rsync windows -> unix still hanging :(
I spent about 12 hours today writing a nice backup system based on
Mike Rubel's snapshot system; but much to my dismay, when I took it
for a test drive, I found that rsync hung on the first large directory
I tried to back up. Aiee!
A few web searches later, I realized that a lot of folks have seen this
problem. I saw one proposed fix...

vp3 hang on mplayer exit (for GT240 videocard) - workaround found?
Apparently, this hang can be fixed at small performance cost by setting
NOUVEAU_VP3_DEBUG_FENCE 1 (as opposed to default 0)
in https://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/tree/src/gallium/drivers/nouveau/nouveau_vp3_video.h
Now, what exactly fixes my hangs (or make them less severe) - still open question,
guess I can flip few of those debug defines and try to find out ...

Certificate Server name!
Setup of Dovecot went smoothly.
Now when I try to retrieve mail from the server, I get the following
message:
Security Error: Domain name mismatch
You have attempted to establish a connection to "mail.tib.com"
However, the security certificate presented belongs to "imap.tib.com".....
How to fix this message?
Thanks in advance.

rsync cygwin hang
Hello,
I'm having problems with rsync hanging on Cygwin. I read some archives
of the list about this, but if I understood it correctly this problem
had been solved? Mine prevails though.
I'm running rsync 2.6.2 at both ends, Cygwin's version on the Windows
end and backports.org's version on the other, Debian Woody, end.
The one on the Cygwin end is running as a daemon, --daemon

[PATCH]: Drop Cygwin workaround
Hi,
the Cygwin specific workaround to sleep a second in daemon() isn't
needed anymore. We can eliminate it from the OpenSSH sources.

[PATCH]: scp could hang in Cygwin
Hi,
attached is a patch which solves the following problem:
Sometimes scp could hang in Cygwin when used as remote end using
the -t option. This is due to a binmode/textmode problem which
could be raised by the login shell which is used by the user and
it's setting of textmode on stdin. The patch solves that problem
by explicitly setting binmode on stdin.
Besides solving the hanging

r-api-3 with R 3.5.2. on Stretch: is there a workaround?
Now that I am at least mapping the right repository to my Debian version (doh!) I have another question. In the installation page at https://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian/#debian-stretch-stable there is the line:
"Please note that R packages from the Debian stretch distribution are not compatible with R 3.5.x, as it provides r-api-3.5, while the stretch packages depend on

[LLVMdev] LLVM on Windows (cygwin?)

I know that Brian once got the LLVM CVS core compiled under Cygwin, but I
don't recall how well it worked. I thought he had the JIT running, but I
might be wrong.

cygwin rsync ssh hang. Solved?
The legendary cygwin/rsync/ssh hang problem. I have been tracking this
for a while now and can say that the latest cygwin install appears to
have fixed the problem on one of the setups that has consistantly failed
in the past. Have not put the update on to any production boxes yet,
but it looks promising. From the threads that I have read on the cygwin
mailing lists, it would seem that a

Cygwin hang-problem resolved
Not for me! I'm using cygwin-1.5.6-1, with rsync 2.5.7-2 (as reported by
cygcheck -s). I've also tried with rsync-1.4.0 (as someone reported that
worked), and rsync-2.6.0, both built from source. I get a 100% reliable
hang after the first 0-128k of the first file. Command looks like:
rsync -e ssh -ar sparky:"/cygdrive/c/www\ sites/" /cygdrive/c/wwwsites

cygwin rsync hang under Windows Terminal Services session
Hi, though the list would be interested to know an issue we have just come
across.
We have found that rsync version 2.5.6 over ssh within a cygwin environment
run manually from either a command prompt or a cygwin prompt hangs every
time if we run it in a Windows Terminal Server session. It doesn't seem to
matter what the remote server is as we have experienced this when the remote
server is

[LLVMdev] lli on cygwin - ERROR: Program used "some standard c" function which could not be found
I've tried using llvm 2.5 and svn version with both gcc3.4 and gcc-4.3.2. It
apparently is not finding the most standard c functions.
I suspect this may be because they might live in cygwin.dll. Ins there any
to force static linking.
Or is there any build recipies that might help?

Windows 7 R (32/64bit) running under cygwin: package not found
Hi,
Using R 2.15.1 on Windows 7. Have installed both versions 32 and 64bit.
In both of them among others I have installed a package rgenoud
When I open R gui of 32bit and write library(rgenoud) it responds by
showing a functional rgenoud version 5.7-8. The same it does on Rgui
64bit.
Now I am working in cygwin (v. 1.12.4.0) with xwin. Normally before when
I had installed a package, I only had

rsync 2.5.6 hanging in cygwin on Windows shares
rsync 2.5.6 is hanging in cygwin, at the end when it should print a summary of
bytes sent etc and exit. It has successfully copied all the files before
hanging.
It does this every time when copying to or from a Windows share. (It sometimes
hangs when copying from one local drive location to another, but I have not
tested this as thoroughly.)
The Windows shares are almost certainly on Windows

r-api-3 with R 3.5.2. on Stretch: is there a workaround?
Chris,
yes, the workaround is to install from within R. The alternative would be to
increase the coverage of this repo, as currently mainly the recommended
packages are supported. Another alternative would be to create a new, richer
repo...
Kind regards,

rsync hangs on w2k server running cygwin
Hi,
I'm having trouble getting a clean run of rsync on a w2k server running
cygwin. Basically, it appears that the commands are running to completion
(i.e. files are being copied) but the command does not return to a command
prompt (or continue to the next command when run via a script).
The machine is a w2k server completely up-to-date with all service packs
(SP2) and updates. I have just

rsync still hangs on cygwin 1.5.6-1 and 1.5.7
Hi,
Rsync is still hanging under cygwin for me. I'm using rsync 2.6.0 and i've tried cygwin-1.5.6-1 as well as a snapshot of 1.5.7.
I've noticed that some people are having success. I shouldn't have to do anything interesting in order to make this work, right?

rsync and cygwin on win XP freeze/hanging
I am running rsync under cygwin on a winXP pro system. Cygwin is the most
recent version (1.3.12-2) and rsync 2.5.5 protocol 26.
It seems that almost %50 of the time, rsync hangs after the last file is
done syncing. When it's hung, I can press ctrl-c, and an error message:
rsync error: received SIGUSR1 or SIGINT (code 20) at rsync.c(229)
pops out. It does not exit, however, and I must
