No video acceleration under wine?
OS: Ubuntu 10.04 32bits
Core: i5 2,4ghz
Video card: Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5470 1GB
Hello all, I'm trying to play a direct3d MMORPG game called Ragnarok Online (if you search, you'll see it's not a heavy game), but when I connect, I noticed slow perfomance, as if the game was working just by CPU. So I'm wondering if WINE is using video acceleration for it.

Tmax Window(a propietary OS) using Wine?
Hi, Im posting here the next doubt:
Yesterday a korean company has released a new OS which is compatible with MS Windows Apps. As they state, they are a propietary OS, and i cant see any GPL code or SVN repository.Of course my lack of Korean can help to not find the open source code, but the little im able to read seems they arent going to release any source code.
I know that is quite difficult

Install XGL under CentOS 5 with ATI X600 and dual-head configuration
Hi again.
I've got a laptop with an ATI X600 inside, perfectly working xorg with
dual head configuration, 2 desktops (without xinerama).
I've got 2 xorg.conf files, one for propietary ATI (fglrx) driver, and
other to use the open source driver. The difference is very notorious.
The problem I have is that I read (Saint Google) that to work with
compiz/beryl and dual-head configuration, I

Setting ups.delay.shutdown in powerware 9135
Hi!
I'm using nut to control a ups powerware 9135.
All are working, but, in the shutdown, the ups don't poweroff.
I did check with upsc, and I can't see a ups.delay.shutdown variable to set
the time of automatic poweroff, when I did complete the shutdown of
machines.
Before, I did use a propietary program to work with this ups, and the
daemon did poweroff the ups without problems.
But,

Best fglrx (ati) driver for wine?
A call for those ati-experimented wine gamers, which version would be the best for wine?
I'm currently using ubuntu 10.10 default for them (catalyst 10.10 too), but perfomance is so low...I know ATI is not in love with wine, but at least I want to test the best posibility out there.
My card is a hd 5470 mobility, help is appreciated.

Hi , guys:
I have a new Acer laptop and I have installed CentOS 5.5 x86_64 bit.
The problem is that there is no driver for the ATI mobility radeon HD5470
and the graphic is so bad!
On amd-ati website I have found the catalyst driver version 10.2 butit seems
not to be the correct solution.
The current screen resolution is 1024x768, but my laptop is widescreen and

Games performance with wine
I've been using Linux Ubuntu for a few days, but I already love it :) However, when I'm running windows games under wine, I get less than 10fps, while under windows they work really fast. I have installed latest Nvidia drivers from ubuntu repositories and Direct X 9c under wine (yes, dxdiag works, and it passes all the tests). I have also seen on youtube, that many people don't have

Ping interrupts and SSH laggy
Hi,
i have succesfully configured Xen 3.0.4 with 2.6.16 kernel on some C2D
hw with currently 2GB RAM. Only hitch was with the integrated Intel
Gigabit network card which is not supported by by default xen kernel -
so there is e1000 module compiled from intel sources.
Server is connected on 100Mbit ethernet line. Network setting is
currently bridged.
At the moment 4 domUs with various linux PV

Laggy and faulty Samba server
Hi,
I've installed Samba a few times, and I always have the same problem -
except now I really want to get rid of it.
My Samba server is very, very, very slow on occations (not always), and
some times it's really annoying.
What happens is that it doesn't seem to be online for a period of 5-10
seconds once every minute! If I'm copying huge files, it's working
great, but when

Re: Tmax Window(a propietary OS) using Wine?
Forgive my poor English.
There is Tmax Window, the 1st windows XP compatible proprietary OS from Korea.
Tmax company showed screenshot of Tmax Windows.
But it is known as they mixed images with real XP and OpenOffice suite screenshots.
http://mr-dust.pe.kr/entry/Tmaxwindow-screenshot-failed
Tmax Window is doubtful about stolen ReactOS source code:
This is a post of a tmax developer.

softmodems bank for ast.
Hi.
We need a full featured modem bank 20+ to attend data calls.
IAXmodem only supports fax protocols because spandsp only support fax protocols.
The idea is to do a IAX wrapper like IAXmodem but with a full featured
(but propietary) softmodem library like PCTEL or linuxant.
I hate astribank+hardmodems solution.
Some body think that is possible?
Sorry for my horrible English. ;)

Linux vs Windows Drivers
What is so fundamentally different about drivers in Linux and Windows?
Specifically, video card drivers have always frustrated my understanding
of what's going on under the hood. Say I have a nice video card from
ATI. I need to install some cool drivers from ATI in order to make the
card work at its best and in order to do any cool things like dual
monitors. I download these drivers
