Hi, I'm new to Wine (and linux/ubuntu). I've installed Rome Total War with Wine 1.1.19. It went just fine. But when I'm trying to start the game, it's tells me: > .. failed to find directx 9, which is required for the game to run. Please reinstall Directx. I have tried installing directx 9, but it doesn't help. What do I do now?

Hello, I was asked to provide info about my attempt to run Rome TW on my Linux system. Not sure what info exactly is sought, so please ask for additional information. RHEL said that RHEL 7.6.6 began to support these cpus(detials: https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/amd) , but we found that CentOS7.6 with kernel 3.10.0-957.21.3.el7.x86_64 also works fine. I have a couple of questions about Wine, just in an attempt to enhance my understanding of it: Is Wine writing its own implementation of DirectX, which sort of 'forwards' instructions to an equivilant in OpenGL? I'm having problems compiling and linking a simple DirectX program with Wine. The problem is: a global variable c_dfDIMouse should be declared in dinput.h and defined in library dinput. c_dfDIMouse really is declared in dinput.h, but it seems that c_dfDIMouse is not declared in library dinput. During linking I get the error: undefined reference to `c_dfDIMouse'. Anyone got a clue? Thanks
