colors for background and plotting area
Dear all,
I am trying to prepare some figures where I'd like the color of the plot region
(i.e., the area bounded by the axes) to be different from the margin area
(i.e., the area of the figure not within the axes region). I can use "bg" but
that changes the background of everything? How can I accomplish what I want?
Thanks,
Ramon

Sieve script problem (don't know if is it possible to do this)
Hello:
I'm loosing my mind trying to classify my outgoing messages with
sieve-test (2.0.9, centos 6.4). It came to the point I think it's not
even possible with a sieve script.
I need to classify my outgoing messages in three folders:
1- To my department (@dept.example.com)
2- To my company (@example.com, @anyotherdept.example.com)
(anyotherdept.example.com as in a way to say "any

works in R-1.1.1 but not in R-development; why?
Dear All,
A library (PHYLOGR) that passed the usual tests in R-1.1.1 gives errors with
R-devel; my (mis?)understanding of scoping rules is
that it should have worked in both. The problems seem related to using the
name of the data frame for extracting weights or subsets within a function
call. The problems can be reproduced as follows:

2.5.6: a number of minor issues
I just picked up rsync 2.5.6 and installed it. I haven't actually
_used_ it for anything yet; this is entirely about a handful of minor
issues I noticed while building it. You may care or you may not; for
simplicity of language (to avoid many repeated "in case you care" and
such), the text below is written assuming you care about them all.
On a (32-bit) SPARC system, I noticed:

How to call R functions from a C++ program
Dear R experts,
Could anyone give some concrete examples of how to call R functions from a
program written in C++?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Spa3k and ISDN
Hello all,
I have an ISDN termination box (TR1) that converts ISDN(Bri) to 2 normal
analogue lines. The same number is assigned to these lines. These lines are
connected to 2 spa3k registered to my asterisk box.
When calls arrive, TR1 try to pass call to the first spa. If spa not takes
the call immediately then try to pass to the other spa. The only
configuration I found works is to put the

Difference in ANOVA results - R vs. JMP/Minitab
Hi,
I ran a small data set from a factorial experiment through R, Minitab
and JMP... the result from R is significantly different from what
Minitab or JMP give... The data set is at the following link:
http://www.personal.psu.edu/nug107/Uploads/2x3_16repsANOVA.txt
The first 5 columns are the factors and the next three are responses.
In particular, for the response beta11MSE, two of the

24/96 ?
Hi people,
looking around for a new audiocard, my eye fell on the
M-audio audiophile 2496. It has 4 digital in/out and
is 24bit, 96kHz. The sound quality is very good,
if I can believe the reviews.
<p>My question is: can vorbis do 24bit, 96kHz ?

nut problem on boot/restart
hi!
When I turn on my pc everything works fine, but if I restart fails (I'm not sure if this is true at 100%)?(then, i can do 'sudo /etc/init.d/nut restart' and it works)
But what is certain is that sometimes when start up the pc it works and sometimes fails, can be a problem with the start time (i have a fast ssd) and the initialization of the driver and the usb port?
thanks!

creating a dynamic output vector

foreach %do% and %dopar%
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a script trying to use foreach %dopar% but without success,
so I manage to run the code with foreach %do% and looks like this:
The code is part of a MCMC model for projects valuation, returning the most
important results (VPN, TIR, EVA, etc.) of the simulation.
foreach (simx = NsimT, .combine=cbind, .inorder=FALSE, .verbose=TRUE) %do% {

New package: noia
Hi the list,
A new version (0.92) of my package 'noia' will be available soon on CRAN
mirrors, and I think it might be a good opportunity to introduce it
shortly to the R community.
In summary: 'noia' will be of absolutely no interest for 99.99% of you.
The 0.01% remaining are quantitative geneticists who are interested in
measuring the effect of genes in a proper way.

iplots
Hi guys,
I am trying to plot a scatterplot with lines instead of with points using function iplot in library iplots.
The best I can come up with is
x =(1:100)
y = rnorm(100)
iplot(x,y,ptDiam=0)
ilines(x,y)
Do you guys know of any paramter to set the "type" in iplot or iplot.opt?
Thanks,
Fernando ?lvarez
