problem with dpwsockx.dll and Baldurs Gate II
I'm trying to make Baldurs Gate II multiplayer working. I've used DLLs from archive on http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlayGames (and from my WinXP install). I've added DLL overrides (native, builtin) for: dplayx, dpnet, dpnhpast but the last: dpwsockx isn't on the list in winecfg. When I try to start a multiplayer game wine has a memory leak or something - goes to SWAP, everything is

dpwsockx.dll does not appear in winecfg
Hello. I'm trying to run Age of Kings multiplayer that seems to run fine for several other users. I followed the instruction that says: To get multiplayer working for such games (at least those that use a DirectPlay version prior to 8), place the DLLs in this archive in Wine's windows/system32 directory, then add DLL overrides (native, builtin) for: dplayx, dpnet, dpnhpast and dpwsockx.

Baldur's Gate 2 randomly crashes ("Runtime error") with Wine-20041201
Hi there, I've recently compiled Wine-20041201 and I'm trying to get Baldur's Gate II running. The installation sequence is fine, so is the main menu, character creation etc. The problem is, once inside the actual game, the application randomly crashes giving me: Runtime error c:\bg2\BGMain.exe abnormal program termination This happens often enough to render the gameplay quite

Using the Cider approach with Wine
Hi there, I'm extremely new to Wine, at least from this side of things (I've used CrossOver and Cider). I gather that installing Wine sets up a "central" mock-Windows installation in the home folder, and I'm much more interested in building a tweaked wrapper to enclose a specific game in a .app package, the way Cider does it. Is that something that is being done by others?

Giants: Citizen Kabuto (DirectPlay).
Hi, I am trying to run the dedicated server for the game "Giants: Citizen Kabuto" (1.4) using Wine 0.9.60. I copied dplayx.dll, dpnet.dll, dpnhpast.dll, dpwsockx.dll, and dplaysvr.exe to .wine/drive_c/windows/system32 as recommended in http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlayGames and put their corresponding overrides in the config (native, builtin). When I run the dedicated server, it starts

Baldurs Gate Throne of Bhaal won't launch
According to the AppDB it should work just fine but I'm having some problems and the search for the forums on "Baldur", "Bhaal" and "ToB" give no results. The game installed just fine. All the community mods installed fine. The game config file runs fine except for the display setting sections; after a the automated setting test I do not get the popup asking if

Fatal Error while Installing Baldur's Gate II
Howdy Folks, I'm trying to install Baldur's Gate II on a windowsless Wine configuration and not having much luck. When I run Setup.exe from /cdrom, I get the Baldur's Gate II splash screen, the progress bar indicating that InstallShield is preparing to install Baldur's Gate II - Shadow of Amn and a message box stating 'Error installing iKernel.exe: (0x1400)'. wine + games: Deux + Baldur 1 and 2
Hi all ! First, my apologies if this subject has already been discussed but the archives lack a "search" feature, so I've browsed a bit but not a lot before 2001. I browsed the winehq and I found some people have been able to use wine on Deux Ex, and Baldur 1 and 2. I installed the games with windows (they worked fine) and then tried running them with wine under linux (debian

Baldur's Gate slow after upgrading Linux Kernel
I'm running wine 1.1.2 on Gentoo Linux. When playing at least Baldur's Gate I and Baldur's Gate II with Linux 2.6.21 kernel it does run smoothly but changing the kernel to any newer version does the game to run slowly. I have been checking the config of both kernels, and I have tried to get the same in them. I have a GF 6600 GT and nvidia 173.14.09, but I don't think it's the

Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn - failure to run
To come clean at the very beginning of all this, I'm a very new Linux user - my Windows XP computer decided to destroy itself and so Ubuntu was my only choice in lieu of buying another copy of an already shoddy operating system. Because the Baldur's Gate 2 CDs do not have copy-protection, I simply copied their contents into a single folder in c: within wine's invisible directory.

Ubuntu 8.10 (32 bit), Wine 1.1.8, Baldur's Gate 1 problem.
Hello everyone, First of all let me say I'm a linux newbie, having only used the OS for a few days. I'm currently experiencing a problem with trying to get Baldur's Gate 1 to run. The install went flawlessly (Ubuntu 8.10, Wine 1.1.8) however when the launcher pops up. No matter what I click it hangs. I've tried all of the windows types in the Wine configuration panel but the

Can't run Baldur's Gate II - Shadows of Anm
I am using Fedora 8 with Wine 1.0 rc3. The game seemed to install ok. I did a full install. When I try to run baldur.exe from the wine menu in KDE I get a splash screen opening up with the options to install, exit , configure, update and demos. I also get a message box telling me that I have to install Baldur's Gate II before playing. As far as I can tell, it's installed. Can anyone help

Wine redraw problem with baldur's gate ii (and others)
Hello. When i upgraded wine from 0.9.46 to 0.9.53 i noticed a annoying thing. When i run Baldur's Gate II - Shadows of Amn (and Icewind Dale II) on normal fullscreen mode they work fine. If i enable the "emulate a virtual desktop" option so that it runs on a window, it works fine until another window gets on top of the wine window. For example, i run xterm and run wine. If i click

Baldur's Gate II can't find my CD
Hi, I managed to install BG II (following some posts at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=408), with some difficulty. I eventually copied all the files from all four disks into a single directory, and the install then proceeded smoothly. Now, the launch screen comes up fine, but when I select play, it fails with a windows-style error box claiming: "We cannot

Wine and Baldur's Gate
Well, Now that I've made it through the actual install, I figured I'ld take Baldur's Gate for a spin. The main screeen, where you select to play the game, change the configuration, etc, comes up fine. There's a slight pause after clicking 'Play' while BGMain.exe starts and X is set yo 640x480 (I'm guessing this has something to do with DETACH_PROCESS?), but

Baldur's gate II installing problem...
Hi all, I'm using wine 9.57 in ubuntu gutsy, I'm trying to install BGII but the installshield, when reaches about 78%, asks me for the cd2: I give the directory path and immediately it asks for cd 3,4,5. Naturally i can't provide cd 5 because BGII is a 4cds game. I've tried to upgrade installshield with no result. I've also tried to eject (wine eject) the directory with cd1 but

Re: Baldur's gate II - 'rest' function problem
Give it a few minutes (Alt-Tabbing out and back into the game a few times). You'll find out that you just rested for 22 days at once. It seems random when it happens, but also seems save-specific.
