it up only to see that it takes 55% of my cpu just to encode one 128kbps stream using libmp3lame. a similar 128kbps stream only takes up 36% cpu using liveice. maybe i have something configured wrong, but i was sortof expecting darkice

HFS support (resource forks)
hi will the official rsync version in future maybe support HFS(+) filesystem, like rsyncx does right now? i ask because the rsyncx version dosen't run on my linuxbox and the feature is only supported if all systems use rsyncx. regards sam

rsync-ing on MacOS X.
Hi all, I'm setting up a backup script for my Mac, and I'm wondering about the rsync ability of dealing with HFS+ filesystem (resource-fork and such...). I've searched the mailing list archive for this topic and I've found some thread regarding it, but it's not clear to me what is the actual situation. Is the HFS+ officially supported? Will it be in the near future?

[LLVMdev] Some question on LLVM design
Thanks all for the fast answers, I'm certainly understanding LLVM better. [LLVMdev] LLCJ - VMKIT
Is llcj in working order? I read a while back that it had rotted. How can I help if so? I'd like to get it in working order and will pitch in my time to help get it back to a good state. -- Thanks, Ryan Fairchild -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Feature request: Sync Mac OS resource forks and metadata on Mac OS X
I have a feature request for rsync. I tried posting it to the FAQ-o-matic, but that system didn't seem to be accepting new questions. I hope this is an okay list for the request--apologies if it's misdirected. Mac OS X provides support for the Mac file system resource forks and mac specific metadata (e.g., creator and file type). Most Unix applications ignore this information, but it

mystery data fills my target disk
Hello, I'm trying to use rsync to periodically restore a test computer from a master disk image on a separate partition. The first time I copy the data from the master partition to the target partition, everything works as expected. But if I do the operation again, rsync indicates that it is copying lots of files that have not changed. More significantly, the disk usage on the target volume

"Bad address" error
I'm getting a "bad address" error which is causing my rsync process to bomb out. I'm running RsyncX 2.1, in daemon mode on the source machine, with a script to pull the information to the backup server. Both servers are Xserves running OS X Server 10.2.8. Rsync target is on an Xserve RAID. The RAID has 350GB free, so I'm not running into a disk full situation. My command

systemd-journald corruption
I have several recently-installed CentOS 7 servers that keep having systemd-journald corruption (which stops ALL logging, including syslog). Interestingly, they are all spam-scanning servers running amavisd-new (so could be some particular pattern is triggering it). Is there a "supported" way to just cut systemd-journald out of the picture and have log entries go straight to rsyslogd?
