second try; writing user-defined GLM link function
I apologize for my earlier posting that, unbeknownst to me before,
apparently was not in the correct format for this list. Hopefully this
attempt will go through, and no-one will hold the newbie mistake
against me.
I could really use some help in writing a new glm link function in
order to run an analysis of daily nest survival rates. I've struggled
with this for weeks now, and can at least

Solaris blastwave.org Version 3.0.23b doesn't read new information from /etc/passwd and /etc/group
Hi,
How would I make samba re-read group and user information? Is there a .tdb file that needs to be deleted?
I have recently added more supplementary groups for a user in /etc/group, but the information isn't coming through in the logs, all I get is this:
[2008/06/27 07:51:24, 5] auth/auth_util.c:(474)
UNIX token of user 11001
Primary group is 11000 and contains 0 supplementary groups

socketSelect(..., timeout): non-integer timeouts in (0, 2) (?) equal infinite timeout on Linux - weird
There's something weird going on for certain non-integer values of
argument 'timeout' to base::socketSelect(). For such values, there is
no timeout and you effectively end up with an infinite timeout. I
can reproduce this on R 3.3.1 on Ubuntu 16.04 and RedHat 6.6, but not
on Windows (via Linux Wine).

problem joining WinXP machine to samba PDC+LDAP environment
Hello,
I can't join a winxp box to my samba domain. I just have one samba
server, meant to act as a PDC for domain='CHI'.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot and/or remedy?
Thanks,

smbldap-tools v0.9.6.
I 'populated' the ldap with 'smbldap-populate'.

I did. My Gentoo samba service scripts starts smbd and nmbd. Oh. Ugh.
Sorry. Found an untweaked option in the samba service script
configuration file--that I had apparently known about while setting up
the AD DC--which was necessary to start

Using CHROOT jail in SFTP
Good afternoon,
I have been using OpenSSH 3.8p1 and added code to sftp-server.c so I could put users in chroot jail. When I setup a new system and downloaded OpenSSH 4.4p1 and tried the same patch it fails with the following in the /var/log/messages file:
sftp-server[11001]: fatal: Couldn't chroot to user directory /home/newyork/ftpbcc: Operation not permitted

socketSelect(..., timeout): non-integer timeouts in (0, 2) (?) equal infinite timeout on Linux - weird
I'd like to follow up/bump the attention to this bug causing the
timeout to fail for socketSelect() on Unix. It is still there in R
3.4.2 and R-devel. I've identified the bug in the R source code - the
bug is due to floating-point precisions and comparison using >=. See
PR17203 (https://bugs.r-project.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=17203)
for details and a patch. I've just

backend migration and Samba upgrade.
Short background :
Due to Windows Seven deplaoyment we have to upgrade Samba 3.0 to Samba
3.4 (actually less version but I see no reason not to go directly to 3.4).
And due to SQL backend support aborted we have to switch from SQL
backend to LDAP backend.
What I have in mind to do this migration is the following :
-install samba 34/OpenLDAP (I also change the machine in the meantime)
