Wine does not use PATH for DLL search, is this a bug or feature ?
Hi, I test both 0.9.44 and 0.9.45 and found that Wine does not use PATH environment variables for DLL search. My test application is a Qt 336 application, QSlider.exe. QSlider.exe require both qt-mt336.dll and mingwm10.dll. If I copy both dll to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32, I can invoke QSlider.exe from anywhere and it works OK. If I put both dlls to, eg. /opt/qt-3.3/bin. And setup

problem with DivX9 and winetricks
HI Trying to install Divx9 using winetricks. Using Ubuntu 8.10 and have cabextract installed, and my graphics card has it's driver installed (NVIDIA GEforce FX 5200). Installation seems to go ok but does not re-start machine and there appear to be error messages in the terminal window, despite the fact that it says DivX is isntalled. Testing results by trying to play Age of Empires II -

Wine and ConquerOnline
Hello, I'm using Linux for about two months now. Even before switching to Linux I have heard of Wine. I got my system running relativelly stable (I use Slackware 10.2, kernel-2.6.14 and KDE 3.4), but still have some issues - sound being one of them. But that's my problem. I'd like to contribute to the wine project somehow. Perhaps starting as a test user for some application.

How to use apps and DLLs from XP partition?
I have a Dell Latitude D600 with Windows XPsp2 on the first partition and Ubuntu Feisty (Linux kernel 2.6.20) with Wine 0.9.30 on the second partition, set up to dual-boot. The XP share is NTFS and mounted read-only for Linux. What I want to do is run my Windows apps from the XP partition under Wine, because I really hate using Windows. A lot of the apps seem to ask for DLLs they can't find.

Upgrading Wine with VFAT partitions existing
I guess I've been going about things all wrong when it comes to upgrading Wine. I have assumed that I could simply install the newer version over the top of the older one and that any conversion issues would be addressed on the next startup. I see now that is not the case. I have not even seen any mention of compatibility issues in the abbreviated release announcements. I need to learn

Help config Wine!
Hi everybody! I'm a brand new Wine user. I'm trying to set it up using winetools-212jo. But it says right at the start my version of Wine (20050930) is not support. Should I worry about it? Anyway, I've a dual boot system (Linux and WinXP). How can I set Wine up so it "sees" my Windows partition (NTFS, supported by my 2.6.13.3 kernel) and use the programs currently

Benefits from using original Windows DLLs?
Hello, I still own MS Windows NT 4 Workstation and Windows95 both on CD. According to the FAQ Windows can't be installed using Wine, but the DLLs could be extracted and used with Wine. Is there much benefit from doing this? I guess the DLLs could be copied to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system right? If it makes sense, what is best to used, Win95 or Win NT4? Is this procedure legally

Where does wine look for the native dlls
Hey guys, I have wine 0.9.22. In winecfg, under the Libraries tab, I have the choice of setting whether libraries are taken from a native windows installation or from those built into wine. The only thing is, I don't know where it's trying to get native libraries. I have three installations of Windows on my computer - 98, XP and 3.11 ;-). I have searched through my wine config files,

replacing builtin library files with native dlls
Hi, I want to replace some of the builtin libraries of Wine with native ones to improve performance in some games. The wine documentation refers to a '~/.wine/config' that doesn't exist. From what I've gathered from this mailing list, I should simply move the native dlls I want into the fake c drive (.wine/drive_c/windows) and Wine will use them instead. Is this right or am I

Warcraft 3 - "no program start menu found"
Has anyone had any luck installing Warcraft 3? All I get is a dialog saying "No program start menu found"... I tried creating ~/.wine/drive_c/Documents and Settings/All Users/Start Menu/Programs, but that had no effect... perhaps there's a registry key I need to add? Thanks!

Ragnarok Online - Can't update the client (details inside)
Hello. This is my first post here, as until now I wasn't missing any Windows program. As at the moment I can spare some free time I wanted to do a brief come back to Ragnarok Online. The problem that I found is that the installer crashes every single time I start the game (image link) (http://ompldr.org/vNXpheg), and then it becomes irresponsible (image link) (http://ompldr.org/vNXpiOA).

Installation of IE6 and Office2000 with wine 0.9.12
Hi, I used some time ago the winetools package to configure wine older than 0.9.10 with IE6 and Office 2000. Updates of wine up to 0.9.10 where also succesful, so that I was able to continue the usage of MS Office2000. But since the Desktop changes in wine 0.9.11, 0.9.12 the old installation does no more work. ## My experiements to install IE6 and Office 2000 without winetools are not yet

Native, Builtin for Dummies
Yes I know this is stupid, but I do not understand the difference between Native and Builtin, in that Native is the original Windows dll Builtin is the Wine version OK, but what is in the drive_C/windows/system32 folder? are these the Builtin dlls? or are they just stubs needed to fool the programs into thinking that the dll exists? If they are just stubs and I want to use a Native dll for just
