Since we agree on the first part I have divided it into two patches.

[PATCH 2/2] v2v: linux: try to trick vmware-uninstall-tools.pl
When installing the VMware tools from tarball, the installation script
rebuilds the initramdisk of all the available kernels to inject the
missing kernel drivers; in the end, the information on which kernels
were changed is recorded in the internal "database" of the installation
answers. When uninstalling the VMware tools, the uninstallation script
reads the saved answers, and in the

[PATCH 0/2] v2v: uninstall VMware tools on all Linux guests
Hi,
this patch series attempt to uninstall VMware tools on all the Linux
guests, and reduce the uninstallation time needed in some cases:
- v2v tries to workaround the slowest part of the tarball-installed
VMware tools
- v2v uninstalls the open source VMware tools (open-vm-tools)
Thanks,

[PATCH 0/2] v2v: uninstall the VMware Tools from Windows guests
It seems newer versions of VMware Tools for Windows can be uninstalled
also when the guest does not run on VMware anymore. Hence, attempt to
uninstall them during a conversion, reusing the same code already used
to uninstall Parallel Tools.
This was tested with the following Windows guests:
- Windows 2008r2
- Windows 2012r2
- Windows 2016
- Windows 7
- Windows 8
- Windows 10

[PATCH 2/2] v2v: windows: uninstall VMware Tools
It looks like VMware Tools support their unattended uninstallation even
after the guest is not running anymore on VMware.

[v2v PATCH] docs: remove paragraph about VMware tools on Windows
Starting from libguestfs/virt-v2v 1.39.12, virt-v2v attempts to
uninstall the VMware tools from Windows guests, so there is no need to
remove them manually before the conversion.

[PATCH] ESX: Always validate SSL certificate
Since fetching storage from ESX was split into separate HEAD and GET requests,
the SSL certificate has only been validated on the HEAD request. It should be
validated on both.

[PATCH] convert_windows: uninstall Parallels Tools on first boot
If present, Parallels Tools may stand in the way of proper running the
windows guests in non-Parallels hypervisors, so we're better off
uninstalling them on the first boot into the new environment.
With this patch, the uninstall records for Parallels Tools are looked up
in the registry and, if found, corresponding firstboot actions are
registered, taking special care that those actions are

[PATCH] ESX: Fix storage URL if storage has a snapshot
If an ESX guest has a snapshot, the path the libvirt driver gives us will look
like:
[yellow:storage1] RHEL4-X/RHEL4-X-000003.vmdk
instead of:
[yellow:storage1] RHEL4-X/RHEL4-X.vmdk
The current path mangling code does take this into account.
This change makes it use the current mechanism first, but try again after
removing a '-\d+' suffix if it gets a 404. Trying twice should make it

Uninstall Adobe Acrobat 7.0
Installed a 30 day trial of Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and I'm now trying to
"properly" uninstall.
I run "uninstaller" and the program shows up in the list of installed
programs. In Uninstaller: click on the program description to highlight
it and then clicking the Uninstall tab causes the hard drive to wobble
about a bit, the program becomes un-highlighted and the uninstaller

[PATCH 1/2] ESX: Look harder for potential transfer failures
Although I can't reproduce, I seem to have had an incomplete transfer which
wasn't picked up by the existing error handling. This change adds some more
sanity checks:
* Check for error on close() (should have been doing this anyway)
* Check that the bytes received == reported content length

Possible uninstall problem on windows.
I just uninstalled R 2.7.2 on Windows XP after having installed R 2.8.0
The uninstaller removed the String values
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\R-core\R\Current Version
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\R-core\R\InstallPath
despite the fact that they pointed to R 2.8.0
The uninstaller did not remove the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\R-core\R\2.7.2
(and all the values in that key)
I think the

VMware and multiple vmdk files
With VMWare (server), you can pre-allocate your image in several vmdk
files. But I have not bee able to mount that in guestfs.
On file (e.g. guest.vmdk) is a text file pointing to all the other
files (e.g. guest-f001.vmdk, guest-f002.vmdk,...).
I tried the following scenarios without success:
1- just adding the base vmdk: add_drive guest.vmdk
2- adding all the files:
add_drive guest-f001.vmdk

Shared storage between open Xen, VMware ESX, XenServer, KVM and a normal Linux...
Guys!
I have one fiber channel IBM storage (10T) and 8 HP Proliant servers with
32G of RAM on each and 1 HP with 4G of RAM.
My question is:
* How to use the same storage (block device) with all my different
virtualization servers simultaneously?
I have 2 open source Xen with CentOS 5.4, 2 VMWare ESX, 2 Citrix XenServer,
2 KVM powered by Ubuntu and 1 Debian exporting the IBM storage to a SAN

unable to connect with virt-v2v to VMWare
Hi,
I am trying to import and convert some VMWare guests from a VMWare cluster
with vCenter version 6, to a KVM (oVirt) host. The KVM node (RHEL 7.2) has
virt-v2v 1.28.1, though I've also tried using Fedora 23 which has 1.32.4.
The details are:
vCenter server: nssesxi-mgmt
Datacenter name: North Sutton Street
esxi server which runs the VM: nssesxi-mgmt04
folder name: Systems
VM name: wvm2
