How to access optical drive (cd, dvd)?
Hello everyone. I'm having a problem accessing my optical (CD/DVD) drive under WINE. What I would like to do is access it "directly" through WINE, i.e. whenever I insert a CD or DVD, I'd like WINE to detect it under it's E:\ (or D: or whatever) drive. However, I don't know how to set this up (and even whether it's possible, but I suppose it is). My CD/DVD drive is

mountmgr doesn't recognize d:: link to /dev/sr0
I am a Fedora 13 user, so HAL automounts CDROMs and DVDROMs on /media/<LABEL> (this node is also dynamically created and removed from the /media/ directory as needed). II would like to assign a device drive letter to /dev/sr0 to reference any CD or DVD when inserted (e.g. d:: --> /dev/sr0), instead of having to manually create a symlink to the dynamically created /media/<LABEL>

Running with an iso image
Hi, I am trying to run a program (Diablo 2) from an iso image of the disc rather than the disc itself. I used mkisofs to create the image, then I mounted it on /mnt/virtualcd. I can't get Diablo 2 to recognize it, though. First I create a new drive in winecfg, e:, and made that /mnt/virtualcd, but when I ran Diablo 2 it said it couldn't detect the CD. So then I removed e: and changed

Re: running TextAloudMP3
Hello I've succeeded running older version ov TextAloud on my machine (to some extend). It means that now I can type my registration code in the application and continue with running TextAloud. Later at some moment it ties to use TTS engines and then it shows the message that TTS engine isn't installed. I've installed AT&T Natural voices in TextAloud directory and have instructed

can not define drives with winecfg 20050725
Hello. I'm trying to make wine 20050725 works. As I understand it, the old .wine/config file is now obsolete, and wine configuration should be done through winecfg. When I launch winecfg, I got this message: Warning: the specified Windows directory L"c:\\windows" is not accessible. Warning: the specified System directory L"c:\\windows\\system" is not accessible.

Unable to use Photoshop CS scratch disk on tmpfs
I am running Photoshop CS under Wine (was 1.1.44, is now 1.3.0) and am unable to use a tmpfs mount as a scratch drive. Using winecfg I have mapped /tmp (the tmpfs mount) to a drive letter. It shows up in some dialogs such as Open or Save but not under the scratch drive setting in Preferences. When it is listed in, say, the Open dialog, the icon is different than the other drive letters (such as

sda and sdb reverse order with an external USB drive
Hello I am using 64 bit CentOS 6.4 on an i7 laptop with one sata drive and a CD drive. I installed CentOS by manually partitioning sda as: sda1 as /boot, sda2 as swap, sda3 as /. The booted system works great. When I insert an external USB drive, formatted as ext3, the hard drive on the laptop and the USB drive are either sda or sdb, depending upon the order on which I insert the USB drive

Gigasampler LE - unhandled exception during installation
Hi, When attempting to install a program in new installation of Wine I run into this problem. In an earlier version of Wine (20040505) the installation progress further and then ended with a different error. In the new version I don't get very far and drop into WINEDEBUG. The P62 thing is interesting. That's a local USB printer setup in CUPS which is not attached at the moment. Not

Hi folks I"ve downloaded and installed wine on RedHat 8, kernel 2.4.19 (and 20) The install for Mechwarrior 2 has run without errors. Of course, its already there and the drive was mounted with the command

how to rename/label network drives
Hello -- I am running samba 3.0.20b as PDC. The clients are running Windows XP SP2. I have a question about how to rename/label the network drive on the clients. It appears when users login, Windows OS automatically names the mapped drives shown in Windows explorer as sharename & server name & (drive letter), such as public on 'Samba 3.0.21b (pdc.example.com)' (P:).

using audio CDROM with EAC & Suse 10.2 (wine)
I could use some help setting up Exact Audio Copy using wine 0.9.24 and SuSe 10.2 with KDE 3.5xx My problem is finding the audio cd, If I put in a data disk, hal will update /media/.hal.mtab will have an entry and create a temporary mounting point such as /media/new I probably could use that in winecfg to set up a mounting point for wine. However if I insert an audio disk, the hal system
