I have a BSD system that I installed samba 2.2.7a onto. Smbd and nmbd
both work great but if I try to use smbclient to connect to a WinXPpro

I keep getting NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE. I put a sniffer on the XP Pro
machine and see the NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE message. Is there a problem

tinc with Windows XP Service Pack 2
Gday all,

No adapter materializes under Windows XP Service Pack 2 !
Latest OpenVPN drives install, but tinc can not handle this and does not
work.
One would assume that tinc has this problem solved by now ?
Any updates yet ?

Regards, Jan

Yet another data structure + pack/unpack question (win32-service)
Hi all,
If you take a look at the service.rb file in the win32-service
repository (the new one in the toplevel repository path), I''ve got this
bit of code, which succeeds, but I can''t seem to unpack the data
structure properly. Did I pack it wrong to begin with? I should know
this but I''m spacing out.

XP SP3 and posix locking
Hi,
the home directories of our users are NFS-mounted from a NetApp filer to
our samba server. Everthing was fine until the users installed the
service pack 3 for Windows XP on the client machines. Suddenly it was
impossible to write MS Office files on the samba share. Word or Excel
documents could only be opened in read-only mode. After de-installing
SP3 everything worked well again.

Profiles XP and Service Pack 1
Hi List,

we have a 130+ PC network running windows XP on the clients, with win2000
and
samba servers (SuSE 7.3 distribution rpm for samba 2.2.3 and SuSE 8.0
selfcompiled samba 2.2.5).
The windows servers just authenticate the users, and provide some additional
services (Terminal Server and some special software packages). Print- and
File-
services are provided by the samba servers.

RODBC odbcCloseAll odbcClose Windows XP
Hello...
After installing the precompiled version of R 2.1.0 (congratulations
to the R Development Core Team) for Windows XP (Service Pack 2), I'm
having problems with the "odbcCloseAll" and "odbcClose" functions
within the "RODBC" package. I get pretty much the same error message
for both functions:

Installing RMySQL on Windows XP for R 1.9.1
Hi,
I'm thankful for any help on installing RMySQL on Windows XP for R 1.9.1
The thread
http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/01/1021.html
already tried to discuss the matter. It concludes that Windows Sources for Packages are alike the Linux ones.
So I extracted the files from the RMySQL_*.tar.gz from
http://stat.bell-labs.com/RS-DBI/download/index.html
and stuffed them into a zip-file

Tinc on Windows XP
Hello!
I am trying to install tinc under Windows XP.
I have read the installation instructions for Windows.
The instructions don't call for creating any office
text file (just a text file for home). But in one of
your figures, you show that office key being
generated. When I run the tincd command, I see a home
file in the hosts directory, but there is no office
file. Am I missing

Any Windows XP SP2 RC2 Experience?
Earlier today I installed Windows XP SP2 RC2 onto
two of my production machines. My test boxes were
fine, but the two production machines I installed
them on failed to print in Adobe Reader and IE.
I've got a Samba 2.2.9 DC with a CUPS printing
backend.
Anyway, I've backed off the SP on both production
machines, and I'm going to try to replicate the
issue with another test box, but

2 TB Limit and Windows XP Pro?
Does anyone know if Windows XP Pro (Service Pack 2) will have difficulty
using a Samba share that is larger than 2 TB?
Windows seems to be able to read and write from a share that is larger than
2 TB -- for instance, Windows will tell me that a share is 4 TBs in size, and
if I have 1.5 TBs stored on it, it will tell me that 2.5 TB are free. But as
soon as 2 TB of data have been written

service pack info for wine's --winver nt40?
Hi,
I'm trying to install OrCAD's eCapture in a no-windows environment.
When I invoke the install shield with 'wine --winver nt40 Setup.exe' The
shield reports 'service pack 0 requires at least service pack 3'.
How do I trick the shield or any other windoz program to view wine's
nt40 emulation having a specific service pack.
Thanks,

win2000 service pack 4 - samba 2.2.2
Hello,
At 5pm today, we had an individual notify me that their 'profile' no longer was
accessible from the samba server (solaris 8 , smb 2.2.2). The person just had
their laptop reimaged and the new M$ service-pack 4 was installed on it.
They can access their 'home directory' just not the profile one. Error is
concerning the user not having access, versus rights. I installed the

Service.start arguments failing or causing segfault
Hi,
Unless I''m mistaken the final arguments to Service.start should be
passed to the Daemon''s service_main method. Correct?
I modified the Service.start method (now in CVS) to look something like
this:
def self.start(service, host=nil, *args)
    ...
    num_args = args.length
    if args.empty?
       args = nil
    else
       args.unshift(service) # Necessary?

Transfer rate on NT/XP/2000 with service pack 6a
Hi SAMBA,
This is not quite a remark on SAMBA, more a report of a problem that is
not related to SAMBA. However it could be of concern to your developers
team.
At our company we recently (last week) installed two new fileservers.
The next thing we got was a very strange effect.
The configuration:
- Two fileservers, running (i believe) Windows 2000, with service pack
6A and included all service

PDC for XP: empty desktop and desktop.ini showing up
Hello there,
I'm trying to set up Samba as a PDC for Windows XP Professional (SP2).
It seems to work fine. Machine accounts are created automatically,
passwords between Unix and Samba users get synced, I can logon, profile
directories are created - but there's a problem.
I know that this is well-known, but it drives me crazy and I don't know
any solution.
First of all, the
