-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I''m a rails newbie trying to develop a blog application with rails. I''ve some troubles to find the best way of automaticly set a field value on update and creation of a blog item. In fact my problem is very simple. I''ve a blog table with two column named create_date an mod_date. And I''d like : 1 - that

Accessing global variables arrays result in inlined getelementptrs
Hello, Using LLVM+clang to do some static analysis, I face some issues due to the fact that when manipulating arrays that are global variables, IR getelementptr instructions seem to be somehow inlined. For example: int a[256]; int main() {     a[0] = 1; } gives as a result the following IR code (with clang+llvm 8, without any flag). @a = common dso_local global [256 x i32]

x86 instructions EFLAGS in TableGen
Hello, Here is one question regarding the LLVM TableGen: Which file in the llvm/lib/Target/X86 folder describes how the bits in the EFLAGS register are modified by the x86 instructions? For example, in the "X86InstrInfo.td" file, lines 2134-2135, it says: let SchedRW = [WriteALU], Defs = [EFLAGS], Uses = [EFLAGS] in { def CLC : I<0xF8, RawFrm, (outs), (ins), "clc",

rsync out of memory problem
Using an rsync (V2.5.6, Tru64 Unix 5.1A) command of the form: rsync -avz --delete /some/dir remhost:/some/other/dir where /some/dir has about 460,000 files in it, I get: building file list ... done ERROR: out of memory in make_file rsync error: error allocating core memory buffers (code 22) at /usr/common/src/rsync-2.5.6/util.c(115) rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (8 bytes read so far)

Dirvish, --link-dest and permissions
(I'm not sending this to dirvish@pegasus because I think that this message applies more to rsync's --link-dest option than to just dirvish.) I recently noticed a huge spike in dirvish network usage and traced it to files whose permissions had been changed. (with rsync v2.5.6) I understand and agree that a --link-dest copy of a source file cannot be hardlinked to, but couldn't a

[Patch] Require extra --stats to emit heap statistics
Since the heap statistics were added, I have viewed thousands of rsync reports (with --verbose and --stats), and not once have I had a need for them. So for me, they're just noise. Here is a 3-part patch to v2.5.6 that treats --stats in a similar fashion to --verbose in that additional --stats will get you more statistics. For this initial case, there's only one additional level of

A few suggestions and perspectives from a PhD student
Thanks for the answers, I?m aware of the ?.? option, just wanted to give a very simple example. But the lapply ??' parameter use has eluded me and thanks for enlightening me. What do you mean by messing up the call stack. As far as I understand it, piping should translate into same code as deep nesting. So then I only see a tiny downside for debugging here. No loss of time/space efficiency

PXELINUX and PowerSave Mode ...
We have a lot of diskless Linux clients which are booting via PXELINUX or ETHERBOOT. The problem is that they are on for 24 hours and APM PowerSave mode works for ETHERBOOT only. But in the future we want to use PXELINUX only, which seems to have no features for APM or ACPI PowerSave included. Would it be possible to integrate such features in PXELINUX or is there a way to boot a special image

rsync/cygwin - strange behavior with VFAT-formatted USB-disk
Hi, we do a nightly backup using rsync (v2.5.6 as server on RedHat 7.3 and rsync 2.5.5 on Windows 2000/Cygwin). The backup media connected to the Windows-Client is a VFAT-formatted Maxtor USB-Disk. Everytime I run rsync from the windows-client, the following error occurs: --- <snip> --- rsync.exe -avzr --compress --stats --delete --timeout=240 --modify-window=2 rsync@server::development

Large RAM (> 4G) and rsync still dies?
Hello. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this: We've got a production server with _LOTS_ of files on it. The system is a dual XEON with 4GB of RAM. During the evening, the load is very low. Linux shows (via 'top') that approximately 3G of RAM is cached RAM, and 500M is buffered. That, if my understanding is correct, should leave us with 3.5G of available memory to draw

A few suggestions and perspectives from a PhD student
Regarding the anonymous-function-in-a-pipeline point one can already do this which does use brackets but even so it involves fewer characters than the example shown. Here { . * 2 } is basically a lambda whose argument is dot. Would this be sufficient? library(magrittr) 1.5 %>% { . * 2 } ## [1] 3 Regarding currying note that with magrittr Ista's code could be written as: 1:5

unexpected result in glm (family=poisson) for data with an only zero response in one factor
Dear members, here is my trouble: My data consists of counts of trapped insects in different attractive traps. I usually use GLMs with a poisson error distribution to find out the differences between my traitments (and to look at other factor effects). But for some dataset where one traitment contains only zeros, GLM with poisson family fail to find any difference between this particular traitment

rsync incremental backup problem with --backup-dir switch
Hello, I am using rsync v2.5.6 to backup our entire server filesystem over the network to a central backup server. I have copied the example script from the rsync website (http://rsync.samba.org/examples.html) to create incremental backups, the --backup-dir seems to have a strange side-effect. Everything goes well, but on the server side where the backup is stored I can't seem to break out

rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (Broken pipe)
I'm experiencing some unexpected behavior with rsync v2.5.6. After looking around it seems like several people have experienced similar problems in the past, but those appear to be old bugs that are solved now. Also doesn't appear to be any direct bugfixes made for this issue since 2.5.6. The strange thing is that things seem to work when I use ssh for transport. However now I need to

rsync+ssh2 from Tru64 unix to linux has intermittent hangs.
This is odd: We're using rsync to mirror multiple directories from a server to two clients. The server is running Tru64 v5.1a, client A is running Redhat Linux 8.0, and client B is running Tru64 v4.0g. The mirrors for both clients are running at the same time interval (10 minutes, offset by 5 minutes). All machines are running rsync v2.5.6, and using ssh2 v3.2.3 as the

Problem and Patch: Multiple keys in ssh.com V2 agent
Hello! I recently discoverd a problem with ssh.com's ssh-agent2 and OpenSSH: If I have more than one key in my agent, then the agent tries to authenticicate me with every one of them at the OpenSSH server; but none of them is a valid key for that server. The Problem is that the Server increments the authctxt->attempt at every of that tries. So even if you want to login with a password at

TAG-mess
Hi, <p>here's my €0.02 on that topic. First of all, all those new tags are total overkill to be standardized. They're only useful for people who both tag OGG files for a living and listen to classical music only. Imagine what will happen when the Jazz fans, and the Techno fans, and the Rock fans and who knows else demands his very own, customized + standardized set of tags. And

A few suggestions and perspectives from a PhD student
Dear Sir or Madam, I am in 2nd year of my PhD in bioinformatics, after taking my Master?s in computer science, and have been using R heavily during my PhD. As such, I have put together a list of certain features in R that, in my opinion, would be beneficial to add, or could be improved. The first two are already implemented in packages, but given that it is implemented as user-defined operators,

safe_strcpy problem in Samba 3.0.10
Hi! We have a lot of logfiles showing "zfl04.log.3: ERROR: string overflow by 1 (24 - 23) in safe_strcpy [organisation#rektorat#vrlehre#qe-eval]" I found a reported bug producing this output within older Samba versions than 3.0.4 . But we use version 3.0.10 and no mangling method set within smb.conf . Therefore it should be the defaultvalue hash2 which doesn't have this flaw.
