Wine and Remote Desktop??---- can't get mouse focus
hi all:
I copied over a windows MSTSC.exe and ran the remote desktop,
it gave me a small window for the IP address, then after the
successful connection, it shows me the (full screen ) XP login
interface, weir thing is, it loses mouse / keyboard focus now, so I
can't type in anything, neither can I close the window, the focus is
still on the background (gnome) desktop, so I could press

Keyboard focus in 'some' wine apps (games)
Hi,
I've noticed, now that I'm using twinview, that when I click any other window outside of the Wine desktop (Civ4 or WCIII normally), I can click back to the Wine desktop but can no longer use any of the keyboard shortcuts. Things work fine before actually clicking outside the wine window (for example, on my Pidgin chat window).
This happens whether the app is run in windowed mode or

Win Program loses focus and cannot regain it back.
Application is working on Windows but when I run on RedHat10 under Wine 1.1.15. It looses focus and underlying Linux applications to get the keystrokes from the keyboard.
Clicking on the application we're trying to run or switching with ALT+TAB doesn't not give it the focus back.
The parameters we're running Wine are:
Allow the window manager to decorate the windows : OFF

Window Focus Changes When Dragging
Hi,
Here is a scenario:
I have two windows (A and B) and I want to drag a file from one to the other.
I focus window A, browse to the place that I want to drop the file and
then try and pick up the file from window B, window B gets focused
when I start to drag the icon
Is there any way to make Compiz only focus a window when I click it
but not when I click and drag an item on it? (Sometimes,

Getting the window having the focus
Greetings!
I'm currently gathering information that helps software in assessing the
user's context. One very important such data would be the application
that the user is currently working with which mostly is roughly
equivalent to the name of the window that has the focus. Unfortunately
I'm at a loss even about which API to ask for this information. As
personally I am using compiz as

Mouse focus in Wine
Hi,
If I play a game in Wine - either Caesar III or Half Life come to
mind right now - they seem to work better for me in a windowed setup
where the game is not full screen and I can still see the rest of my
Gnome desktop in the background. Caesar III plays well under Cedega or
Wine, HL much better under Cedega, but the point being that I've tried
both.
The frustration I've had is

Recovering a broken mirror
We have a production SunFireV240 that had a zfs mirror until this week. One of the drives (c1t3d0) in the mirror failed.
The system was shutdown and the bad disk replaced without an export.
I don''t know what happened next but by the time I got involved there was no evidence that the remaining good disk (c1t2d0) had ever been part of a ZFS mirror.
Using dd on the raw device I can see data

Problem with Wine window focus using FVWM2
Wine version 20010629 running Lotus Notes 5.08
Linux RedHat 7.1 with Xfree86 Version 4 and FVWM2 window manager
When I run this version of Wine with FVWM2 the Wine window always
appears on top ( always obscures other windows). I use a click to focus
window policy and when I click on another window on the desktop it
will not raise it over the Wine window although the window I click on
does receive

focus problems
Hi!
I have some focus problems with wine if I use the managed mode.
When I start the application it has focus. But if I switch to another window,
and back, then the window gets its focus (the window decorations shows it),
but the windows app does not get it. If I click somewhere in the window, then
it gets the focus properly, but before that even the shortcuts does not work.
With one app it

Disabling mouse tracking when X11 focus leaves wine?
Hello all,
I was very pleased to find that Age of Empires II works so well in wine.
Now, one hobby of mine is to create custom AI scripts for the game (see www.aiscripters.com for examples), and let different scripts (mine and other people's) play against each other, mostly unattended.
The problem is, that the running AoEII game still tracks the position of the mouse
pointer whenever I move

Dual head window focus
I have been trying to configure my way out of this problem but so far I
haven't found a way. The problem is when running in a dual monitor mode
with 2 display devices window focus behaves differently that I expect it
would. If I am working on display :1 and rotate the cube, window focus
doesn't stay on display :1 but switches to the most recently used window
on display :0. I am used to use

Twinview and wine explorer /desktop
The command I run (important bits):-
Code:
wine explorer /desktop=civ4,1280x800 Civ4BeyondSword.exe
My system has twinview running, an external monitor (1280x1024) and my laptop LCD (1280x800). Gnome sees it as one large monitor of 2560x1024, my monitor is on the left, my LCD on the right. Even though I start wine from the laptop monitor, it starts up (with indicated resolution) on the

1.3.26 focus on Wine windows minimizes all native windows
Since updating to 1.3.26 anytime the window for a program running
through wine has focus all native (opensuse 11.4 kde) windows minimize.
If I click on a native window in my task bar the wine window minimizes
and all previously viewable native windows appear. I have never had this
happen before and have not changed anything on the system other than the
wine update in the time this problem

testing non-linear component in mgcv:gam
Hi,
I need further help with my GAMs. Most models I test are very
obviously non-linear. Yet, to be on the safe side, I report the
significance of the smooth (default output of mgcv's summary.gam) and
confirm it deviates significantly from linearity.
I do the latter by fitting a second model where the same predictor is
entered without the s(), and then use anova.gam to compare the

Comparing models in multiple regression and hierarchical linear regression
I don?t know if this question properly belongs on this list, but I?ll ask it here because I?ve been using R to run linear regression models, and it is only in using R (after switching from using SPSS) that I have discovered the process of fitting a linear model. However, after reading Crowley (2002), Fox (2002), Verzani (2004), Dalgaard (2002) and of course searching the R-help archives I cannot

Concept: Wine as a workspace
Hi, I had an idea which I would like to post. Not sure if this is the right place but I don't see anywhere else.
Where you can run wine as a window. "Emulate Virtual Desktop", would it be possible to set a workspace up as a virtual desktop?
I am interested to know what other people think, am I the only one who would like this or do other peopel thin its a good idea too?

Some strange window bahviour with Papyrus in wine
Hello
(I hope this is the correct group for this post - if not I am sure you
will tell me where to go :-)) )
I use wine 0.9.23-12.1 in Suse 10.1 on my laptop to run Papyrus (a word
processor originally written for the Atari platform and now available for
Windows).
I have been very pleased with recent versions of wine as it seems now to
be working almost perfectly for Papyrus :-)
However, I
