[libvirt] [LXC] Tyring to locate livbvirt operations for LXC relocation
Hello, I am searching for the libvirt operations for relocating LXC (system or application) containers. LXC relocation mechanism is done by checkpoint / restart. I went over libvirt API documentation and found the following methods: virDomainSave that receives a domain and path to state file. The method saves domain's memory contents into a disk file. virDomainRestore that receives a domain

I just upgraded the syslinux on my g4l v0.31 alpha 05 for testing, and it comes up to the syslinux (isolinux) from the boot cd fine. Then when I select the kernel, the screen scrolls with the following lines for many iterations, and then it seems to load the kernel and run OK. 9B3F 9469 A30B 2300 8A79 75A0 F000 followed by 9 "0000" .ERROR: idle with IF=0 I only checked it with the

[LXC][Openstack] Clarifications needed on usage of libvirt-lxc for openstack
Hi everyone, I've some doubts regarding the usage/working of libvirt-lxc with openstack. I'm doing a project titled "Low density virtualization for Storage cloud" 1. Can i use libvirt for lxc with Openstack swift alone (excluding nova, glance and keystone)? If no what other openstack components should i use for virtualization? (Is it necessary to install openstack nova to do

How to enable mount loop device in LXC using libvirt LXC driver
When I try to mount loop device in a linux container, I got the following error message: mount: Could not find any loop device. Maybe this kernel does not know about the loop device? (If so, recompile or `modprobe loop'.) I wonder how to enable mount loop device in LXC using libvirt LXC driver? -- Thanks! Du Jun

Re: configuring a lxc guest to run 32bits from a 64bits host under libvirt-lxc
Hi again Answering my own e-mail on a few points: . first off, stupid me, http://libvirt.org/format.html indeed is empty and it seems to be by design, but the subtrees are not, like e.g. http://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html . from this page it seems like using something like <os> <type arch='i686'>exe</type> <init>/sbin/init</init> </os>

Re: configuring a lxc guest to run 32bits from a 64bits host under libvirt-lxc
Hi again Sorry for the late reaction on this.. So everything seems to work fine for me when using the setting below, except maybe for one little point I was kind of expecting that # virsh -c lxc:/// lxc-enter-namespace my_32bits_vm ... would run in a 32bits environment too, but from what I can see it is not the case I take it it can be argued, reading the documentation for lxc-enter-namespace

configuring a lxc guest to run 32bits from a 64bits host under libvirt-lxc
Hi there I have a couple of newbie questions concerning running a 32bits guest in a 64bits host using libvirt - lxc; I’m running libvirt-1.2.5 on fedora18 and fedora20 (a) is this supported at all, and (b) if so how do I configure this for a given guest ? guessing from the mere existence of http://www.redhat.com/archives/libvir-list/2011-February/msg01040.html I would think the answer to (a) is

creating a lxc image to be used with libvirt-lxc
Dear all, I'm moving my first baby steps with libvirt-lxc trying to convert over from an LXD installation and one of the hurdles is putting together an image. All the examples I found about libvirt-lxc refer to running /bin/sh in a container, almost as if it was docker, as opposed to run a "full system" like I've been doing with lxd. Also virt-install, often referred in libvirt

ok, thank you Daniel, that helps, I'll see if I can adapt it to other OS and figure out the docker style stuff, it would be useful to run a few things I have in mind. Btw, Daniel, have you ever tried to run libvirt inside a container? I was trying to do so to test things since I didn't want to get all the stuff installed on the host, but I got a whole bunch of errors and virt-manager

How to use lxc-containrs to run samba tests.
Hi, Actually I have to create multiple lxc-containers which will act as vm's and I want all my vm's to read and write the file at same time. Using samba I want to run smbtorture on all vm's at same time. But the difficulty is that I want to combine these two i.e lxc-containers and smbtorture both such that all the vm's start smbtorture at same time and end at same time. But in

GlusterFS server/client within LXC
Hello, currently we're doing a redesign of one of our web platforms. At the moment the webcontent is stored on a NFS share and rsync is used to sync data to a manual failover server (sucks). The new platform will be LXC based. I tested GlusterFS server and client (3.4.1) within a LXC container on ext4 without any problem. Do you think it is a bad idea to do so? Will there be any major

CentOS-6.0 and LXC
Hi Guys. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I would like to get into LXC and evaluate its usefulness compared with Linux-VServer. I notice that LXC is in tech preview upstream, however I am at a dead end trying to figure out how to get started. I cannot find any usertools in the rpm's that ship with CentOS 6. Is this because the tech preview requires me to get the tools

No /dev/tty device within LXC guest?
Hi all, When I create a LXC guest(RHEL5.4) via libvirt, the guest could boot successfully. I could ping to guest, but can not ssh into the it. The secure log in the guest shows that this is due to lack of '/dev/tty' device: # tail /path/to/rootfs/of/container/var/log/secure Jul 27 04:25:25 xen2143v sshd[671]: Accepted password for zhangyufang from 10.0.0.1 port 34102 ssh2 Jul 27 04:25:25

Question about libvirt / LXC
Hi there, I have a small simple question about libvirt and LXC containers. I know how to activate /dev/net/tun in an LXC container: #tun lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = c 10:200 rwm in the LXC config file. But, how to do that in a libvirt XML file? I just need to activate the /dev/net/tun device in an LXC container using libvirt. Thanks for your answers! Best regards. Sam
