[PATCH] rsync on cygwin - textmode config files
I've been running rsync-2.4.2 with an old patch of mine for some time for backup purposes. Due to the recent remote bug, I thought it was time to upgrade, even if the host was behind a firewall. So I dug up the old patch (2.5.2 version attached), that I think I sent ages ago to this list as well. It does the following: (1) Firstly, the only sensible way to run something as

[PATCH] open O_TEXT and O_BINARY for cygwin/windows

Stratus VOS implements O_TEXT and O_BINARY but does not recognize "t". We have the options defined in ANS C and in POSIX. I'm at home and don't have my reference

[PATCH] hivex: Add O_BINARY flag to open calls for platforms where this isn't the default (such as Win32)
Hi As my cross platform registry editor (FRED available from https://www.pinguin.lu (sorry for advertising but I couldn't resist ;-))) is evolving, I recently added write support to it. While under Linux everything worked nice, the Windblows build didn't. It seems that Windows opens files by default in text mode (O_TEXT) which is a problem. The attached patch adds the O_BINARY flag to

working on a 2.5.6pre1 release
I'm working on trying to get rsync 2.5.6pre1 available for people to test more widely. I'm out of time for today, and I'm stuck on a problem that some machines on build.samba.org are showing on the 'chgrp' test. I can reproduce this on my home redhat 7.3 system too. It appears to be a timing problem because when I do strace -F -f on it the problem goes away. Everything seems

[cygwin] Fwd: Updated: rsync-2.6.2-3
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Here goes the announcement of the 2.6.2-3 package for cygwin (available from cygwin's setup itself). If you wonder what "2.6.2-3" means, it's basically the third "cygwin package" that uses rsync-2.6.2 sources. This third attempt solves both the august security fix and the textmode bug that 2.6.2-2 had. follows the

rsync 2.5.5, "unexpected tag failures", Solaris 2.6 vs. 2.8, "--b locking-io" workaround
Hi, I have been having a problem that seems related to previously reported problems but persists. I am syncing from a 2.6 Solaris box to a 2.8 solaris box. All are running rsync 2.5.5. When I sync (commands simplified for example, always using rsh): 2.8box% rsync -e rsh 2.6box:/path/path/stuff/ /path/path/newstuff/ i.e., the 2.6 box is the server, I get spurious, persistent but inconsistent

How to setup Rsync as an NT Service
For a recent project I needed to run Rsync as a service on Windows NT. The following is a link to the instructions I created to recreate my steps. http://members.home.net/cbollerud2/projects/rsync/NTService.html The "no-fork" patch used here is very similar to the "no-detach" option mentioned in many previous posts. I wish I could take credit for it, but I basically put

Rsync Performance In Windows
Has anyone else experienced high CPU usage when using RSYNC in windows 2000 server? I am using the rsync.exe (and applicable DLL's) from the cygwin installation (I am not however running cygwin on this machine). The linux machine connecting to the windows rsync daemon has a very low performance hit when the session is running (see below). However, the windows machine, which has a much

SIGUSR1 or SIGINT error
Howdy, We occassionally get the following error when running our nightly backups: rsync error: received SIGUSR1 or SIGINT (code 20) at rsync.c(229) This happens more on one or two machines than on any of the others. We've looked high and low to see if we're mistakenly sending these signals, but nothing is that we can find. Does anyone know what this might be from? Is it the server

Port of OpenSSH-2.1.1p4 to Cygwin
Hi, since the previous port of OpenSSH to Cygwin, there's happened a lot with Cygwin. We have worked hard to allow a more smooth porting of UNIX applications which results in two major advantages: - There's no need to use so called `text mode' in open calls anymore. - With only less interventions in the applications code the concept of real and effective uid's is supported
