partitions, so I'm giving it another go to get Guild
Wars running in Linux.
I'm runing Wine 0.9.3 on Kubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake).
I'm able to go through the instillation without issue,
but when it actually tries to

Guild Wars Client
I'm attempting to use the Guild Wars Client to see if it will work on
WINE, but it keeps displaying an error about not being able to write to
the proper directories. I told it to install in C:\Program Files, and my
.wine/fake_windows/* folders all seem to have correct permissions.
Any ideas why this would happen?
The client is only a 60k download (it downloads the rest itself):

Re: Guild Wars 2 for wine - what is needed?
you can also give -perf argument to get on screen fps and many other things.
I'm running it like this:
wine gw2.exe -fps 50 -perf
Some other command line options:

Guild Wars on Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit
Hello!
When I start Gw.exe with the Windows 98 profile it works very good. But I only have DX8 graphics. I guess this is the reason, why the game works so good.
Changing the profile to Win XP (and therefore GW uses now DX9) I have much graphic problems. Even at the lowest settings I have much errors.
I have installed DX9 with winetricks and I have a ATI 4900 Card which can do DX 10 and OpenGL

Guild Wars - Direct3D8 is not available without OpenGL.
Hello everyone!
As one might think from my subject line this thread seems to be about the usual no-32bit-OpenGL-libraries-installed issue, that Google is full of when you are looking for a solution.
My problem is a bit different: My system is 64bit, indeed, but the 32 bit graphics libraries/drivers are installed.
32bit native games like Enemy Territory run fine.

Re: guild wars disappears
I have a similar issue. GW loads the client updater page, but even getting 100% downloaded, the client crashes out and I never see a login screen. There might be music, if I had speakers/headphones hooked up (low priority, being as my other box is running on my TV with nicer speakers right next to it). I am to new to know how to find/do registry editing as suggested. I am using Ubuntu 9.1 with

Guild Wars minimizing problem
Hi all. When trying to minimize the guild wars window from fullscreen, all it seems to do is draw a screenshot of my current desktop and stick it in a window and call it the guild wars window. I can't minimize or maximize this window, so getting back to the game doesn't happen, I must close it and restart. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I am using Linux Mint 9 with the latest

I'm running wine 1.01
Ubuntu 9.04
When I look at my processes running GW.exe is listed as pipe_wait.
Any ideas?

Why does Guild Wars keep flashing and displaying horizontal bars after it is launched
Hi, I recently installed WINE on my computer. I checked if Guild Wars is compatible with WINE and it said it would work flawlessly. I installed Guild Wars through WINE then ran the game. When I launched the game all you can see is a deformed version of the game with horizontal bars flashing everywhere. I even installed my graphics card through the Hardware Drivers section in Ubuntu.Does anyone

Regedit problems-Guild Wars
I'm trying to configure guild wars to work, and that "Oh it works perfectly!" thing is really making me mad. I've been trying for a very long time now (off and on for a year), and I finally stumbled upon this:
Code:
If you are having graphics issues, use regedit to try some registry keys:
