Samba and ufw
Louis,
Followed your instructions so far. Take a look at the output of the
various steps. I'm down to removing items form /etc/ufw. I'm not sure
what I should delete. I know some of the files are backups generated
after some rules were deleted. Please tell me what is safe to delete
before I procede further.
martin at radio:~$ sudo apt-get remove --purge ufw gufw

Wine 1.4 removes gnome-common & mate-common (link)
Hello all.
Recently upgraded to Mint 13 MATE and have been following this forum post:http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=102684&p=585069&hilit=wine+mint+13+mate#p585069
Installing wine 1.4 appears to remove mate-common and gnome-common and a few other packages, playonlinux also removes the same. I don't know what damage this does but vincent on the Mint forums

Mint KDE 9: Wine problem with MS Office
Hi,
I have the following problems with Wine on Mint 9 KDE:
1.- When I want to install MS Office 2003 from CD, I execute the "Uninstall programs" utility of Wine, and the CD Unit cannot be detected; it happens even when I run the Wine config to detect the CD device, it finds it but when going back to Install programs, the drive letter is not there.
2. I then ran the setup.exe program

"Start" menu entries not created by installer?
Moin,
I installed IMatch, which I used on Windows for a long time, on WINE 1.1.16. The installer file always created a Start Menu entry when running in Windows 2000 pro, but does not in WINE. Although 2 desktop icons are created: "IMatch 3.6.lnk" with the MS Windows icon on it, and "IMatch 3.6" with the usual IMatch icon.
This may be a feature and not a bug :-)
Is it normal

Duplicate Desktop Icons...
Hi,
I posted this problem a while back but wasn't able to resolve the issue.
It's gotten worse--now almost all of my users in the network have the
duplicate icon problem.
I'm recently upgraded to samba-3.0.23d from 3.0.21 on an OpenBSD 4.0
server. I'm using folder redirection to redirect the Application Data,
Desktop, My Documents, and Favorites folders off to

rsync problem with symbolic links on Cygwin
Dear rsync maintainers,
Hi, I have been seeing a problem for awhile in an rsync script I
maintain with how rsync syncs symbolic links between and rsync daemon
running on Linux and an rsync client running on recent Cygwin that I
am wondering is a known issue. Basically rsync always copies symbolic
links, even when they already exist on the destination. I run rsync
multiple times, with

Wine release 1.2-rc1
The Wine development release 1.2-rc1 is now available.
This is the first release candidate for Wine 1.2. It marks the
beginning of the code freeze period. Please give this release a good
testing to help us make 1.2 as good as possible.
What's new in this release (see below for details):
- Many new toolbar icons.
- Support for alpha blending in image lists.
- Much more complete shader

WINE Icons.
Is there any way at all that I can remove the wine glass from icons of WINE? I'm trying to achieve consistency, and unless it's a .lnk(Which I don't want to use), I can't do that.
My question is simply this: Can I remove the WINE glass and show only the raw file icons?

LTSpice IV Won't Launch from the Wine Menu
It's been a while since I used LTSpice, but it always worked on Wine no matter which distro I was running. However, I recently installed it on both Mint 11 and Mint 12 and had the same problems.
The first problem I noticed was when I installed it, it placed the desktop configuration file on my Mint desktop. I had never seen that happen before. The second problem was that the application

CentOS 5.2 - Nautilus - file types are not associated with an action and icons are not displayed
Hi all,
I use CentOS 5.2 as a desktop and the Gnome Nautilus doesn't display
icons related to the file types and all associated actions ("open with")
are lost. It is so bad, that the desktop shortcuts are displayed as
ordinary files "Filesystem.desktop" or
"openoffice.org-1.9-calc.desktop", and when I click on them, the
Nautilus wants to know what it should

Wine icons for Windows applications
Hi,
The latest version of Wine on a Ubuntu/Gnome system automatically creates the correct icons when shortcuts are placed in the desktop or "virtual start menu". However, it seems that the largest icon created is 48x48. Can this size be increased as these icons look fuzzy when using applications like Docky with zoom enabled? (or does this need to be changed somewhere else rather than

Help creating a shortcut in wine
Can anyone help me with how to create a windows shortcut in wine? I
want to create windows shortcuts on a Linux box that windows clients
can then access. I'm trying to use wine to allow me to create the
shortcut on the Linux box. I'm using the wine-0.9.31 version of wine
on Fedora Core 5. I've tried two approaches, both fail.
I've tried using an autohotkey script. This script runs

Strange problem with icons!
Check out these MSKB articles. They describe how shortcuts are
resolved. In particular, the last one describes the process required to
"fix" this behaviour.
I had a LOT of trouble when I first set up my LAN because people had a
nasty habit of sharing drive C (even I used to do this until I
discovered that this is a Bad Idea). The main problem is that the
shortcut includes the UNC

problems with windows-lnk-files - SOLVED
Good morning,
thank you for your informations! I'll try them one by one.
But as I can see now, I have to change my ways - batch-files are a maybe
the best alternative, that I haven't thought of!
Thank you very much!
Greetings
