Duke Nukem Forever Demo (Steam) not launching
Got someone this demo working? 50,- EUR is a lot money to me so I like to play the demo first. But it seems to be impossible? I have latest Wine from GIT and did the required winetricks steps (dinput8, xinput, removed asterisk from dinput8 user.reg line, added xinput1_3 (with native only) to winecfg, corefonts, tahoma installed; all done in a new wine bottle aka. WINEPREFIX). A +d3d logfile

cclust causes R to crash when using manhattan kmeans
Dear R users, When I run the following code, R crashes: require(cclust) x <- matrix(c(0,0,0,1.5,1,-1), ncol=2, byrow=TRUE) cclust(x, centers=x[2:3,], dist="manhattan", method="kmeans") While this works: cclust(x, centers=x[2:3,], dist="euclidean", method="kmeans") I'm posting this here because I am not sure if it is a bug. I've been searching

Manhattan Plot
Hi, Tenfei, I have two group of data composed of gene mutation and deletion on specific sites. Will it be possible for me to use the Manhattan Plot for comparison? Thank you for you attention! Li-Wu Guo, Ph.D. Sent from Windows Mail [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Manhattan Plot
Hello, I am trying to create a simple Manhattan plot for a small list of 200 SNPs spread out in the genome in different genes. I have tried different functions (using ggplot2 and a function created by Stephen Turner, mhtplot etc.)-none of them work smoothly. Does anyone have a simple way to create the plot (not for all 22 chromosomes)- with the x axis showing the genes name and not the

A bit OT...but here is a nifty Rails sighting.... ;)
According to arstechnica, <http://arstechnica.com/reviews/games/forever.ars>Duke Nukem Forever has been ported to Ruby on Rails and is now rendered with some kind of magic mishmash of svg-canvas and ajax! This truely is an example of the incredible power of a web browser. Any hope for getting Mr. Fowler to add a Recipe for this type of thing in his new book? ;) -------------- next part

agp video card direction
greetings i am thinking of purchasing a 256 meg or larger AGP video card my current card is a 128 meg nvidia geforce fx 5200 and i have a viewsonic vp201s lcd monitor are their larger memory AGP cards worth buying? i have no idea it will be for serious CentOS and Win XP integration and testing and eventually production issues... Manhattan Plot
To whom it may concern: My name is Jillian Weinfeld. I am currently and undergraduate student at New York University and working at Mount Sinai School of Medicine doing research with epilepsy patients. At the moment I am creating a manhattan plot with my data set. After reading many forums and such, I have appropriately plotted my data, however, I wanted to see how I can change the colors of the

wav to flac corruption
So some research and experimentation I think I found the problem, but I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. If I import one of the wav files into Audacity then export them as "16 bit PCM" then they encode to flac and play fine. The files bitrates are currently at 24. If I export them from audacity as a 24 or 32 (anything higher than 16), flac fails on me. With a bitrate of 24, the

Perhaps someone here will see something useful if you post the output of the following function calls: sessionInfo() .libPaths() file.info(.libPaths()) and the verbatim (copied) error (in context) that you are seeing. -- Sent from my phone. [cluster package question] What is the "sum of the dissimilarities" in the pam command ?
Hello Martin Maechler and All, A simple question (I hope): How can I compute the "sum of the dissimilarities" that appears in the pam command (from the cluster package) ? Is it the "manhattan" distance (such as the one implemented by "dist") ? I am asking since I am running clustering on a dataset. I found 7 medoids with the pam command, and from it I have the

Any better way of optimizing time for calculating distances in the mentioned scenario??
Dear All, I'm dealing with a case, where 'manhattan' distance of each of 100 vectors is calculated from 10000 other vectors. For achieving this, following 4 scenarios are tested: 1) scenario 1: > x<-read.table("query.vec") > v<-read.table("query.vec2") > d<-matrix(nrow=nrow(v),ncol=nrow(x)) > for (i in 1:nrow(v)){ + d[i,]<-

unable to move temporary installation of package
A) Don't try to "move" packages from one library (=directory of installed packages) to another. B) Although R Open is very close to CRAN R, it has some differences that you REALLY NEED TO READ about at their website. Pay particular attention to the checkpoint feature in this case. Note that troubles installing it or with the MKL are probably off-topic here, though R language

bug (?!) in "pam()" clustering from fpc package ?
Hello all. I wish to run k-means with "manhattan" distance. Since this is not supported by the function "kmeans", I turned to the "pam" function in the "fpc" package. Yet, when I tried to have the algorithm run with different starting points, I found that pam ignores and keep on starting the algorithm from the same starting-points (medoids). For my

unable to move temporary installation of package
Thanks Jeff, So I initially when I got the computer moved my old packages into the new directory rather than downloading and installing them again. That was fine. I then just did a test to see if I could write in the folder and indeed I can. Just not via R. I uninstalled R Open, installed R 3.4.4, and the problem persisted, including just running it from the R console rather than from R
