I just downloaded wine 1.1.15, compiled and installed it on my centos 5.2 PC. It's exciting to successfully migrate applications to linux. However, I found that SCIM sends strange codes as Chinese and Japanese characters to applications. I need both Chinese and Japanese input methods very much. Necroposting solution: It turns out that this was a known bug relating to SCIM. Disabling SCIM before starting Wine fixes the issue, and now all of my apps recognize the keyboard correctly.

Same problem here. Using Ubuntu 9.04 64bit, Brazilian portuguese. Can type deadkeys everywhere except on wine applications(notepad, office 2007). I'm using scim/scim-bridge(portuguese/japanese) too and works on native linux GTK/QT applications, but doesn't work on wine..... just an extra information. Maybe it helps to solve this issue.... or not. :-)
