Wine --managed
I'm running wine, and quite oftem, I use good ol' PROGMAN.EXE as an access point to my win-apps. I launch Progman with the --managed option, but any applications I run from within Progman, are not run with this option. This is also a problem with program such as Aol Instant Messenger, when it creates its own sub windows and what not. Is there any place where I can configure how wine apps

Loginname - mapping
Hi! I have a server with a few thousand mailboxes (for a few hundred domains) on it. The usernames are following several naming conventions: username_domain domain_username username_domain.tld username-domain domain.username The reason for this chaos is that the accounts were set up on different mailservers, some imail, some linux, some with virtualmin and some manually and

broken controls in "Captain Claw" game
Hi. I want to play the old '97 game "Claw". It installs and runs, but strangly I can't jump in it! No matter what I use, keyboard or gamepad. Normally, if you tap the spacebar, the character makes a low jump; if you hold the spacebar, he makes a high jump. However, under wine all jumps are low. Other movements work fine though. I even tried to run the game under winxp guest in

current deployment options
- Have been away from RoR development for a couple of years. - Will be doing a new project soon, starting with RoR 3.1. - This site will be hosted on a dedicated user-controlled server inside their intranet, so this question is not about hosting services. - Expect about 100,000 page views a day, with a bit more spikiness than normal around some shift changes, so provisioning as if for 500,000

How to: Run a DOS program using Wine
I have a new EeePC from ASUS with Xandros version of linux installed. I have installed wine, and believe that the installation works for at least some windows programs. Looking in the windows\system32 directory I see notepad and progman, both of which run and look reasonable. What I really want to do is to run a command window, i.e. cmd.exe. Even though it is there, when I attempt to execute

CentOS 7 Anaconda GUI resolution
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Greetings! I tried installing CentOS v7 (1406) to an old spare machine, and the video card apparently don't play well with X. It is incorrectly saying that either monitor I connect is only able to support 640x480, when one is 1024x768 and the other supports a higher (but now forgotten) resolution. In no way do I expect a fix to be added just to

Rep:Wine Setup
Sorry, I'm new to this group, therefore I couldn't answer until now. I think I may have some answers, all related to Wine source distrib, but they should be adaptable to CodeWeavers Wine: 1) Don't know... 2) for uninstalling win32 apps, you have to use "uninstaller". This program is in ./program/uninstaller from the wine source tree. It is very easy to install actually:

The Wine development release 3.0-rc1 is now available. This is the first release candidate for the upcoming Wine 3.0. It marks the beginning of the code freeze period. There have been many last minute changes, so please give this release a good testing to help us make 3.0 as good as possible. What's new in this release (see below for details): - Direct3D 11 enabled by default on AMD and

Windows Program Manager
Today I just thought of a great idea to organize my windows programs - use Program Manager. I noticed this comes with wine, and I run it but I can't do anything in it. I can create a program group but it gives me an error mentioning that it won't work with a Microsoft program manager. It won't allow anything else to be created. I tried a Windows XP and 2000 progman.exe, both of

Authoring a HOWTO
I am in the process of authoring a Samba-LDAP-PDC HOWTO for Mandrake users that will allow cross platform ( Linux / M$ ) network user authentication. Lastnight I ran rpm --rebuild --with ldap samba-2.2.7a-2mdk.src.rpm and it produced a list of packages that I needed to install in order to compile this version of samba. I did so but I neglected to write down the list. I did the install of

DIBEngine: GetDIBits and BitBlt
I am trying to run a Windows app on Mac using Wineskin. The app uses the functions GetDIBits and BitBlt for the purpose of capturing a snapshot of the screen. The problem is that these functions seem to behave a little different with Wineskin than in Windows. For example: HBITMAP hbm; hbm = (HBITMAP) GetCurrentObject(bitmapDC, OBJ_BITMAP); GetDIBits(bitmapDC, hbm, 0, 0, NULL, (LPBITMAPINFO)

Biometrics fingerprint scanner in RoR? Is it possible? and how?
I''m a graduating student of IT right now and in a couple of months, we''ll be starting on a new project in the University. My group and I decided to create a voting system which requires Fingerprint scanner to identify the voters and make the voting process more secured. I still don''t know how biometrics fingerprint scanner works exactly and I''ve just started
