@dim = Date.civil(2007,8,1).day fails on OS X
the above line of code always produces an "invalid date" when run via a
controller on OS X, ROR v1.2.3 install via MacPorts.
I ran the same controller on Kubunut 7 with no issue
thanks

Hi, I had to rearrange the user accounts on my iMac (10.6.8) and need to re-instal WINE from the new admin account since the original one got mucked up (for one thing, the .wine directory got deleted which is in user space). It's objecting to the activation of python27:

MacPorts version can't run 16-bit programs

Black+White and Total Annihilation
Hey all
I've been trying to get Black and White running under wine. I stick the
CD in the drive (wine programs can usually use it), cd to my BnW folder,
run "wine runblack.exe", twiddle my thumbs and it tells me to turn off
the debugger. So I try again with "wine --debugmsg -all runblack.exe".
This just results in the same thing, also printing one "FixMe.."

"Memory not mapped" when using .C, problem in Mac but not in Linux
Hello,
I am aware this may be an obscure problem difficult to advice about, but
just in case... I am calling a C function from R on an iMac (almost shining:
bought by my institution this year) and gives a "memory not mapped" error.
Nevertheless, exactly the same code runs without problem in a powerful
computer using SuSE Linux, but also on my laptop of 2007, 32 bits, 2 GB RAM,

Installing mysql with macports
Not sure if this is off topic, but there doesn''t seem to be an obvious
place to ask this question.
I am trying to use MacPorts to install mysql. I have xcode 3.0 and

convert command not found in movie3d (rgl package) in Mac OS X
Dear list,
I gave up trying to fix my movie3d (rgl library) issue in my PC
(completely black gif/png file) and went ahead and installed MacPorts
and ImageMagick onto my iMac (OSX ver 10.6.8). I think ImageMagick is
successfully installed in its default location (under /opt/local), and
I ran movie3d but I get the following error:

the state of wine under Mac Os X
Lately I've tried running some games under Snow Leopard, 10.6.4 to be precise, most of them being pre-Direct X 8 games, mainly for nostalgia reason.
Most of these games had no big problems running under Ubuntu 10.10 32bit, and being used to run Wine under Mac Os for some legacy work-related application, I thought It would have been pretty straightforward to run such games under Snow Leopard.
