new freenx and nx RPMS released, manual action for x86_64
There are new RPMS released for nx and freenx in the CentOS-4 and
CentOS-5 Extras repository.
I normally do not announce that here, as those can easily be obtained on
a normal "yum upgrade/update", however in this case there are special
actions required *_IF_* you have the x86_64 architecture for either
CentOS-4 or CentOS-5 with the current versions of nx and freenx installed.

freenx/nx server part
The CentOS wiki has a page regarding the nomachine nx client setup ...
But i think that a page describing the server part, including ssh key
authentication, can be interesting for people wanting to use nx/freenx.
Because by default, it will modify sshd_config to allow password
authentication (even if configured manually to not do so ...)
Range : can you create a new page ? or do we have to edit

Wine on Ubuntu 8.04 FreeNX with Mac OS X 10.3 NX client
Hello,
We have Ubuntu 8.04 running with FreeNX server on our 'remote desktop server' linux machine.
We can connect to the Ubuntu machine with the NoMachine NxClient from Windows, Linux and Mac OS 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5.
We also have Wine 1.0 installed on the Ubuntu machine, and we run a variety of Windows applications and utilities in the remote desktops from clients on all 3 systems

Ultima Online - Kingdom Reborn
Ultima Online is currently beta testing a new release which will have a 3d client based on the Kingdom Reborn release.
In preparation, I am trying to load Kingdom Reborn to learn the client but it crashes in Wine when it hits the installation wizard. Has anyone worked through any tricks to make this install and run?
It crashes almost immediately after unpacking the archive and starting the

Very slow plot rendering with X11 on CentOS 5.5
I am connecting from a PC to a Linux system running CentOS
release 5.5 (Final) and it is extremely slow to render plots
to the X11 device.
This is not R's fault but I wonder if anyone can offer
guidance so I can help the system administrators address
the problem.
I can connect to the Linux server using a NoMachine NX client
for Windows or using X-Win32. I also have access to R running

opennx wants to replace nxclient on all my CentOS 6 servers
Looks like opennx appeared in the extras repository some time recently.
Because the extras repository is enabled by default, all of the servers
where I have nxclient installed are showing opennx as available which
will obsolete nxclient.
I went ahead and upgraded on my laptop but the resulting opennx
installation didn't launch properly. I'm now modifying my yum

freenx
Hello,
I am having problems getting freenx running in CentOS 4.5 i386_64. I
know this is not a new problem, however, I havn't
found a solution in all the postings I found on the web.
I did exactly what is supposed to work and described in detail at
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/FreeNX
After doing that I can connect to the server with nxcleint without
problem but I get only a black

freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm is in testing
We have created a new version of freenx (freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm)
and moved it to the testing repo.
This is based on the code displayed at the LWE in San Francisco ...

(though it is not officially released as stable by the freenx people)
This version should handle printing and reconnecting to running sessions

FreeNX issues
I have just installed freenx on two seperate centos 5.0 boxes. I had freenx server working before performing a "yum update" (which upgraded centos to 5.1). I then rebooted the box and now the display starts to show on the client, but then terminates the connection for no reason (at least nothing in any server logs). Below is the session info on the client machine.

FreeNX authenticates but no desktop on centos 5 ??
Hi all,
I am new to CentOS and freeNX -- both look really awesome, a huge thanks to
all the people making them happen.
I am having a problem with freenx that appears to be specific to centos 5.
my client authenticates but then no desktop comes up. however, when I
connect to a similar machine running centos 4.4, I authenticate and the
gnome desktop just pops up sweet as can be. I also have a vnc

Mac client to freenx?
Now that Mac lion/mountain lion versions of OSX don't support the old
powerpc binaries like the NX 3.5 client any more, what is the best
approach to connect to freenx on Centos - the new 'nxplayer' from
nomachine.com, opennx, or something else? Google seems to show mixed
opinions and quirks with each.

NoMachine Makes OpenSSH Win32 Port Available
Hi all,
We are happy to inform you that we have made available a Win32 port of
OpenSSH. We have also created a dedicated area on our website along with
the relevant build and installation instructions:
http://www.nomachine.com/contributions.php.
While still in the early stages and requiring a little more evolvement,
the port includes both the client and the server and implements a majority
