I have a program that needs .net 1.1, so I tried to install it. It aborted, so then I tried .net 2.0. Now it wants msi3.0 and it is not in winetricks, so I downloaded the distributable from Microsoft, and tried to install it. The install went OK, but it wanted to restart windows, so I said OK, and nothing seemed to have happened, but I still could not install .net 2.0. So I booted my system,

gmax won't start up after the initial time. The messages I am getting indicate that it has become case sensitive with respect to names. The installer put in a directory named 'stdplugs' but the program wanted it to be 'StdPlugs'. So I renamed it. It still says these libraries fail to initialize. I must be missing a windows module but I did put in the recommended winetricks

I have a couple of programs, one a windows .exe, the other a .java program that re user created programs that support SimCity 4. I've tried adding them to various places around wine's file system, but no soap. How does one do this? Does wine include the JRE to run java stuff? I can edit the registry if only I knew what to put in there and where.

Running on UBUNTU 10.04 current to recent hours. When running Simcity 4 Rush Hour with a very small suite of plugins, sometimes the graphics goes haywire. The early symptoms are RGB + black squares appearing here and there. As this develops, graphic objects start to take on primary colours. I've never let it go to a crash.
