dvd decrypter 'No Devices Detected!' error
I found this wiki page (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2587) as well as few posts in these forums about this very issue that I am experiencing with DVD Decrypter on Wine 1.0.1 under Ubuntu/Intrepid.
The wiki recommends adding the following to ~/.wine/config (which doesn't exist for me). I make a file called ~/,wine/config and inserted the below text but it

DVD decrypter: No Devices Detected
Dear wine community
I am trying to run DVD decrypter on wine.
I followed instructions as given here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=27369
where they advise to add hdd=ide-scsi to the end of the following line on /boot/grub/menu.lst , which looks like this:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.10-5-k7 root=/dev/hdb1 ro quiet splash
my DVD is on /dev/scd0 so my kernel line looks like this now:

DVD Shrink - no DVD devices found
I am new to Wine and really struggling. I'm trying to get DVD Shrink and DVD
Decrypter running on my Kubuntu 5.04. My system is current. I have a 2.8Mhz
machine with 1Gb memory and lots of space on my 160Gb hard drive. I have a
Plextor DVD+-RW and an HP CD-RW. They are /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd respectively.
Here is my /fstab file:

DVD Fab HD Decrypter, surpisingly better than windows
Hello,
DVD Fab HD Decrypter is a DVD copy program. The free version is
limited to decrypt and store the result onto HDD only.
Better than all other tools (that I tried), this program does not
have problems with some tricky copy protection methods. While the
best other program fails on about 50% of current DVD movies, DVD Fab
HD Decrypter took them all fine.
I tried to run DVD Fab HD Decrypter

How to access optical drive (cd, dvd)?
Hello everyone. I'm having a problem accessing my optical (CD/DVD) drive under WINE. What I would like to do is access it "directly" through WINE, i.e. whenever I insert a CD or DVD, I'd like WINE to detect it under it's E:\ (or D: or whatever) drive.
However, I don't know how to set this up (and even whether it's possible, but I suppose it is). My CD/DVD drive is

Trying to Run a Program, I get these errors
Hi,
I am new to wine. I am running Mac OSX 10.5 and the latest wine as installed by MacPorts. I am basically trying to run WINE in order to use one program I used on Windows - Extreme Sample Converter: I have read some posts on the net that say this is compatible with WINE.
However, when I run it (I have already installed it successfully) I get the following error message almost immediately:

DVDFab Decrypter on Ubuntu 10.4 + wine
I'm a linux and wine newbie. I need help fixing missing dll references.
Using Ubuntu 10.4 Desktop (as VMware virtual client on Win7x64 host), Wine 1.2rc6, DVDFab Decrypter 7070.
DVDFab installs and runs but when running the script in a cmd.exe window I get the errors you see below. The program outputs an ISO that is playable BUT it's small (about 1/2 the size) compared to the same DVD

DVD burner in WINE
I have a program, ProShow Producer, that works flawlessly in WINE, but I need to use a DVD burner in it. The program will only export the DVD slideshows to a disc, not an image, so I need to be able to use the burner or somehow fake it and save to an image. Does anyone know how I can either get the burner working or (ideally) fake the burner and create an image instead??
Thanks so much for the

WIne won't open any more.
I recently installed Avery's design program on wine, afterwards I opened one of my files (with Avery), which caused Wine to crash. Now, wine won't open any programs even winecfg will not open. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling wine, but it didn't work. below is the response from running the command "winecfg" in the terminal.

Cannot find DVD/CD drive...
The transition from Windows to Linux has been more or less painless for me, except for one thing; a game called Space Colony.
The WineDB lists it as Platiunum, Cedega lists it as something that can work, I had high hopes to get it working on at least one of these systems.
After I installed the program through WINE, it popped up the autorun menu and I clicked 'play' where I then got the

Mac Wine.app Launcher
Hey,
I'm running Wine 1.1 on OS-X Leopard, and am trying to figure out how to tell Finder to open all files with a .exe extension to open with Wine. The only way I can think of is to create a new .app folder with just enough information to link to the actual Wine executable.
I took apart the .app package of jEdit and replaced all references to jEdit with ones for Wine, then symlinked the

CD/DVD not found
Hello everybody,
I'm new to wine and tried to run the adventure "So Blonde". The installation ends successfully and the game should run under wine (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14264&iTestingId=33866).
But when I try to start the game, it says that there is no DVD in the drive and I have to put the original DVD in it (I have the original

Wine can't see DVD drives, and wont open some apps
I've installed Wine 1.3.28 on Ubuntu 11.04. I've been having some odd problems that I can't seem to get around. My optical disk drives aren't visible when I try to use applications like DVD Shrink, I can't seem to detect them. When I try to install some apps like Amazon Kindle and WoW, they will install, but just not open. When I run Startcraft II, it'll play, but it

Problem finding DVD drive and burning with ConvertXtoDVD
I'm still very new to Linux and Wine. Please help.
I have installed Wine 1.1.1 and have ConvertXtoDVD installed and working for the most part. The only part that I can't seem to be working is that it won't see my HP dvd1040 burner. When I go to the settings for the burner it gives me the option of choosing a drive but no drive is listed. Everywhere else within Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy I am

After uninstalling and reinstalling, no Wine folders
Originally installed Wine [9.33] from the Ubuntu repository. After
adding the WineHQ repository, I was upgraded to 9.49. Since it was an
upgrade, the folders installed by 9.33 were retained in place of those
9.49 would have installed if it were the first installation.
I decided to make my installation more "up-to-date" by uninstalling and
reinstalling. I've uninstalled and

Adding a DVD Writer device
After my laptop corrupting dvd after dvd, I decided to plug in the dvd drive from my other PC, which broke down 2 months ago. I connected it through a USB SATA interface and since it?s the second drive, it?s under "/media/cdrom1/" now.
However, Wine doesn?t detect the drive when I choose "Auto Detect", nor does it allow me to add an actual drive name when adding a new drive.

cdrom dvd access
To run programs which are needing access to cdrom or dvd, I have to create a
link between .wine/dosdevices/ and the directory where the cdrom or/and the
dvd actually are.
Can someone describe how I could create this link?

Wine doesn't work on FC9
I recently upgraded from Fedora 8 to Fedora 9. Wine-0.9.58 was included. When I tried to run an already installed app, nothing happened. Wine configuration didn't run either. I examined the shell scripts in /usr/bin and found that winecfg, wineconsole, winedbg, winefile, and winemine all contained the same scripts, starting with "Wrapper script to start a Winelib application once it

Wine doesn't detect my mounted iso
Trying to install Madden 08 from an dvd iso when I run the .exe installer wine says "Please insert CD/DVD 1 in drive K:". I tried to add the path on drive K: where the mounted iso is with winecfg but the message is still there. Can't make game/wine to find the mounted iso.
As I have read that this game can be installed and played on linux I know that this should be a wine
