When Will Wine 1.3.20 For Ubuntu Release?
Hi,
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 64Bit
with an nVidia GeForce GTS 450 1GB
and current nVidia proprietary display drivers.
(I'm a die hard gamer with over 100+ Steam games)
I have already added Wine 1.3 PPA into Ubuntu,
but Wine 1.3.20 update has not come yet?
This newest Wine is a critical version for me
because it addresses the mouse leaving

Re: 64-bit chess engines and wine 1.2
@triso
because some of the engines, notably the two strongest, are not offered as native linux programs.
i've updated my ubuntu 64-bit wine install script to use wine 1.3.13
http://www.jesseo.com/chess/64-bit-wine-ubuntu-1.3.13.sh
i've gotten many engines to run from the terminal with this command

Ubuntu Xenial 3.12.2 Gluster DEB packages are missing VIRT group settings
Just did a greenfield install for a new Replication 2 + arb cluster from
ppa:gluster/glusterfs-3.12
on U16 LTS (Xenial)
It install cleanly and easily except it was missing virt group file (or
any group) in /var/lib/glusterd/groups
I grabbed an older virt file from another cluster and used that.
It was composed of:
performance.quick-read=off
performance.read-ahead=off

the best way to do that (as documented on the PPA page) is to open an
issue at https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs-debian/issues
Luckily email traffic is light today and I noticed this, otherwise it
would probably have been lost.

Ubuntu - winecfg problems
I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problems configuring
wine as I am?
I just installed wine (0.9.20):

(WineFromSource)
Everything appears to run fine but when I go into "Wine configuration"
(winecfg). I can't click on the "Audio" tab without it crashing and
giving me this error:

Ubuntu DEB Packages for Hardy?
Hi,
I'm still running Ubuntu Hardy and I will upgrade when Lucid comes out. I just wish to know when the latest DEB files will come out? Wine updates seem to have stopped at wine-1.1.39.
Please support Hardy until Lucid comes out. It's still the latest LTS.

r-base-dev not installing in Ubuntu 16.04
I have recently re-installed R on my Ubuntu system to get R 3.5 and found
this to have worked:
# you may need to remove incumbent repos e.g. with:
sudo apt-add-repository --remove ppa:marutter/rrutter
# add new repos
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:marutter/rrutter3.5 # for base R
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:marutter/c2d4u4.5 # for pkgs - this saved me
lots of time installing my set-up

Problems running programming IDE
Hey guys,
This is Jesse Cox (KI4JGT) I'm writing you guys today because I'm having
trouble figuring out what has been going on with a programming IDE I
frequent on Windows. It's ran on every version of WINE I've installed
for the last 3 years. Since the upgrade of Ubuntu 11.04, WINE no longer
offers the ability to run this program (JustBASIC -

Hi Dirk,
Apologies for the html.
I think I'm missing something simple.?? Ubuntu 20.10 uses /etc/apt/sources.list.d to hold repo information and I have this file there: marutter-ubuntu-rrutter4_0-focal.list with contents:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/marutter/rrutter4.0/ubuntu/ focal main

Ubuntu PPA changes
I've created a new PPA in which to maintain the backported versions of
the latest Debian packages to Ubuntu releases:
https://launchpad.net/~xapian/+archive/ubuntu/backports
The reason for this change is that the existing PPA is stuck using a
GPG key created when the PPA was first created a decade ago. This
is a 1024 bit RSA key using SHA1 as the hash, and that's not really

[1.5.2]-Blizzard Game Downloader Crashes?
Hi,
Blizzard's game download program is crashing on WINE 1.5.2.
When run, program downloads game for few minutes then crashes with segfault.
Both WINE 1.4.x and current WINE 1.5.2 show this problem.
Both Linux Mint 12 KDE 64Bit and current Kubuntu 12.04 LTS 64Bit show this problem.
I really want to play StarCraft 2 game(which I purchased) on my Linux.
Any help would be appreciated...

Moving to R 3.0.0 on Ubuntu
This is a post I just added to my Ubuntu R Blog
(http://www.personal.psu.edu/mar36/blogs/the_ubuntu_r_blog/2013/03/moving-to-r-300-on-ubuntu.html).
As you may (or may not) be aware of, R 3.0.0 is [scheduled to be
released](http://www.r-project.org/) on April 3rd. Since this is a
major release and there may be some growing pains (but I hope not) in
the move 3.0.0, here is some information

[1.4rc4][LinuxMint12KDE64Bit]-PPA-"public key is not available"?
Hi,
Running current Wine version 1.4 RC #4
on LinuxMint 12 KDE 64Bit OS.
I added the Wine PPA to my "Software Sources",
but now "Update Manager" constantly complains:
"The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is
not available" ?
How do I fix the above error?
