usb error when using Belkin 2-port KVM switch F1DL102U
I've chased all over google and haven't come to any satisfactory resolution on this... today, I installed a Belkin 2-port KVM switch (with audio support & built in cabling) for my CentOS 4.2 server AND my Windows XP desktop. Now, the mouse (a USB mouse) does not work on the Linux box. However, it WILL work if I plug it directly into the CentOS box. if I switch over to the

Slideshow/presentation software for CentOS
I am looking for software to make slideshows/presentations on CentOS, incorporating photos, videos and text (possibly also music) allowing for transition effects etc. I'd like to be able to drag and drop/rearrange photos etc. from different folders into a timeline and eventually end up with something I can show. Ideally without having to make copies of photos and store them in a folder

3.7.1p1 PAM Problems in RedHat 6.2
I've corresponded with several different techs at a major dedicated webhosting provider and they too so far have not been able to determine why the newest version of OpenSSH 3.7.1p1 is conflicting with PAM on our server running RedHat linux 6.2. I've also tried installing 3.7.1p1 on other RedHat 6.2 servers and the exact same PAM problems. But on 7.1 RedHat servers I've had absolutely

Is it possible to control an APC masterswitch VM (ap9221) over the network (snmp)?
I have been trying to figure out how to do this, anyone know if it's possible? I've tried using the snmp-ups driver and the apcc mibs but I get this error in the logs: Can't connect to UPS [MYUPS] (snmp-ups-MYUPS): No such file or directory I have been able to connect to my ups using the snmp driver successfully. Both use the same AP9606 network card, but have different APP and AOS

How do folk . . . Aggregate system mail from LAN machines?
List, good evening, Running Dovecot for external email, but not yet worked out how (best) to aggregate 'system' mail from other machines on the LAN. By system mail, I mean mails generated by the OS or by applications, and addressed to root, or 'some admin user', etc. Ideally, these would be seen by 'root' or 'some admin user' or whoever on our existing

Keyboard Interactive Attack?
You need to disable ?ChallengeResponse? (aka keyboard-interactive) authentication, not password authentication, to protect against this attack. Ordering scales in xYplot.Hmisc
Dear R community, I am using xYplot() from the Hmisc package. The package works great to plot means + CI. But I am having issues handling the scales. I am plotting "Soil Clay content" vs "Soil depth" by "land use". Usually in this type of graphs it is better to place the variable "soil depth" in the y-axis and it should be ordered downward by depth (0-5

Sharing RJS Templates
Hello All, I''m enjoying the simplicity and power of RJS templates in Rails 1.1, but am perplexed about sharing them. I have several templates that I would like to access in various controllers, but if I moved them to views/shared/whatever.rjs, my app can''t seem to find them. I changed the name to _whatever.rjs and referenced them as "shared/whatever", but no luck.

2.2.x autobuilds: Debian Stable now Wheezy, which pool for 2.2.x?
List, good evening, just installed a new Debian Stable (Wheezy). The Debian Stable repositories now include Dovecot 2.1.7 as standard. I haven't installed that because I wanted to try 2.2.x on this new clean install but unsure which 'pool' to use in the xi.rename-it.nl repository of autobuilds. http://xi.rename-it.nl/debian/pool/ Wheezy became Stable on May 5, just a few days

Multi-language input
Hi. I'm using Fedora 7 and Gnome. I need sometimes to be able to write Russian and Hebrew. This works fine with native linux applications, but not in Wine applications. If I launch Wine application, I can write only in English, if I try to type in other language, my input is either ignored or displayed as blocks. If I set LANG to ru_RU.UTF-8 or to he_IL.UTF-8 before starting Wine application,

Printer recommendations
Since my old Epson C86 has finally managed to clog up the print heads, I'm in the market for a replacement. I'd like to know what the people on this list are using for printers that are currently available, since we are using versions of CUPS and foomatic that are frozen, and any other issues or "gotchas" that you are aware of. For the replacement printer, I'm considering a

LAPACK libraries improperly linked
Dear All, As suggested in the reply from Dirk Eddelbuettel to my post to R-dev I am reposting here as the problem still persists. Please see my post to R-dev under same heading for additional description if needed. In summary I am starting from a new installation of Ubuntu 10.10 as the single operating system on a reformatted disk with just the OS, ESS and emacs installed before installing R

passing dataframe col name through cbind()
Hi all --- I note that the column name of the first column in a dataframe does not necessarily get passed on when using cbind (example below)? I'm looking for help in clarifying why this behavior occurs, and how I can get all col names, including the first, passed on to the result?while I suspect it's obvious and documented to the cognoscenti, it's puzzling me? Many thanks for any
