Preserving argument splitting with SSH
I'm using:
% ssh -V
SSH Version OpenSSH-1.2.3, protocol version 1.5.
Compiled with SSL.
% uname -a
Linux gellar 2.2.13 #1 SMP Wed Dec 29 14:07:41 PST 1999 i686 unknown
and am wondering whether it's a fundamental shortcoming of the SSH
protocol that argument splitting is not preserved from client to server,
but instead the argument list is re-split on whitespace. E.g., from my

[LLVMdev] bending the limits of tbaa metadata
Hi,
I work on DDC, the compiler of a research Haskell dialect, Disciple (disciple.ouroborus.net (http://disciple.ouroborus.net)). We are looking to make use of LLVM's type-based alias analysis metadata to encode non-aliasing information between variables. We have found that the tbaa structure is somewhat limited in its expressivity. In particular we couldn't encode intransitive

Problems with IPTABLES recent module.
I went to reload (iptables-restore) my iptables configuration and
obtained an error at the COMMIT statement. No further details were
provided even when I ran restore with the -v option.
I determined that none of my backed up configuration files going
back to October will load either. This is more than passing strange
because I altered and uploaded the iptables configuration on this
host several

Wishlist: addition to FAQ 2.7
After making quite a few circles around one particular issue (and
eventually resolving it) I have a suggestion to make:
Append the following to http://www.openssh.org/faq.html#2.7
"NOTE: In order to agent forwarding to work you need to have xauth
installed in the remote host. In Debian xauth is in 'xbase-clients'
package."
And about that "F" in

donations / wishlist
Since some people don't like Paypal and other people have been telling
me for years to create Amazon wishlist, I figured I'd finally do it.
http://dovecot.org/donate.html now contains URL to the wishlist.
Currently it mostly contains all kinds of TV series DVDs (feel free to
laugh at what I watch :), but I also managed to remember a couple of
books I wanted.

Paypal donation or Amazon wishlist for core team?
Is there any Paypal donation or Amazon wishlist for rails core team
members?
I know programming in Ruby & Rails should be reward enough, but its
probably not a bad idea to let rails users express their appreciation in
this way.

Wishlist: axis() and line widths (PR#7223)
Full_Name: Tom Short
Version: 1.9.1
OS: Win2000 & Debian
Submission from: (NULL) (64.65.255.41)
WISHLIST:
axis() has a default parameter of "lwd = 1". I want skinnier lines as the
default. If I change the default lty, it doesn't change what axis uses.
The following code produces a graph with a box around it, but the axis lines are
twice as thick as the box around the plot, so

[Wishlist] another level of logging
Hello - got a small wishlist item here:
The currently available LogLevel settings (according to the man page)
are:
QUIET, FATAL, ERROR, INFO, VERBOSE and DEBUG.
Using "INFO" causes messages about RSA key re-generation to appear in
the auth logs. However using the next-lower LogLevel of "ERROR" causes
client IP and port to not be reported in the auth logs.
I was hoping for

Speex wishlist
Jean-Marc,
I was wondering if you could add a check to ensure that memory is actually
allocated during the nb_encoder_init and sb_encoder_init functions. We have
been looking at using Speex on a DSP and noticed that if we didn't allocate
a large enough heap space memory segment that the DSP would crash. I would
recommend something like:
if (!st->stack) fprintf(stderr,"ERROR

Wishlist: user-specified color names for palette() (PR#4836)
Full_Name: Hsiu-Khuern Tang
Version: 1.8.0
OS: GNU/Linux (Debian unstable)
Submission from: (NULL) (156.153.255.243)
Hi,
I use palette(rgb(red=..., green=..., blue=..., names=mycolors)) to define my
own color palette. After doing this, the names `mycolors' are not stored in
palette() anymore, so that palette() returns a mix of built-in color names and
RGB values.
Eg:
> palette()

wishlist: building packages
I have collected together some wishlist items from my
recent experience in package building. Some of these
are also in other posts but I thought I would put them
in one place. This all refers to Windows XP R 2.0.1 beta.
1. Would it be possible to put the whole package building
process into R, at least for packages that do not use C,
so (a) one could leverage R's debugging facilities? (b)

Wishlist: fix error in documentation for body<- (PR#13318)
Full_Name: Fabian Scheipl
Version: 2.8.0
OS: Windows, Linux
Submission from: (NULL) (138.246.7.150)
It seems to me that the documentation for body<- is wrong.
The help file for
body(fun, envir = environment(fun)) <- value
says that:
value can be an expression or a list of R expressions.
This produces errors however:
