HELP !!! Problem with file timestamps updating "weird" during rsync data pull
Running rsync 2.3.1, 2.4.1, and 2.5.5 on Solaris 8 on various system. I'm using rsync to pull data over for collecting performance data for graphing in Orca. What I'm seeing is the timestamps from time to time of the data files is being setup "weird" on the system the data is being pulled to. The timestamp should match that of the system the data is pulled from right ?

RJava and Orca...
It's cool, it's exciting, and much thanks to Duncan. He announced RJava yesterday (or this morning?) on the R-devel list, and it's really worth it. http://www.omegahat.org/RSJava for more details. But it does mean that we can run Orca code directly within R, (without Thomas' socket connections) (and also means that we really need a "stop" button, since killing

Bad message_id occasionally when connecting a MacOS to a freebsd running 4.8.2
Hi, I am running Samba 4.8.2 with fruit and use it to connect a MacOS to the server. Mostly it works very good, but occasionally the connection halts or the Mac disconnects, and in the log I find these messages: Jun 20 13:00:00 orca smbd[6033]: [2018/06/20 13:00:00.856101, 0] ../source3/smbd/smb2_server.c:641(smb2_validate_sequence_number) Jun 20 13:00:00 orca smbd[6033]:

Question re:S4 classes and design; clashing classes?
Thanks to Duncan's recent work on SJava, I've got a (so far) stable platform to put together the R-Orca interface (dynamic graphics, including brushing, subseting, etc). While the first version will be looking at installation issues and study basic user interfaces for providing a few working examples, it will be important for this particular package to look at how one integrates a

Delay on first Attempt to resolve PDC host name
I am using samba 2.2.1a , in an NT-4 domain. security = DOMAIN on the first logon to the samba server, I can see a message: Attempting host lookup for name MYPDCNAME<0x20> the next message appears after 10 seconds (that is the delay). samba tries to resolve MYPDCNAME with the wins server, and succeeds. Higher debug level (debug level = 10) does not produce more debug messages. Any ideas

PXE Question....
Hi, We are using PXELinux 1.75, ISC DHCP 3.0pl1 and atftp-0.6 to deploy RH 7.3 across a number of Dell Rackmount systems. I would like to set things up so that the RH boot kernel grabs the IP Address, gateway aand DNS address from the first DHCP request with 'ipappend 1', but so far have had no success, Kickstart issue a seconed request after booting the kernel. Here are my configs:

First sample release of the R-Orca package.
For all those few of you who care about weird statistical visualization software, I've finally made available a "test" release for R-Orca. There are examples of a 2-d variable selection plot (i.e. 2-d straight projection, with selection of the 2 variables to view), a GrandTour plot, and a Simplicial data plot. The points of interest are the ability to brush and select from the

Zoom enhancements
I'll be working on zoom during Google summer of code, to get it to work better with existing accessibility software. Basicly get it to communicate with tools like Orca. Because this relies on input enabled zoom, there are some issues I like to clear up before I start. I don't want to directly base my work on any of the two publicly available zoom plugins. This means I'll be creating a

density estimation in two dimensions
Hello, I am a newbie to R and the subject of density estimation in two dimensions or more. I would like to have some advice concerning a comparison between the R packages for density estimation in bivariate or higher order problems; I mean explicitly the packages: 1) ash 2) KernSmooth 3) locfit 4) sm. My specific problem now is having a set of numerical pairs (x_i, y_i), arising from a

vpnc versus Shorewall problem
Hi everybody, I have been using Shorewall for quite a while now but I recently stumbled over a new setup that stopped me cold. I don''t know how to proceed: I have an ordinary GNU/Linux box (2.6.11) connected to a nonpublic network with one interface eth0 which gets an IP through DHCP like 172.17.x.y. Traffic is not routed to the Internet in this subnet. In order to connect to the

big data file versus ram memory
Hi there I am new to R and would like to ask some questions which might not make perfect sense. Anyhow, here they are: 1) I would like very much to use R for processing some big data files (around 1.7 or more GB) for spatial analysis, wavelets, and power spectra estimation; is this possible with R? Within IDL, such a big data set seems to be tractable... 2) I have heard/read that R

Is anyone using the Orca screenreader?
Orca is a daemon written in Python and C which presents the contents of a Gnome screen to a blind person in speech or braille. It is on the CentOS 5.6 disks. Has anyone on this list used it? If so, what was your experience? I am developing the BrailleBlaster tactile literacy application. Since I am both blind and deaf, I will be using a braille display. I also need to make sure that the

--keep-dirlinks in combination with --one-file-system
I've been using the --keep-dirlinks feature of 2.6.3pre1. I also use -x (--one-file-system) and --delete-after. The symlinked directories on the receiver are symlinked to a partition other than the one where the target of the rsync resides (that's the whole point of this nifty --keep-dirlinks feature). I discovered that the symlinked directories are not being processed for deletions.
