How to use Speex Cross-Browser, Cross-Platform on Web Pages
My apologies if this request is a little outside the scope of the normal track of this discussion group. My question is more about the use of speex as a web developer than about the internals of the codec. I searched all over the web for this information, though, and am trying here as a last resort. I am trying to develop a way to offer slide shows with a voice-over. I would like to offer speex

Ok, its time. AJAX Games via Rails....
A couple of years ago I was building an online multiplayer game doing the frontend in Flash MX 2004 and using Colin Moock''s Unity server (http://moock.org/unity/) for the backend. This was to be along the lines of JungleWar and the Hidden and Dangerous mini games for those whom remember these: http://moock.org/unity/showcase/screenshots/hiddenanddangerous.gif

Unity 3d / Nova fps / Facebook games
Hello, I noticed that in the last period, many gaming companies started to build free games for the online platforms. I think that in the next period of time, they will appear allot of 3d games on social sites. My example is N.O.V.A. from facebook (developed by Gameloft). From my pov it's a very good start for online 3d games. So, what's my problem: I want to play nova on linux, using

Adding browsers
Recently, I put CentOS 6.4 on one of the four PCs I keep behind a KVM switch. I like it a whole lot in most ways, but Fedora has spoiled me : I install almost every browser I can, and generally keep half a dozen or more open, mostly with several tens of tabs open. Iow, I use browsers as I used to use books, back in the Carboniferous when I had a desk in the stacks. Are there ways a

why do text_fields appear smaller in IE than other browsers?
In testing my application on different browsers, I''ve noticed a few differences:- a password_field :size=>20 is smaller than a text_field :size=>20 on Internet Explorer. They are the same on Firefox and Safari. makes my login box look silly. the same can be seen on the login screen for this forum. the password box is a little shorter on IE6. more annoying however is I have

[OT] Playing mp4's on centos httpd
Sorry for the off topic, but hoping someone here can point me in a direction and end my endless googling... I have some mp4 training videos that our users need to be able to download or stream directly to their browser. I have the h.264 module loaded on httpd on centos (using http://swimminginthought.com/streaming-mp4-video-webserver-solved/#). So I think I have most of the infrastructure in

dispatch.cgi error affecting specific browsers
I have a rails app that is accessed through Apache 2 (just using cgi now; will add fastcgi later when everything is working). The app works fine with some os/browser combos at my work site: windows/IE Mac/safari Mac/firefox Linux/firefox But it fails on windows/firefox and my colleague''s (at a different site) mac/safari (we are running the same os version and version of safari) The

How to use Speex Cross-Browser, Cross-Platform on Web Pages
Thanks for the two suggestions. I tried VLC, and that did help with Firefox support. Unfortunately, VLC registers itself as a player only for the "application/ogg" type, not for "audio/x-speex". If I change my object code to request an application/ogg MIME type, it plays. I wish that it also showed player controls like QuickTime and other players do, but I am not complaining!

How to use Speex Cross-Browser, Cross-Platform on Web Pages
I spent some more time with the Ogg and Speex format specs, and I realized that using the "application/ogg" MIME type is technically sound, since Speex is contained in an Ogg wrapper. To get full browser support, though, it is best to rename it so its file extension is "ogg". Some browsers do not support files where the MIME type and file extension are different, based on

Have you thought of using jspeex (http://jspeex.sourceforge.net/)? The other way I can think of is to do the same as the Annodex Firefox plugin (http://www.annodex.net) and use VLC. Problems connecting to httpd help server with some browsers
Hello, sorry to provide only very little testing, but with the release date nearing, I thought it better to report this quickly than to wait for an uncertain period until I find more time. I'm observing strange problems connecting to the httpd help server with konqueror (KDE 4.3.1): options (help_type="html") options (browser="konqueror") help ("print")

Playback of URL Authenticated Stream in Browser
Hello! I'm having trouble embedding my url-authenticated stream on my website on certain browsers. I'm hoping someone can offer some advice. My site offers a subscription to the stream where the username and password are system-generated and unique to the subscriber. The system-generated password is stored in the database and passed to the page based on which subscriber is logged in.

[NU-BQ+CentOS] Special Chars not showing up in browsers
Greetings, I am in the process of moving several large sites to a Tyan+BQ+CentOS box (built from the Nuonce ISO) and I see that special characters are not showing up in the browser properly but do show up in the source "view source" properly. -- very strange. Example: on the web page --> Heizungsbau M?ller in the source --> Heizungsbau M?ller When I view this on the existing

When I tried to view Basil's video streams yesterday, it worked with Firefox 3.5.x on both Linux and Windows, but failed with Chrome 3.0 on Windows XP.? I get opposite results with http://www.citizenofplanetearth.org/citizen.ogg The only browser I've tried that plays that video is Chrome 3.0 on Windows XP. The <video> tag I'm using is about as simple as can be. <video
