I had a 2-day lapse in brain function apparently. Discovered that even though UltraEdit-32 says its editing/saving in UNIX mode, it is not 100% true. Then you could use Samba as though you were locally connected to the network the Samba server is living on. Other then that, I wouldn't recommend using Samba connected directly to the internet.
