Installing mysql with macports
Not sure if this is off topic, but there doesn''t seem to be an obvious
place to ask this question.
I am trying to use MacPorts to install mysql. I have xcode 3.0 and
x11 XQuartz 2.1.6 installed.

building biOps on macports, and configure--vars
All,
the MacOSX binary build of the biOps package is broken on cran, so I am trying to compile from source. I am very close; the trick is apparently that this package depends on fftw3, libjpeg and libtiff. My fftw3 is in /usr/local/, but my libjpeg and libtiff are in /opt/local/ since i got them through macports. In general, I'd like to keep as many of my third-party libraries as I can in the

R, Macports and C++ streams
Dear all,
R on Macports relies on GCC 4.3 to build packages. I find that
packages with shared objects that use C++ streams crash R if they're
compiled using Macports' gcc43, but work fine if compiled in exactly
the same way using Apple-supplied GCC 4.2. Has anyone here had the
same issue/know what is causing this problem?
Thanks,
Ernest

couldn't load main module (2)

Trouble with MacPorts install, .profile file not created/ need help
I have just installed MacPorts 1.7.0 for Leopard using a
downloaded .dmg file. Following the download and installation, I
looked for the .profile file to change the environment variables, but
found that no .profile file was created.
When I tried to do so, I got an error message:

It was a bunch of folders that my computer didn't know what to do with. Is there a simple layman's handbook to doing this? I tried all the

Wine on Tiger
I'm almost certain I installed Wine correctly, but when I try to get a Windows program working it doesn't happen. The program I'm trying to install is Arena 10 (a simulation program). I've attached some screen shots. The first one is when I completed the wine install, 2 through 6 show when I tried to install the program. If you could tell me what steps to take to fix these

Error installing MacPorts rb-fxruby...
Hi all,
I''m encountering an error while trying to install the MacPorts version of
fxruby on a Intel Mac running 10.4.11. It appears to be having trouble
installing and building the ''fox'' library prerequisite. It looks like it''s
having trouble generating the libraries: "-o .libs/libFOX-1.6.0.0.34.dylib"
and "-o libFOX-1.6.la". The errors

NSD 3.2.1 in MacPorts
Hello NSD users,
I've updated the NSD port in the MacPorts tree to version 3.2.1, so that
MacPorts users on OS X can install it with a simple "port install nsd"
command. The port has two variants, viz. "stats" and "rootserver".
Note that after installing the port, one still needs to copy
PORTBASE/etc/nsd/nsd.conf.sample to PORTBASE/etc/nsd/nsd.conf and

Porticus/Port Authority for MacPorts GUI front-end?
I''ve noticed that there are two different programs which can serve as
a GUI front end for MacPorts. Would like to hear who uses what, and
differences between the two programs.
Thank you.

Hai Marco,
I dont get what your goal is, sorry.. :-/
If you follow this template.
The computername should always have an A + PTR recored.
Now create an CNAME and point to the computer name, and this one can be in any zone.
Does not have to be the primary dns zone, as long as the zones are withing the kerberos domain.
On a member you have, by default : dns proxy = yes , man smb.conf for
