virt-v2v and import of Debian OVAs
Hi Is virt-v2v able to import a debian guest from an OVA archive ? According to the "true" in convert_linux.ml, I would have said yes let matching = function | { i_type = "linux"; i_distro = ("fedora" | "rhel" | "centos" | "scientificlinux" | "redhat-based" |

Samba as an active directory
Dear, After a few attempts I now have my first Samba installed and running as active directory (on Debian-Turnkey) Topics I struggle with are not Samba itself, yet. I seek help to clarify wat is failing, what I did wrong or did not do yet. 1. Joining the domain: fails to resolve SRV type record for \_ldap.\_tcp.dc.\_msdcs.<domain> (typos here are mine, correct on machine) 2. Fail of 1 is

Where does bind9 DLZ store it's database for Samba4
I have installed the TKL Samba4 appliances as well as a bind 9.9.5 with the --with-gssapi and --with-dlopen compile options. I would like to replicate the DNS from this DC to several other geographically diverse Bind servers. We do NOT want to spin up more DCs, we JUST want to replicate the DNS (this requirement is coming from above me and must be met). So my question is, what database does

new easy-to-use, installable live CD of the Ruby on Rails framework
Hi guys, I am one of the developers for TurnKey Linux, an opensource project that aims to develop high-quality software appliances that are easy to use, easy to deploy, and free. Our motto is "everything that can be easy, should be easy!" We recently released TurnKey Ruby on Rails, an easy-to-use, lightweight, installable live CD of the Ruby on Rails web framework that can run on real

just installed rails on ubuntu, error creating rails dir -->unexpected token: ''#<RubyToken::TkLPAREN:
Hello there good rails people! Just did a fresh install of rails on my new (old) Ubuntu machine. I am running ruby 1.8.2 and have installed about five extra packages that do not come with Ubuntu. I managed to install ruby-gems and used gems to successfully install rails but I am getting an error message when I run rails, it seems to be choking on a Tkl paren. Google has not turned up much

samba server dependents
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I'm trying to build a solid samba(smb) network. I realize I will have to learn how to administer and connect other network software. I would like to lean toward building an AD type samba environment. So far the network software I believe I need to make this happen is: DNS(I want to use bind9), Kerberos(I want to use MIT), LDAP(openLDAP

Turnkey Samba 4 Solutions?
H - I'm a Resara Server user - Resara Server was a turnkey Samba 4 system. I have been lurking on this list, trying to decide what way to go for the future. I've seen some post regarding moving from Resara, but I'm not sure if I want to "get my hands dirty" - I've enjoyed the simplicity of Resara. Are there any other turnkey Samba solutions? Or simple cookbook solutions?

How to cleanly remove a DC from Samba domain?
I used Apache Directory Studio to remove the "RID Set" node and after that a simple "samba-tool computer delete DC2" worked just fine. Perhaps the version of Samba in TurnKey Linux V16.1 has a bug (4.9.5-Debian)? Likely demotion should remove leaf nodes from domain controllers as part of the process. I have now recreated DC2 using TurnKey Linux V17.1 (4.17.6-Debian) and so

Suggestions please about what I need.
I hate to use that "noob" word, but in this case I think it might be proper. Our company is getting ready to get rid of Netware and start using Samba. It will require that users log in and by doing so, have a login script map drives to particular drive letters base on either their user or group. I've been administering Centos servers for quite a while. I have no problem with

Turnkey alternatives to fonality or switchvox?
Hey all, First-time poster and been following the list for some time. Great postings, all... Currently we're implementing the voipconnection vs-1 for a customer. It's a decent device, and the included admin interface leaves a lot to be desired... The idea of the storing settings compact flash is nice, although sometimes they choose not to stick. All in all, we're thinking about

Hardware-based Icecast source client
Hi all, I'm in the midst of creating a turnkey Icecast source client embedded in a plug computer, using Ices2. I've hacked together some scripts to automate the starting and stopping of a live stream (launched by pressing buttons on the device). It's dead easy once the network/server is configured - you just plug it in, push a button and you're live. It accepts any Debian

Xapian packages in rpmforge?
hello folks! i've recently joined the rpmforge maintainers; given that Tim Brody has already written specfiles for RHEL4 and RHEL5, would you be interested in my adding the xapian packages to rpmforge? this would eliminate (or at least reduce) the need for you to maintain a separate repository and would mean that many users (those who have already configured their systems to pull

unconfig'ing a machine
The sys-unconfig script does not really work as advertised. For one thing it doesn't change the hostname. Is there an documentation about how to do the following: - Change the hostname, IP, networking etc for a currently networked machine - Change the hostname, IP, networking etc for a currently non-networked machine - Turn a networked machine into a non-networked machine. It will browse OK, and even make it to the abc.com site. However, when I try to run a video, it crashes. specific error is: "Move Media Player. The Plugin performed an illegal operation" This
