Purpose of DIB Engine?
Hello again.
Today I got following question:
What is the purpose of DIB Engine? Is it to speed up DirectDraw apps, or is
it to add missing functionality for DirectDraw ?emulation?? I'm asking this
because I recently tested few DDraw apps (Fallout2 and Happyland Adventures)
with DIB enabled and... well for HA there was now significant speed
difference, and Fallout2 slowed down even more :( .

Blip&Blop - old issue gone, new issue up
Trying to run THIS (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=5130) game using a current wine build (latest dev) results in the game STARTING, changing the resolution, showing the intro... But as soon as you press ESC it freezes (music keeps playing).
If you don't press ESC, intro runs, high scores are displayed on title screen, and then nada...
Any ideas on getting

Gumboy Crazy Adventures DEMO v.1.22, no 3D acceleration
Hello, I cannot get a 3D acceleration to work in Gumboy Crazy Adventures DEMO v.1.22. 3D acceleration works fine in other games under wine.
There is an entry (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=13410) in appdb about Gumboy Crazy Adventures v.1.15 that works great. I didn't test it, cannot find that demo version on the net.

WINE 1.3.14 and mouse
I was wondering about those mouse issues...
> Having other weird mouse issues? Try downgrading to wine 1.3.14. 1.3.15 and up introduced a complete overhaul of certain mouse handling code and screwed up more than a few things.
I'm using a touchpad on a laptop with WINE 1.3.31
Some but not all games have an "escaping mouse" phenomenon.
What happens is that the cursor has

Skyrim ThuuMic on 1.4rc6
I was hoping to get tips before I ruin my current WINE prefix...
Here's the situation:
Linux Mint 11, 32bit
WINE version is 1.4rc6 (compiled from source, not from repository)
I installed Skyrim. Current installed Skyrim executable version is 1.4.21
I have downloaded, but not installed, ThuuMic (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5626), which is a mod that lets you talk into

Yesterday''s adventures (calendar sample; swig)
At each step, I think I am past most of the big hurdles. At each step, I
find another one. I''m sharing these development stories on the list for
a few reasons:
1. Perhaps some of you will find the stories interesting
2. To preserve my lessons in the list archives so I, or someone else,
can (re)learn from them later
3. As a record of tangible progress
4. To vent some frustration

I *really* don't know about this stuff.
I don't have a libshout.a. I have libshout.la which it didn't
recognise, and shout.lo which resulted in a host of undefined references.
So I guess I don't

Webrtc and adventures with Asterisk 11
Hi,
I spent the past week experimenting with webrtc + asterisk 11.9.0-rc1 +
opus/vb8 codec patch. This is interesting technology and I try to find
out how to connect all the moving parts.
Firefox:
Neither sipml5 or jssip works with calls to asterisk, audio/video
doesn't matter.

My adventures with Wine and Netscape
I recently installed wine-20010731, and for the past week or so
I was trying unsuccessfully to get a version of Netscape (various
4.0+'s, for various win versions) to install; I needed a particular
3rd party plugin only available in .exe format. I found on google
a reference from about a year ago of someone getting this to work,
so I was going to post today with questions; lo and behold, last

Adventures in building libguestfs on non-x86 architectures for Debian
Hi,
things are progressing slowly, but I feel that eventually I'll be
getting there: supermin can be built on all Linux-based architectures
that are part of Debian/unstable[1] -- (except for sparc, but I'll
ignore that for now.) libguestfs on the other hand currently fails
launching the appliance (necessary for running tests) on everything but
x86 and mips.
Apparently, qemu-system-arm

Spore Galactic Adventures
I am trying to get Spore to work under WINE. I have installed the game plus the Galactic Adventures expansion without any problems, but when I try to run it I get a black screen and an error box stating
"The program SporeApp.exe has encountered a serious problem and need to exit"
Below is the output from the terminal. Any ideas on what might be causing this. I have update the graphics

Adventures with icecast2
Hi all:
OK, this is one of those "why doesn't it work" type questions. I'm
basically stumped. All the server info in the xml file and example.c seem
to match, but it's coming back with an error 3 which is no login (as far
as I can understand). There's nothing in the icecast2 logs to show that
an attempt has been made.
hmmm. It just occured to me that perhaps it's

Non-Parametric Adventures in R
I just started using R and I'm having all sorts of "fun" trying different
things.
I'm going to document the different things I'm doing here as a kind of case
study. I'm hoping that I'll get help from the community so that I can use R
properly.
Anyways, in this study, I have demographic data, drug usage data, and side
effect data. All of this is loaded into a csv
