rsync's "value to large" error.
HI, I'm trying to transfer a list of files within a filesystem to another filesystem. I've used the option: # rsync -avzol --progress /wp05/global/FCSI/WP_RLS05/rundir/ /nfs_proj/global/WP/ However, it had produced the error below: building file list ... global/FCSI/WP_RLS05/rundir/wp_celtic_max_fullwarn.tcl.log: Value too large to be stored in data type # du -sk wp_celtic_max.tcl.log

files not moved immediately to final destination from temp location after rsync returns with success
Hi, I am using rsync version 3.0.7 on an arm linux based embedded device. The device pulls data periodically from a rsync server and stores the files on an SD card. The partial, temp and final rsync destinations all reside on the SD card. I came across an issue where it seems that the rsync call returned with a success but the files that it pulled are not moved immediately to its final

Is rsync copying over the entire file? Sent bytes matches actual file size.
Hi, I am testing rsync and it looks as though it is copying over the entire file which doesn't sound right. System: Windows 2003 Rsync.exe cygpopt-0.dll cygwin1.dll I have just tested rsync with a 571Mb zip file containing our Backup Exec installation source. The command I am running is: rsync -avp --delete --progress --stats /cygdrive/c/rsync_test/ "/cygdrive/Y/" >

Generating cpio list.
One of the things I want to do besides mirror a hard drive is maintain an incremental backup on tape. The way for me to do this ( of course ) is to take the output of rsync and use it to generate a list of files for cpio. The basic ideal is something like this declare -i head tail # gets the first line with total: at the begining head=$(grep -n ^total: $log_rsync|awk -F: '{print $1}')

Gluster documentation search
Hello folks, I spend some time today mucking about trying to figure out how to make our documentation search a better experience. The short answer is, search kind of works now. Long answer: mkdocs creates a client side file which is used for search. RTD overrides this by referring people to Elasticsearch. However, that doesn't clear out stale entries and we're plagued with a whole lot of

docs.gluster.org
Hello, To reduce confusion, we've setup docs.gluster.org pointing to gluster.readthedocs.org. Both URLs will continue to work for the forseeable future. Please update any references that you control to point to docs.gluster.org. At some point in the distant future, we will switch to hosting docs.gluster.org on our own servers. RTD will set up a canonical link to docs.gluster.org[1]. Over

lists.gluster.org issues this weekend
Hello folks, We have discovered that for the last few weeks our mailman server was used for a spam attack. The attacker would make use of the + feature offered by gmail and hotmail. If you send an email to example at hotmail.com, example+foo at hotmail.com, example+bar at hotmail.com, it goes to the same inbox. We were constantly hit with requests to subscribe to a few inboxes. These requests
