Re: New Steam Client 2010 GUI
I am running wine 1.1.43 in Debian Squeeze (32 bit) and still receive this error. My console gets flooded with the message "fixme:threadpool:RtlQueueWorkItem Flags 0x4 not supported" after I login to steam and as soon as the main steam menu appears, it crashes. Has anyone else still received problems with the new steam GUI?

Question about Steam.
I am running wine1.3, installed from the winehq repo on ubuntu 10.10. I installed steam through winetricks, nothing else. After this i told steam to start installing civ V. And for some time it just downloader with 1.4mb/sec. then suddenly everything stopped... and all i could squeeze out of my connection was 150kb/sek.
Is there anything in wine1.3, or perhaps steam running under wine1.3 that

Installing Wine for Debian Squeeze
Hi,
I tried to install Wine following this instruction:
http://www.winehq.org/download/deblenny, method 1.
These instructions are in German.
This gives me access to Wine 1.1.42 in 32-bit.
According to the WineHQ homepage, 1.2 is the last stable. My system is 64-bit. I should be able to select between 1.2 and 1.3.
So my guess is that this instruction is outdated, that that repository is not

aoss no sound in steam
When I run aoss winecfg and use the test sound option, I hear sound. When I run aoss wine Steam.exe however, there is no sound at all. No sound is in any game either. I am running Wine 1.2 in Debian Squeeze (32bit). Has anyone come across this issue and resolved it?

Installing latest Wine on Debian
I installed Wine using the Lamaresh repo for Debian, but unlike openSUSE's repos, I found out that it installs and old version: 1.1.42. Is there some repo for Debian where I can install latest version from? Or should I better try building it from source?
Sorry if it's a silly question. Thanks.

Steam crashes at startup. Doesn't even reach log in screen
Hello!
I've followed the Steam install guide for Wine, but I still can't get Steam to start. It just shows up in the task bar for a couple of seconds, then it disappears and nothing happens. I get these error messages when I launch from console, but they dont't make me much smarter.
I'm running Fedora 14 x64 with the standard open source non-Nvidia Nvidia drivers.

Deus Ex: Invisible Wars on Steam - Cannot launch
Hi, as some of you may know, there were some issues reported recently about
the Steam version of this game not starting. Presumably the solution was to
compile wine 1.2+ with a recent version of GCC and binutils, so that the
copy protection software could hook certain functions. I've done this, and
I've posted some details in the bug tracker (
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23553).

Sound problems in Steam games
This topic seems to pop up every now and then, and I think I've tried all the solutions that have been given for it. I'm running Linux Mint 9 (64 bit) with Wine 1.1.42. The problem is that when I start a Steam game, I either get no sound, or I have sound for a few minutes, then it cuts out. The problem happened to me under both Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit) and Linux Mint 9 (64 bit). I have tried

Debian Upgrade to 3.5.5
After today's Squeeze upgrade from 3.4.8 to 3.5.5, domain logons were initially broken.
I was fortunate to find Thomas Burkholder's workaround from last June, i.e. turn off
server signing.
Can anyone explain why "server signing = auto" no longer works in 3.5.x?
Thanks.

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition from Steam
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on a Thinkpad T500, I believe I'm using the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics that come with it. I'm using the default WINE install, I think version 1.1.42. I'm trying to run Monkey Island 2: Special Edition downloaded from Steam.
It actually sort of works. It installed just fine. When I first ran it gave me a blank screen and that was it.

No sound in Steam with Bose USB speakers
Hi all,
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with wine 1.2.2 and have a set of Bose Companion 5 USB speakers connected to my system. The speakers work fine in Ubuntu in every way, except for wine. In WineCFG the audio is configured to use ALSA, but the "Test Sound" always fails no matter what I set it to. I've read this is a known problem, so not a big deal. However, when playing Portal or

Trying to get audio into Steam
I understand this is probably more distro related, but I would hope that perhaps people around here might have a better clue as to how to resolve my issue. I just recently got Arch Linux x84_64 on my rig about a week ago and decided to go with the 64-bit Wine.
After many works and tricks, I got a few of my games running, such as WoW and osu!. However, I have one last game that is bound to steam

Debian squeeze as Dom 0?
Hi,
I''m going through the experience of learning XEN. My intentions are to track down changes (at source code level) required to make a kernel into dom 0
kernel (if we consider that particular kernel is earlier than 2.6.18). while going through Xen wiki I have a confusion in my mind.
Debian squeeze 6.0 is said to be Dom 0 kernel. Debian squeeze is using 2.6.32 linux kernel and once we
