Alien versus Predator mouse move limit...
Heya, I'm sorry for spamming these forums!! :P I'm trying out games on wine. I got to install Alien Versus Predator, the old Win95/98 version. It seems to run just fine except for the mouse. I can't do 360 degree turns. The mouse is also limited in the vertical axis. It feels like there, behind my screen, is a window in which my cursor-arrow moves. A window smaller than the screen

Install Shield Error While Installing Alien vs Predator 2
Hi, I'm using Fedora Core 1. I downloaded wine 20031212 (rpm format) and installed it successfully. The Alien vs. Predator 2 (AVP2) uses Install Shield, so I downloaded DCOM98. When I install DCOM98, I recieved the error message about "an older version", but I solved it with copying some windows DLL files to the "c:\\windows\system" folder. Then I try to install AVP2,

mouse axes in AvP Classic 2000
Hi mates, times ago I've taken the whim to buy aliens versus predator classic 2000 from Steam. It's quite fine, the game works good except the mouse. mouse axes don't work, mouse don't moves. I don't know what to do to fix it, I've tried to set up MouseWarpOverride to force/disable/enable but nothing happens. I've opened a report on bugzilla too, but I'm not having

Counter Strike Source Won't load.
Okay so I have just installed Fedora 16 64-bit. Coming from a Ubuntu user I'm well aware that counter strike source works great under linux. I've been trying to get it to work but every time I try to load it, it loads for a moment and then crashes. I have the proprietary AMD ATI drivers for my ATI Radeon HD 5750. They seem to be rendering fine according to the debugger. I'm currently

Aliens versus Predator
Hello all. For those interested: Aliens versus Predator now works nearly perfectly with Wine (I tested it with the CVS version, dated 30th May 3004). Small glitches: the X cursor stays stuck in the middle of the screen (it can be used as a crosshair :^); when I fire my weapon, the sound of the burst continues after the firing has stopped (I get many sound buffer underruns - I use alsa 1.0).

Steam won't start
I just tried to install Steam through Wine and PlayOnLinux. It installed successfully, but hung on the client update. I try to start Steam.exe with the command 'wine steam.exe' as well as the PlayOnLinux launcher. The window pops up for a moment, saying 'Connecting account', which then goes away and the program pops up an error message after about the money. Any ideas? Would the

[Ubuntu 11.10] Unable to run (java?) games
Hello everyone Wine is great. I've managed to (through PlayOnLinux) get Steam installed and I'm able to play a load of my games in the comfort of Ubuntu. Currently I have all my Half Life and Half Life 2 mods working for the most part. My issue is: Some games come with a browser or launcher that checks if the game is up to date. All of these launchers tend to contain some Java, Flash

Desktop Notifications/popups = steam apps hard freeze?
I'm not sure if this is a problem resulting from my PlayOnLinux app for handling the wine based applications. However whenever I get a popup or notification from my Ubuntu desktop it causes the Steam application to hard freeze, graphically only though. Seeing as I then have to hit '`' and then quit (I have only valve based games) I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this

Team Fortress 2 Issues
Hello there, After downloading the latest version of wine, latest graphics drivers and install Steam through PlayOnLinux, I tried to launch Team Fortress 2. The initial Valve sound played and then the menu soud, but there was absolutely no video/display. Checking the processes list, hl2.exe was still running, so obviously something is going wrong here. My system should be fine, as I used to run

Connection problems with Steam games
Hello, I've been having problems trying to run Steam games. The Steam itself takes up a lot of resources even when idle, for some reason, but the games run rather smoothly - in menu that is. Most of the games I have on steam are multiplayer games, and as the topic title suggests, I can't ever get to play them due to problems on connection. When playing Men of War, the game freezes on

Can't get Wine to work passed the most basic
I have managed to get most games to load, but everyone locks up when I try to play it. It is always the same error: Missing Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls (0.0.0) Every libraries I can find connected to DirectX, Steam, .Net. All of my research indicates this is a error that is compiled into the code per Microsofts instructions. I am running an AMD Phenom 9950 Quad core, with an Nvidia

Steam installs and runs fine on POL, but not Wine ?
Hey guys, Can anyone help me close the gap between my POL and Wine setups? I currently have a laptop running PlayOnLinux 3.8.8 and a desktop running only Wine 1.3.9 (Fedora 14). As the subject read, the laptop with POL is running fine, but a generic install with the latest .msi file from the Steam website is not. Steam on Wine, was able to run it's own autoupdate, but after that refuses

Steam problems
For the last couple of days, I have been trying to get Steam working, mainly to play Counter-Strike 1.6 (and other games, with time). I first tried PlayOnLinux, and that didn't go so well, and neither did Wine-Doors. Finally, I reverted to using wine without any add-ons and that has seemed to work best. I am using wine version 1.1.18 on an acer aspire laptop running gentoo 2.6.27-r8 and ati
