Wine with Voodoo5 card, using Glide
Hello:
I've got a PC that I just set up with Fedora 10 that has a Voodoo5 5500 AGP card. I have the Glide3 drivers installed, and Glide is working with X11 just fine with DRI. My question is, how do I get Wine to use this card in Glide mode (not DirectDraw or Direct3D)? I have seen posts about installing Glide wrappers in Wine with other Nvidia and ATI cards, but do I need to install the

Diablo2 performances
Hello.
I'm trying to run Diablo 2 under wine.
The game installs fine (D2 + LoD + Patch 1.11b), but I experience some serious performances issues. Wine is set to Windows XP mode (otherwise, the game protection doesn't work).
The game is very sluggish when the minimap is open, when setting the key binding, or on battle.net menus.
The only choice I got from D2VidTst.exe is DirectDraw HAL.

Diablo, Direct3d, How to disable Direct3d

Directdraw and Wine Compilation
Hi, I am trying to compile wine in an AMD64 Ubuntu machine, taking the
precautions needed shown in the winehq's wiki to do it. The
compilation finishes fine, but for some reason there is no support for
some things that used to have in the i386 pre-compiled package.
One of them is ALSA sound. I use ALSA because for some reason OSS
sometimes ruins the sound making it look like a loud scratch

directX
Does the current CVS version of wine have the transgaming directX
patch already in it?
I'm pretty sure that I've installed wine correctly. I installed the
most recent RPM available, and the Diablo II installer says that it
can't find direct X.
I then downloaded the tar-ball, and tried to run the transgaming patch
on it, and it said that it had already been run. That's not so

Best glide wrapper under wine
Has anybody found out which is the best glide wrapper to use under recent versions of wine?
I'm trying to play some old windows games from the late '90s on my iMac (ATI 5670), most of them do not support neither opengl nor Direct3D, just Glide. I've tried running under Bootcamp / Windows 7, but it seems that right now wine has become more compatible for such software than windows

Glide-OpenGL wrappers
Hey folks. I'm certain this has been addressed before, but a google
search hasn't been terribly helpful.
Are there any windows Glide-OpenGL wrappers that are functional under
WINE? I'm trying to get Wing Commander Prophecy to run in hardware
mode, but with my configuration, Direct3D doesn't want to work (I've a

The good old winecfg audio tab
Ok, I know this is probably very redundant, but I'm getting the Audio
tab crash with winecfg. The error output is:
wine: unhandled page fault on write access to *insert hex numbers here*
(thread 0009)
Modules: Cannot get info on modules while no process is loaded
etc.
After the last few hours spent surfing dozens of forums and threads,
none of the fixes have worked.

No any D3D works
Sorry, if I miss my question, but I can't find any answer in the web.
It SEEMS, that wine CAN run many D3D applications (and even D3D8 and 9), but I can't launch any :(
Firstly my system:

kernel: 2.6.24-18-generic #1 SMP Wed May 28 19:28:38 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Re: Diablo II LoD Crushed to go to Act 2!
I don't know what video card you have, but you may want to try running Diablo II in Glide mode, using the Glide-to-OpenGL wrapper:
http://www.svenswrapper.de/english/index.html
Place the contents of the wrapper into the Diablo II folder. With Wine run the "glide-init.exe" and you can try a test of the wrapper there. If all is well, run the Diablo II Video Test and Glide mode

x11drv in debian sid
I am unable to load the xlldrv in wine. When I do so, it complains that
it cannot find libOSMesa.so.3 which would make sense since I have not
installed xlibosmesa-dev. I haven't installed it because it wants to
replace my existing glide+mesa setup. Can wine use the mesa libs that
glide does or do I have to use the xlibosmesa-dev package?

Wine + HL(CS) + V3 = opengl mode not supported !?
K I finally got HL to start correctly by not using my installed win98 as
base. Now when I try to join a game in Counterstrike I get an "selected
opengl mode not supported by your hardware" error from HL. This is only the
case when I select the 3DfxMiniGL Driver (as I got a voodoo3). With Default
opengl driver it works, but i get 4 fps. With Softwaremode I get 15fps but
thats both

Windows DirectDraw?
I just tried to install an ancient detective-type RPG ( I am not up with the
classifications.)
(a) It offered to install DirectX. Since Wine has its own DirectX, I
ignored that.
(b) The game failed to run because (according to the message box) it
couldn't find DirectDraw. This showed as a Fixme in the terminal, while
the error message was to do with the display settings - there was no mode

Diablo 2 Glide Wrapper does not work with full screen mode
As the title mentions, full screen mode does not work with Diablo 2 while using Glide Wrapper, but it does "work" for Direct3D (it's incredibly choppy/laggy though).
Another problem:
In window mode, it runs very smoothly, but if I happen to click outside of the window, Wine freezes and I have to terminate the program.
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 and using the latest wine

Purpose of DIB Engine?
Hello again.
Today I got following question:
What is the purpose of DIB Engine? Is it to speed up DirectDraw apps, or is
it to add missing functionality for DirectDraw ?emulation?? I'm asking this
because I recently tested few DDraw apps (Fallout2 and Happyland Adventures)
with DIB enabled and... well for HA there was now significant speed
difference, and Fallout2 slowed down even more :( .

I think I messed up DirectDraw.
I tried to run a demo of Hype: The time quest (Windows 95/98, uses directX6 or some glide3 for 3D stuff) to see if it would work. It installed, but comes up with a weird "Cannot find a game using directdraw" error. I uninstalled it and went about my way. While it would be cool to have this run, that is not my main problem.
Now, I cannot run Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (also windows 95/98--runs

Streets of SimCity under Wine - "No PCI Bus detected."
Hi!
I'm trying to get the Win 95 game "Streets of SimCity" to run under
Linux, and have come across an error message that I don't understand.
Wondering if anyone can point me towards a possible cause!
The game is 3D graphical, and I've just switched in the nVidia driver
(previously, while using Nouveau, I got other errors such as that
OpenGL was not installed properly).
