Denon AVR-5308CI with FLAC decoding!
I just read on Gizmodo that the new Denon AVR-5308CI will include FLAC decoding! According to the text, it supports "USB inputs for bus-powered HDD, along with AAC, FLAC, WMA Lossless, MP3 and WAV decoding" Very happy to see FLAC being supported by a big name like Denon! Josh (or anyone else), curious if you know to what extent the support is offered or if you have any further

new FLAC support
as devices that support FLAC come out from time to time, I update the front page on the FLAC site, but it occurred to me that people might miss some of these. the ideal way would be to set up an rss news feed but until that's ready, here are a few from the last month or so: Linn Klimax DS networked digital music player http://www.linn.co.uk/klimax_ds Pioneer SC-LX90 amplifier

Fwd: Setting up ADSI
I sent this yesterday from my wrong email account. yeah, Thank you. I screwed up by only looking at adsi.conf, and not asterisk.adsi. Once I saw that, things started falling into place. Are you able to pass arguments to the phone so that for every call there is unique data on the screen. I see that works for caller id with $Call1p and $Call1s, but what If I obtain an OrderID from my

OT: Measure 2U Server Amp Usage
Hi, Running a bunch of CentOS servers on 2U supermicro equipment, usually with 8 drives on Adaptec SmartRAID V or LSI Megaraid. In designing a rack in a data center, the question arises as to how to measure the amperage the server uses, prior to investing in power drops that actually do that for you, even remotely, for about $260.00-300USD per unit. This number is the important one these days

Help me, Nouveau list, you're my only hope...
I hope I'm writing to people who can help me. If not you, then I have a serious inconvenience and am going to be at a complete loss for where to turn. Let me explain my setup. I have an HTPC with a GeForce GT620. It is connected to a Denon AVR-1913 via HDMI, because that does all the switching for my entertainment system then out to an LG flat-panel 55-inch TV via HDMI. Everything was

I''m looking over a couple of used systems that I can get for less than 150USD. I can''t seem to decide if I should splurge and get a 4x box for 25 dollars more than a 2x at a slightly higher clockspeed. 112952-001-B1-06 Proliant 6500 - 4xPIII Xeon500MHz/1MB, 256MB 100738-003-B1-06 Proliant 5500 - 2xPIIIXeon550MHz/512KB, 256MB Any suggestions? G.729? Worth it? -- YES --
im using g729, but the bw usage is ~26 kbps per call, my gateways (cisco) support g723 and the bw between the gateways is ~18 kbps per call. Much better than the ~62 kbps of the g711. if you plan to be a voip provider you "must" go with compression codecs, especially if you want your customers to browse the internet while having a call. i.e. : We give voip phones (grandstream) to our

$1000USD for fix of Asterisk g726-32 codec
Hi All, I am happy to offer $1000USD for the fix of the g726-32 in Asterisk. What's wrong with it? It currently gives a very distorted sound as though the gain is set to high. Lowering the gain on endpoints helps but this is not a fix just a poor workaround. We require g726-32 to be of the same quality as the Asterisk g711 implementation. As the developer who fixes this issue you will

Grandstream GXP-2000 Poor sound Quality
I have upgraded the GXP-2000 to the newest firmware 1.0.1.12<http://1.0.1.12>and the phone is much more usable However, I still have two slight sound quality issues: 1) There is static on the line at all times. It is not that noticable to me, but when I make calls out the PSTN the person on the other end hears it. If I use a Cisco ATA with an analog phone and call the same person again

USB audio on Centos-7
I'm using Centos-7 on my PC, with ASUS motherboard. internal audio has always worked fine EXCEPT that I can never get audio input (for recording) to work. I want to feed audio from a phono turntable and from a cassette deck. I use a phono preamp for the turntable, or directly connect the tape deck. but either nothing, or low level with horrible distortion. so, I gave up (after years of

How many R packages are not free?
Hello Everyone,   Just finished reading A Handbook of Statistical Analyses using R by Everitt and Hothorn. I'll begin by saying that I quite liked the book. It's both little and mighty in the sense that it's very compact but contains a tremendous amount of useful material.   The last chapter of the book deals with cluster analysis.  There's a package used in this chapter (I believe

Quadraphonics
Over the weekend I chanced by the house of a quadraphile friend of mine to check it his SQ setup. For those interested, he has a fairly decent Kenwood linear turntable with what I understand is a rather pricy cartridge manufactured by some company whose name escapes me, hooked into a Fosgate Tate II SQ decoder which is likewise hooked into two X10-D buffers then finally into a Marantz receiver.

RAID options for Gluster
I think this discussion probably came up here already but I couldn't find much on the archives. Would you able to comment or correct whatever might look wrong. What options people think is more adequate to use with Gluster in terms of RAID underneath and a good balance between cost, usable space and performance. I have thought about two main options with its Pros and Cons No RAID (individual
