Backporting R 3.0.0 to Quantal, Precise, and Lucid
Today (May 4, 2013) I will begin the process of backporting R 3.0.0 to Quantal, Precise, and Lucid. This will include all the recommended packages and the packages for R found in the universe repository for Ubuntu. Things to keep in mind: - If you do not want to receive these upgrades and you use the CRAN repositories or my Launchpad PPA, please remove them from your apt/synaptic sources lists.

Problem installing gWidgetsRGtk2 on Ubuntu 10.04
dear all, I'm totally new to R and want to install the RQDA package. It fails because of a dependency with gWidgetsRGtk2, which doesn't install because of the following: > * installing *source* package ?gWidgetsRGtk2? ... ** R ** inst ** preparing package for lazy loading Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : konnte Funktion "setRefClass" nicht finden (=could not find

2 versions of wine in the same PC ?
hello, I found a bug in Wine 1.2 and reported it on bugzilla. This bug has a very simple workaround, but I would like to see if it is still present in Wine 1.3 beta. Is it possible to have 2 versions of Wine simultaneously installed on the same system, or will they disturb each other ? Of course wine uses a .wine directory, but is there a trick, such as using .wine1 and .wine2 ??

OT - Software deployment
Hi all, I have been fishing through the archives and have not found a lot of posts about this that were not 'golden oldies.' Do you guys use anything other than brute force to deploy software and updates to your client PCs? I would be interested to know what you are using, whether you use it for initial OS install, software deployment/upgrades, or other things, and roughly how much

Wine can't initialize OpenGL
My wine used to work fine - I'm using Lucid and wanted wine 3.16 because of a bug fix, and I figured the maverick debian would probably be fine, and I installed it, and OpenGL suddenly didn't work. So I used "completely remove" in Synaptic to uninstall the maverick version of wine and went back to the lucid 3.15 version, and it still didn't work. I replaced everything in my

Installing Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid guest on Centos 5 using virt-manager
Hi, i'm trying to install an Ubuntu Lucid PV guest on a Centos host but I can't seem to find a working installation URL. I tried "http://ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/installer-amd64/" and various subdirectories but I always get the error "Could not find an installable distributio at ...". In the OS Variant box I chose Ubuntu 9.04 as that is the closest to what

Supreme Commander crashes as game starts. Ubuntu 10.04 lucid
Hi, I'm trying to run Supreme Commander Forged Alliance on my computer. The menus work fine, but when I come to start the game, it starts loading, crashes, then exits. On the game's winehq page, someone else had the same problem. The response from another poster was that setting the color depth to 24 bits fixes the issue. However, this doesn't work. I'm new to wine, so sorry if I

Re: pulseaudio under ubuntu lucid
Update on this topic. I have just bought a new computer (My previous one was 8 years old and showing its age) and I tried timidity instead of fluidsynth. Midi playback works fine on both the midi player and notation processor in Wine with Pulse Audio enabled.
