Sequence for repeated numbers
Hello fellows, I would like to create a sequence for repeated numbers in a dataset. For example: ID <- c(1:20) grade <- c(4,4,4,5,5,7,7,7,7,8,8,8,9,9,9,9,9,10,10,10) Data: ID Grade 1 4 2 4 3 4 4 5 5 5 6 7 7 7 8 7 9 7 (...) I would like to create a variable "sequence": Data: ID Grade Sequence: 1 4 1 2 4 2 3 4 3 4 5

Specify a minimum number of valid arguments for the mean function
Hello all, I want to specify a minimum number of valid arguments for the mean function--I have 5 variables but I want the mean only of cases that have at least 3 valid answers. What is the best way to do that? Thank you very much! Luana [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

how to estimate parameters of multimodal distribution
Dear all Please, is there any function or package for dealing with multimodal distributions? I try to fit multimodal distribution or more precisely to find out mixture of normal distributions which can lead to my actual data. I use optim to find (in that case) two parameters but what I want is to let the function find out arbitrary number of normal distributions underlaying my actual data

Lmer binomial distribution x HLM Bernoulli distribution
Dear R-users, I'm running a lmer model using the lme4 package. My dependent variable is dichotomous and I'm using the "binomial" family. The results are slightly different from the HLM results based on a Bernoulli distribution. I read that a Bernoulli distribution is an extension of a binomial distribution. Is that right? If so, how can I adapt my R model to a Bernoulli

16-Bit/DOS Suppor Missing?
Currently attempting to run an old PC game on my Mac (Leopard). I've installed Wine using MacPorts, which worked flawlessly. Now when I attempt to install my PC Game the terminal responds with "16-Bit/DOS Support missing." Is there a way to fix this?

Trouble with idmap_ldap in 3.3.6
Hello everyone, We've been running Samba for years, and with the exception of IDMAP, we've been very happy. Well, now we have a real need to keep this information in a shared DB, so I'm trying to set up the idmap_ldap plugin. I *think* I have lookups working correctly-- at least, I can see that Samba is contacting the LDAP directory. But since there's nothing actually

[LLVMdev] Clang's approach to anonymous struct pointer parameters
For the following code: struct XBeePacket; typedef void (*CompletionProc)(XBeePacket* inPacket, void* inParam2); struct XBeePacket { bool mField1; CompletionProc mCompletionProc; }; Why does clang emit this IR? %struct.XBeePacket = type { i8, {}* } define void @MyCompletionProc(%struct.XBeePacket* %inPacket, i8*

Samba 2.0.7 on BSD/OS 4.2
Alright, I give up. I'm going to go out in the parking lot and scream. Over the years I have built many, many versions of Samba on many versions of BSD[386,OS] and other unixen. I have never, ever had trouble like this (except, of course, with Irix). Never with a BSD. 4.2 ships with Samba 2.0.6 (why? -- 2.0.7 was released last April). I've been running 2.0.7 on a DEC Alpha running OSF

rsync: network "bind interfaces only" command for rsync?
Hi, Is there a network interface listen command for rsync so that for a system with multiple network cards and multiple IP addresses - rsync will only be visible on a defined interface and defined IPs? Like in samba?: e.g., bind interfaces only = True interfaces = eth0 193.xy.zz.aa 193.xy.zz.ab Can't seem to find such a thing in the documentation. Cheers, Lachlan.

glm() for log link and Weibull family
I need to be able to run a generalized linear model with a log() link and a Weibull family, or something similar to deal with an extreme value distribution. I actually have a large dataset where this is apparently necessary. It has to do with recovery of forensic samples from surfaces, where as much powder as possible is collected. This apparently causes the results to conform to some type

Rsync and trying to mirror Linux user areas
As root, I am trying to mirror a Redhat 7.3 Linux user area onto another Redhat 7.3 Linux box using rsync. This is using the following type of command: rsync -a -v --stats --safe-links However, rsync cannot mirror most of the user area because of the default permissions for the user areas. e.g., opendir(user1): Permission denied opendir(user2): Permission denied drwx------ 3 user1

Rsync and "ignore nonreadable" and timeout
Hi, Can anyone send me an example config file that makes use of ignore nonreadable timeout 600 When I try to put this in a module - rsync seems happy but it gets nasty logfile messages when a client connects to the server. RFC: Inlining report
RFC: Inlining Report Motivation Making good inlining choices while optimizing an application is often key to achieving optimal performance. While the compiler's default inlining heuristics sometimes provide great out-of-box results, optimal performance is sometimes achieved only after varying the settings of certain compiler options related to inlining or adding "always_inline" or
