What might affect keyboard input in a game under Wine?
Hi everyone - and I apologize in advance for the vagueness on this one.
I recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit (fresh install).
One game that I normally submit test data for has suddenly lost the ability to type. I can no longer enter a userid or password on it's login screen. (I was able to do this in 11.04 64-bit with Wine 1.3.29.) The only keys that are responsive now are the return and

Thai keyboard input does not work
Hello *,
I'm currently migrating a friend to Kubuntu 7.10. He's forced to use a service which works with IE only (no other browser can display their website). Fortunately, IE6 works with Wine (I used ies4linux 2.99.0 (http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux) to set it up), but unfortunately only with the English keyboard layout: When we switch to Thai (KDE shortcut Ctrl-Alt-K), the focused

keyboard input messed up in Wine 1.1.15?
I'm in Fedora 10 x86_64 and did a system update last night that included
updating Wine from 1.1.14 to 1.1.15. Now when I play WoW my keyboard
input is all messed up, I hit one key and get the result of another -
example W,S,A,D keys used for movement will instead act like the space
bar or esc keys, or the other way around. I try to type in chat and
whatever key I hit acts like some other key,

fcitx and switching between keyboards
This is an old issue for me running CentOS 7, latest update. I am using fcitx to switch between keyboards, two western ones and Chinese pinyin keyboard. Ever since I installed CentOS 7 over two years ago, I have been unable to resolve issues where I can maintain keyboard setting within one application, notably chromium, and/or between applications. fcitx has a setting for allowing the keyboard

Thai vignette, cross-compile for Mac OS X, universal/multiarch (Fwd: Mac OS X builds of CelQuantileNorm, vcftools/samtools/tabix, and snpStats)
FYI.
There is a Thai vignette - and it went a lot further doing some Thai text
processing in R, than the earlier Chinese/Tibetan/LiangshanYi/Arabic vignette,
which was in reality just Chinese + Cairo graphics.
Managed to cross-compile an R package for Mac OS X from Linux; and it seems to
be working. See screenshots below. I'd be interested to know if there are less
obvious bugs; however

Keyboard layout switching bug: workaround?
Hi,
I'm an Austrian writer living in Montpezat (South France). I've been 100%
GNU/Linux for the past five years, and I recently switched from Slackware to
CentOS, for the sake of comfort. Overall impression: I like it!
I have a few problems to solve yet in my migration effort, mostly minor
annoyances. First things first.
I need three different keyboard layouts: de, fr_CH and fr. I'm

wine rejecting keyboard input when window not focused
I'm wondering if theres a way to disable it, I made a program which broadcasts keystrokes between multiple windows (see the source here, http://www.nomorepasting.com/getpaste.php?pasteid=19683 ) This program works fine in everything, except wine. It works fine in wine too, but only when the window is focused.
This makes me think that wine is rejecting the keyboard input, purely because the

Timer problem, Wenlin2 and Wine (was Re: mouse problem with 'standard' Windows program)
Dear all,
I have informed WenLin2's (a Chinese language training and character
recognition program) author of the mouse button detection problem and
he will endeavour to try to change WenLin2 to be more compatible with
WINE.
I am afraid I have found another problem running WenLin2 with WINE.
The cursor ('insertion point' or 'i.p.') disappears pressing the left
arrow key, the

How do I switch the keyboard layout?
Hello there. I'm trying to switch the keyboard layout for a wine application to a nonsystem standard.
Background: system standard is dvorak, but that horribly conflicts with the AWSD movement control of games.
Stuff I tried and failed:
* switching the layout in the GNOME panel keyboard layout switcher
* rewriting the xorg.conf for english as standard language
* loading us layout with loadkey

[ANNOUNCE] xf86-input-keyboard 1.8.1
Two bugfixes, two cleanups. The fix for 89653 fixes a dead keyboard on Linux
machines, though note that use of this driver under Linux is considered very
much a legacy use case. Use evdev or the new libinput driver instead.
Egbert's fix untangles overlaps between multimedia keys and the jp
Henkan/Muhenkan keys.
