Announcement: 32 bit Wine repo for RHEL and CentOS 7
Hi all I've created a yum repo for 32 bit wine packages on RHEL and CentOS 7: https://harbottle.gitlab.io/wine32/7/i386/ The Wine packages work on both 32 bit and 64 bit RHEL/CentOS 7. There is no 32 bit version of the EPEL repo, where the standard RHEL/CentOS Wine packages can be found, so you may find this new repo useful if you need to run Windows software that requires the 32 bit

Announcement: 32 bit Wine repo for RHEL and CentOS 7
Yes, I will look into getting the SRPMS up on the site (though they are just the ones from EPEL anyway). Help request: Wine + alsa on 64-bit Fedora 12
Hi all, I'm having a problem with alsa on wine. I'm posting this to both lists--I'm sure that there exist people on both ends who might be able to help. Basically this is it: neither alsa nor oss show up in winecfg. The wine-alsa and wine-oss packages are installed. I have a feeling it's due to 32/64-bitness problems. I'm already having to run all wine apps as wine32

CentOS6 CR repo - depsolving problem
All, Has anyone else had a problem with the CR repo on a 6.4 or 6.5 system? I have a test VM that has the CentOS6 CR repo enabled and it recently (well a week or so) started having dependency problems. It's choking on dependencies for ca-cerfificates. Obviously there aren't any CR packages yet for 6.5 so a zero package count and empty directory on the mirror [0] are legitimate. But

Article on building i586 CentOS-5 kernel
Dear all, I was searching for a recent i586 for CentOS-5 in the CentOSPlus repository. Finding none, I decided to try my hands at building one. I have documented the changes made to the stock SRPM for building an i586 kernel on a temporary wiki page: * http://wiki.centos.org/TimothyLee/centos5_i586_patch These instructions have been successfully tested against the 2.6.18-164.10.1.el5

kernel compile for i586
I created a i586 install image with qemu. I downloaded the SRPMS package for the kernel and installed it. I cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS rpmbuild -bp --target i586 kernelXXX.spec I does a bunch of things but it did not build a new kernel and put it in /boot I think I am missing a command to actually BUILD the kernel. What is it? Thanks, Jerry

CentOS 2.1 on i586
I've just attempted to reinstall my ancient laptop that has Pentium MMX processor. Since it is ancient, I've decided to go with CentOS 2.1. Got stuck, installer claims I need at least i686. Hmmm... I know that 3.8 and 4.4 work without a glitch on i586, so this came as surprise. I even thing original RHEL2.1 might had support for i586 too (but I might be wrong). Anyhow, what

2.6.9-34.EL kernel broken on i586?
My three basement machines got upgraded to 2.6.9-34.EL by nightly yum cron job. The two i686 seem to be fine. However, on the old i586 machine I got hole bunch of warnings. Haven't attempted rebooting it with new kernel yet. The warnings are: WARNING: /lib/modules/2.6.9-34.EL/kernel/drivers/edac/amd76x_edac.ko needs unknown symbol edac_mc_del_mc WARNING:

Big thanks for supporting i586 type machines.
While I know that, technically, the only i586 machines are the Pentium and Pentium MMX, it is still nice that I can use some headless AMD K6/2 machines I have lying around for CentOS 4. Many thanks for the effort expended to get that working. -- Lamar Owen Director of Information Technology Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute 1 PARI Drive Rosman, NC 28772 (828)862-5554 www.pari.edu

PLEASE IGNORE PREVIOUS: How to configure ess-5.2.0beta3-1.i586.rpm, Xemacs and SuSE 9.0?
Please ignore (and excuse) my previous message - it is incomplete. I'm trying to get R and ESS to work with Xemacs on a newly installed SuSE 9.0 system. Is some setup required beyond installing the rpms? I've installed the Xemacs packages from SuSE xemacs-info-21.4.13-35 xemacs-packages-el-20030629-37 xemacs-21.4.13-35 xemacs-el-21.4.13-35 xemacs-packages-info-20030629-37

How to know it's i586?
I plan to install CentOS 4.3 on some older IBM Netfinity which have Pentium III chips. I see that there is now a i586 pxeboot image for 4.3, I think that's new. Can I use that for Pentium III? Kai

configure can't find ldap_initialize on HP-UX 11i
I'm basically using the instructions found in the HP-UX readme with the exception that I am trying to use the version of openldap that is in iexpress instead of the one from hpux.cs.utah.edu. The recommendations listed in the doc are: HP-UX 11.00 and 11.11: OpenLdap 2.1.3 (http://hpux.cs.utah.edu) OpenSSL 0.9.7d (http://hpux.cs.utah.edu) HP-UX 11.23 only: ixOpenLdap
