eigen() error: R Version 1.6.1 on Mac OS X (PR#2550)
Consider this matrix:

Solaris), I obtain:

samba and OS X
Hello,
We are having this issue with samba and OSX 10.2.3. We are using
freebsd4.7 serving samba as a fileserver for our company, we have a mix
of windows and macs connecting to it. The windows machines work just
fine the macs are another story.
I have narrowed it down to this: I can open a file/document from the
fileserver on my mac and edit it but it tells me I dont have the
permissions to

joining xp to domain
I have a mac osx 10.2.3 as a server, anyone unfamiliar with it, it uses
admin as main user. root is still on the system. Admin is admin of the
password server which is required to login to samba. therefore root can't
be the one to join. yet admin doesn't have rights to modify smbpasswd.
I know the smb.conf config should work.
I have added the users and machines using smbpasswd

samba.org Solaris binary is incompatible with Mac OS 10.2.x as client
More precisely what I've discovered is, at least in the cases of 2.2.8a
and 3.0alpha22, when a 64-bit Samba is built with Sun's Forte compiler
you'll end up with something incompatible with Mac OS 10.2.3.
I always compile Samba myself with Sun's compiler to produce a 64-bit
Samba. Well yesterday it came to my attention that Mac OS 10.2.x doesn't
work with whats on my main

Darwin binary
I am looking for help how to install the Darwin binary under MacOS X
10.2.3 on a G4 or G3 powermac or recent iBook.
Download of the binary yielded a file "tincd-1.0-darwin-powerpc-dynamic"
This file is not recognized by the OS X installer, apparently it is
not a package.
I am well familiar with the Mac (GUI), have some basic knowledge in
Unix and networking, and no experience with

os x and samba performance vs netatalk
Client:
Dual 1GHz G4 OSX 10.2
Gig-Ethernet
Server:
Dual 2GHz P4 Linux 2.4.18
Raid-5 1TB
Gig-Ethernet
With netatalk 1.5.5 I get sustained writes of 66MB/s (yes, megabytes)
With samba 2.2.7a I get sustained writes of 15MB/s
I've tweaked the settings and ended up with these:
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_KEEPALIVE

security = domain and Mac OS X
I've set up Samba on Mac OS X to do pass through authentication to
the nt domain in AD several times now. No big deal, it usually just
works.
Now, however, it doesn't appear to be working. Note the relevant part
of the transaction below (loglevel 4).
Steps to replicate:
a) Add pre-Win2K account with AD Users and computers
b) sudo smbpasswd -j EXAMPLE -r WINSERVER -U

Sweave & xtable
I'm trying to get Sweave running for automatic report generation, and
it seems to run fine when just using verbatim output. However, I've ran
into a problem with xtable. I would like to print the following matrix
using xtable:
> dim(counts)
[1] 19 15
All columns are filled with real/integer numbers > 0 and < 1000. Just
typing xtable(counts) gives correct LaTeX output, but

Icecast 2.0 in OS X Server?
Folks;
I am having a hell of a time trying to get IceCast 2.0 installed on an
Apple XServe running OS X 10.2.3. The problem seems to stem from one
of the libraries required by IceCast, specifically libvorbis.
When running MAKE in an attempt to install libvorbis I get the
following:
<p>Making all in examples
/bin/sh ../libtool --mode=link gcc -DDARWIN -fno-common

R 1.7.0 fails to compile on OS X 10.2.5
Hello -
I'm trying to compile R 1.7.0 on a PowerBook running OS X 10.2.5. I've
compiled R (1.6.2) successfully before on this machine, under either
10.2.3 or 10.2.4. My gcc is from the latest Apple Developer Tools
release and the g77 is up-to-date via Fink. R passes ./configure just
fine, with the following options:
R is now configured for powerpc-apple-darwin6.5

Mac R spinning wheel with Package Manager (PR#14005)
Full_Name: James Howison
Version: 2.9.2
OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8
Submission from: (NULL) (128.2.222.163)
For quite a while now I have been unable to use Package Manager to install
programs. I get the spinning wheel and long lock ups. This happens when I hit,
"get list", but that eventually returns, seemingly successfully. However it
also happens when I try to install a package, the whole
