Setting Resolution Modes in xorg.conf
I asked on the Gentoo forums, and surprisingly haven't gotten an answer. When I run xrandr, I get this output: Code: Screen 0: minimum 2960 x 1050, current 2960 x 1050, maximum 2960 x 1050 default connected 2960x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm 2960x1050 50.0* I'm using TwinView with a 1680x1050 monitor and a 1280x1024 monitor. And I want to set up some different modes in xrandr. When

Wine/WoW not detecting monitor hz
WoW detects my monitor hz as 77, 78, 79. 80, 81, 82 but not 60hz which it should be! This causes a lot of tearing which can be annoying. Is there any way of fixing this?

Does CentOS support dual graphics cards with 2 monitors each?
I have a user who wants to have 4 monitors attached to his CentOS 6.4 system. I know that you can't use both on-board video and a PCI video card at the same time, but what about two PCI video cards? The system seems to recognize them as shown by the lspci -v output below, but I can't get Xorg to use the second card. Has anyone done this? If so, what is the trick to get it to work?

Super Pro 9.4 / USAF question
Hi all! I tried to install and run Jane's USAF and Super Pro 9.4 with no luck. The game installs fine, but I cannot make it work under Linux (P-IV 2.5 + 1Gb RAM + NVidia 440Go (64Mb) with Ubuntu 9.10 + Wine 1.1.35 + NVidia 96.43.13). The game runs fine in this very same computer under Windows XP, and my computer exceeds by far the game's requirements. The original program (Jane's USAF)

1680x1050 Monitor
Hi, I just got a new Samsung 226bw 22" wide monitor to replace my previous one. I also have a nvidia 8600gts video card. I can set interactively [through the nvidia-settings utility] the 1680 by 1050 resolution. I have saved the settings in the xorg.conf, but I can't keep it after a restart of X or a reboot. When I restart X, the login is at: 1680 by 1050, then it switches to 1280 by

Nvidia maximum pixel clock issue in kmod-nvidia-384.98
Hi everyone, On CentOS 7 I'm running into an issue with the latest nvidia driver from elrepo: kmod-nvidia-384.98-1.el7_4.elrepo.x86_64 This driver version seem to introduce issue in detecting video modes when a monitor is connected using DVI. As soon as the machine attempts to start X, nothing happens and the monitor goes into sleep mode reporting that it has 'no signal'. It is

Minimizing WoW - Painfully low FPS
I can play WoW perfectly, it is 100% stable and I can get great fps. One problem though, when I minimize the game and I maximize it, sometimes I can just keep playing happily but sometimes thats not the case. I minimize it, maximize it again and the FPS drops to about 10-20fps (anywhere). As you might know, this is VERY annoying, I've tried changing loads of settings in-game with no help.

Problems with Wine and twin view
Hello all, I'm using wine 1.3.11 on gentoo and i'm having some problems As far as i understand, in order to stop games spanning on both of my monitors i have to add a metamode in xorg.conf. So i've edited my xorf.conf to: Code: Option "metamodes" "CRT: 1280x1024_75 +1920+0, DFP: 1920x1080_60 +0+0; DFP: 1920x1080_60 +0+0, CRT: NULL" This is fine for

Error msg on shell trying to open WoW (Newb)
Hey everyone, I'll start off by saying I've never successfully made the transition to linux after trying 6 times. Something like this always happens, and I end up giving up and going back to windows; this time, however, I'm determined to win . [Laughing] I've already posted on the ubuntu forums about this issue, and they referred me here. I'll quote the issue so far. >

"nv" driver lock up where new version
I have had my "nv" driver lock up a number of times. I downloaded the "nvidia" drivers and they did not work at 1920x1080 resolution. I am looking for an updated driver for just "nv". I found some once for a different driver that you just update commonXXX and yourdriverXXX not the whole X recompile. Where can I find those drivers? THanks, Jerry --------------

using reshape to do ANOVA mixed models
Hi, I just started with R and I found that there are many options to rearrange the data to do mixed models. I want to use the reshape function. I have 2 between subject variables and one within. I was able to change the data structure but still - the result of the aov functions are calculating everything as a within subject. the table looks like this: SerialNo breed treatment distance_1

[PATCH 1/2] lib: Add CLEANUP_FREE macro which automatically calls 'free' when leaving scope.
From: "Richard W.M. Jones" <rjones@redhat.com> Use the macro like this to create temporary variables which are automatically cleaned up when the scope is exited: { CLEANUP_FREE (char *, foo, strdup (bar)); /* char *foo = strdup (bar) */ ... // no need to call free (foo)! } On GCC and LLVM, this is implemented using __attribute__((cleanup(...))). Average of a variable against another.
Dear helpers, FYI, I am a beginner of R, just have dealt with MATLAB or JAVA. I want to know how to solve one problem given 4 variables: year_1, year_2, tall_1, tall_2. The tall_1 is measured at year_1 and tall_2 at year_2. The tall has grown up such as uniformly 1 cm/yr. The data is like year_1 year_2 tall_1 tall_2 2007 2010 12 15 1999 2009 6 16 2003 2005 11 13
