When our important data were not tampered with and removed correctly, we have a need to recover and restore data to make the data valid and effective. Usually solve the problem is to remove data set certain data for the log before the operation in the implementation of a modified first data stored in the log, then perform the actual modification operations, the time when errors are found

Drive recovery?
I have a CentOS 5.6 system (recently installed) that, for some reason, has decided to mangle one of its drives, specifically /dev/hde1 ... No errors anywhere, just rebooted the machine over the weekend and it's gone. Up till the reboot, the drive was fine, I was writing to it without a problem. fdisk tells me: ---------- # fdisk -l /dev/hde Disk /dev/hde: 160.0 GB, 160041885696

HFS+ resource forks: WIP patch included
As you all know, rsync doesn't have any special handling for Mac OS X HFS+ resource forks. Kevin Boyd made RsyncX and rsync_hfs, to address this gap, but they only work when the destination filesystem is also HFS+. I haven't been able to find any references to an rsync that is capable of syncing from HFS+ to UFS (etc). The only solutions I've seen involve lots of preprocessing

isohybrid: slint64-14.1.iso: unable to find mac efi image
HI, In http://slint.fr/misc/MacBoot/ you'll find all context information. All files referenced here are stored there. Long story short: once dd-ed on an USB stick the ISO image can boot on a BIOS or EFI machine, but I want it to be able to boot on most x86_64 Macs with an EFI firmware. Unfortunately I get the error message: isohybrid: slint64-14.1.iso: unable to find mac efi image The

hfs with extended attribute support
Hi all, I?ve got a HFS+(not journaled) volume connected to my centos6.2 test server, i installed the kmod-hfs(plus) packages and read/write works all fine. but since i?m going to use this for serving mac home folders via netatalk i would like to mount it with support for Extended Attributes and acl?s. so i add user_xattr and acl to my fstab options but then it fails to mount. checking the

Writing on an HFS+ drive on raspberry pi
Hey there, to be clear: You've mounted a HFS+ drive on your raspberry pi with rw permissions using fstab. You're able to write files (e.g. as root) on your shares directory without samba, right? As soon as you try to connect Samba using your Mac you haven't any write permissions, right? Have you tried using a Windows machine to connect to your share? Or to disable the Unix

Operation not supported (95)
Hi guys, I'm running into a problem that I'm sure which part of the process fails. I use wget (OSX Leopard, wget 3.0.6 compiled from source) to backup my ~/Pictures directory to a linux server, also with wget 3.0.6 (Debian). In persuit of being sure I get everything from HFS filesystem (resource fork/metadata), I'm getting the following error: rsync: rsync_xal_set:

Making a NAS/HFS server
I ran into a problem that I couldn't resolve straight away, but would like to solve for sometime in the future. We have a Thecus storage server (similar to a Buffalo TeraByte, if that helps?) that has a Mac filesystem on it. The mother board was failing, but the drives are still OK. A new box has been added, so the urgency is sort of gone. I was going to try and back up the data to a new

rsync and hfs+ compressed files damaged
Hi All, I have been using rysnc 3.0.6 with Mike's rsync_3.0.6-hfs-compression_20091027.diff patch (as well as the standard osx patches) with good results. I discovered that clones done on 10.6 using this rsync cause some executable files ( the ones that are mostly compressed this way on osx ) to be damaged. I did a test twice and indeed a handful of them are damaged. They all appear to be in

Feature Request: OS X / hfs+ / resources fork
rsync is a very useful tool for me to backup from Max OS X to a linux server. However, would developers please add one feature: When rsync runs on an OS X machine and the source files are in hfs+ (or hfs) filesystem, copy the resources fork to a file with filename starts with a dot and append the original filename. That's the current behaviour of samba client on OS X interacting with

centos8 / anaconda EFI regression / HFS+ ESP
Hi folks, years ago I had no problem installing CentOS7 on my iMac workstation (iMac Late 2015). The installation worked out of the box. Today I wanted to upgrade to CentOS8 and while configuring the partitions I get an error that the installation can not start because: "HFS+ ESP needed and mounted on /boot/efi". In fact they are the same partition as for CentOS7. Is this a regression

[PATCH 1/1] Patch to recover orphans in offline slots during recovery and mount (revised)
During recovery, a node recovers orphans in it's slot and the dead node(s). But if the dead nodes were holding orphans in offline slots, they will be left unrecovered. If the dead node is the last one to die and is holding orphans in other slots and is the first one to mount, then it only recovers it's own slot, which leaves orphans in offline slots. This patch queues complete_recovery

Os X and Win clients to SMB 3.0.10 server - how to hide ._ files from win clients only
Hello group, I am working on a test installation of Samba 3.0.10 on FreeBSD 5.3 as potential solution to some of our current file server problems. One of the main ones being good 'ole Win2000 Services for Macintosh - which we would like to dump completely. Here's the situation. We have a handful of Mac machines, all recently taken to 10.3.7 (10.3.8 upgrade is pending) which currently

Fwd: rsync on OSX for transferring files using FAT32
Hi, Which version of Mac OS X are you running? If you are on Mac OS 10.5.x then I can only suggest that you try either formating the drive to HFS + or creating a disk image with an HFS+ file system. If you are running Mac OS 10.4.x then ensure that that ACL support is enabled on the drive. The following URL contains information on how to check and enable ACL support :

Error 23 with hard links and 3.0.9 patched
Hello, I'm setting up a system for automated synchronization and backup between different macs (OS X Lion 10.7). I use HFS+ Journaled as filesystem. I wanted to follow these guidelines: http://www.bombich.com/rsync.html but I gave a look inside the patches Mr. Bombich suggested and I thought I could try first by using only the normal ones provided by rsync.samba.org, so I skipped curl -o
