direct write patch
I have attached a patch that supports a new "--direct-write" option. The result of using this option is to write directly to the destination files, instead of a temporary file first. The reason this patch is needed is for rsyncing to a device where the device is full or nearly full. Say that I am writing to a device that has 1 Meg free, and a 2 meg file on that device is out of date.

print matrix content on plot
Hi, I saved as a matrix a summary of a PCA analysis and I've used barplot to plot the PCA variances. I would like to print on the same graphic the values of my matrix m1 - in other words the summary of my PCA analysis. I can do it very painstaking with text for each row and make sure that everything aligns and so on but i wonder if there is a better method than that. My summary follows:

Problem with roaming profiles
Hi After changing from samba 2.2.7 to 3.0.rc2 I can't get roaming profiles work. Clients Are W2K and XP. I've also switched from smbpasswd backend to ldap. Logon path is only set in smb.conf, not in ldap. Storing of profiles is working but it takes very long. I've tried logon path = \\wilma2\profile\Win2K and \\wilma2\profile. But the clients are always storing profile in

looking for a better ATA
I currently us Linksys/Ciscio, Grandstream and AudioCodes ata's. none of the three perform well in all enviroments. Between stablity issues, T38 and DTMF talkoff all three suffer some combination of issues. I am looking at Patton and Innomedia. Has any one tried either brand and what is your experience with them. Which would be the base for stability, audio quality, provisioning, DTMF

patch - forceshell
Attached is a simple patch which allows an auth param 'shell=' like 'command=' When specified, sshd will use this shell instead of the one in /etc/passwd or the default shell. This patch allows you can have some chrooted shell (actually any shell) associated with a specific key. You could do this with command=, but then the command given to ssh will be ignored, and scp will not

Sudden appearance of SIP/2.0 401 Unauthorized
Yesterday we moved one of our servers to a new IP. We updated DNS and various adapters configured to register to that server registered to the new IP correctly. All seemed to be well. This evening I discovered that with one exception, all of the adapters are getting a SIP/2.0 401 Unauthorized message back from asterisk. The exception is an Innomedia adapter -- Linksys PAP2's and (I

strange problem printing to windows box
My wife has just gotten a new printer which works perfectly when connected either to her Win98 box or to my woody box. However I am unable to share the printer between the two machines. Here are my choices in order of increasing desireability. I could of course just move the cable whenever I want to print from my box. This is the obviously least desireable option. The windows machine can

Losing registration - ast 1.4.39 and innomedia 6328-2Re
All, I'm having a problem with an Innomedia 6328-2Re (old Sunrocket Gizmo). It keeps losing registration after a period of time ranging from a few minutes to a few hours. It seems that right before it loses registration, it fails to send a second register (after the 401 unauthorized). Here's a transcript from wireshark (at the end). The last message is all that's received and

How does Vonage support fax machines?
My boss is insisting we support fax, and I keep telling him that Fax over IP is very unreliable and not recommended and his immediate come-back is "Vonage does it." and it's very hard to figure out how. I don't think Vonage does T.38, the Linksys/Sipura units they're using doesn't support T.38 to my knowledge. That means they have to be using G.711Ulaw to send faxes.
