ext4 mount fails with "resize inode not valid" after a reboot
With kernel 2.6.30-rc2-git6 and prior I am having problems mounting ext4 partitions after reboot. A successful mount looks like this: /dev/cciss/c0d0p8 on /squid-cache0 type ext4 (rw,noexec,nodev,noatime,data=writeback,errors=panic) /dev/cciss/c0d0p9 on /squid-cache1 type ext4 (rw,noexec,nodev,noatime,data=writeback,errors=panic) /dev/cciss/c0d0p10 on /squid-data type ext4

2.6.21: ext3 related crash
One of our squid proxies crashed today. I was able to make a screenshot of it's last utterings - and since ext3 is being mentioned there, I thought I'd mention it here: http://www.arschkrebs.de/images/proxy-cbf-2-crash.png # uname -a Linux proxy-cbf-2 2.6.21 #1 SMP Thu Apr 26 11:17:54 CEST 2007 i686 GNU/Linux # mount /dev/cciss/c0d0p5 on / type auto (rw,errors=remount-ro) tmpfs on

tune2fs options
Is there any way of making operations like dropping and adding a journal: tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/local/my_dev and tune2fs -o journal_data -j -J device=LABEL=my-journal-device /dev/local/my_dev more verbose? It would be nice to know what's going on, since just sitting there can be quite unnerving! In the end, it all worked ok, but actually seeing progress can be soothing. -- Ralf

convert sas date format
Hi everybody, i have a csv-file, containing dates in an akward sas format, where 31.12.1559 is -1, 1.1.1960 is 1, 2.1.1960 is 2 and so on (see http://www.sfu.ca/sasdoc/sashtml/lrcon/zenid-63.htm ). Is there any function in R to convert this into YYYY-M-D easily? Best, Felix Dr. rer. nat. Dipl.-Psych. Felix Fischer Institut für Sozialmedizin, Epidemiologie und Gesundheitsökonomie Charité -

break error bars in ggplot2
Hello, i use ggplot to plot some measures including CIs as horizontal errorbars. I get an error when the scale limits are narrower than the boundaries of the error bar and hence the CIs are not plotted. library(ggplot2) df <- data.frame(resp=c(1,2), k=c(1,2), se=c(1,2)) ggplot(df, aes(resp,y=k)) + geom_point() + geom_errorbarh(aes(xmax = resp + se, xmin = resp - se)) +

migration 1.1.7 to 2.0.6
I'm thinking of migrating from 1.1.7 (default RPM on SUSE 11.1) to 2.0.6 compiled from source using the default locations. Any Gotchas to expect that are different to an upgrade from 1.2? Any hints from moving from RPM to compiling from source and retaining the default configuration under /usr/local? TIA -- Brian Duffell RiscPC600 | VRPC Sa-Adjust RISC OS 6.10 96Mb Linux PCs

Ongoing performance issues with 2.0.x
Due to the ongoing performance issues with 2.0.x I switched back to 1.2.15 yesterday evening, with no changes to the machine or my users. (I migrated from 1.2.15 to 2.0.x by converting the existing config) Today, we have MUCH LESS load, with the same number of logins/min. I cannot say what exactly causes this immense increase in load, but one observation is that the time spent in system() has

migration 1.2.5 -> 2.0.5 load increased dramatically
During norml operation this morning we're seeing a significantly increased load on the IMAP server (factor 5, from 5 to 25). Does dovecot need to rebuild index files or perform other IO intensive operations after the upgrade? We're using Maildir Our monitoring shows increased "system" time. We're runnign fewer processes, the IO rate ist identical to yesterday, memory usage

LMTP proxying
How exactly is LMTP proxying supposed to work? According to the example on http://wiki2.dovecot.org/PasswordDatabase/ExtraFields/Proxy I'm only seeing "proxy" in the password_query statements.
